Shortcut: notice how lively your spine becomes when you listen to some nice music you like? The body starts moving and dancing almost by itself. It will cure you. Stay happy stress free in nature, all diseases will vanish.
Do you recommend doing unilateral back excerices if there's a muscle imbalance caused by the scoliosis or focusing primarily on correcting the spine curvature first?
I’m thinking of doing unilateral exercises to correct my muscle imbalances. If the concave side is weaker, I’m wondering why you wouldn’t recommend strengthening that side more? Thanks in advance.
@@Darkious The cancave side is not weaker. They are both weak because of the mechanical imbalance. The concave side because of a short weakness and the convex because of a stretch weakness. If you strengthen the concave side without balancing the curve, it will just pull you more concave.
I wonder if page is a ballerina.. she has the bun.. and how it affects her since ballet is a lot of jumping.. wonder what that does to a person with scoliosis over time.. what’s good is ballet has probably taught her to elongate upwards which must be good to decompress the curvatures… and also must help in teaching her this work since she has body awareness and understand movement etc
For an athlete who has stopped growing is it possible to do this while also lifting weights a few days a week(no deadlift/squat) to help with imbalance? I have an S-curve around 43 and 35.
What do you think about pri for scoliosis? they have similar thought prosses about breathing into the concave areas. Their whole thesis of innate human patterning and asymmetry would predict a concave lumbar curve and restricted left posterior mediastinum.

@@iamdadescott I think there is a possibility of reducing the magnitude of the curve, but it does take quite a bit of work to get that to happen since the bones are shaped differently at this point. Could this method be effective for mild cob angles too (less than 10-12 degrees for instance)? Thanks for great content BTW!
Definitely!
@@AlignTherapyUtah Thanks for replying. I live in Baltimore/DC area, any place you'd suggest around here?
less than 10 degrees isnt considered scoliosis
What is the best sleeping position for scoliosis around the thoracic region? And what kind of exercises should I be doing to correct it?
Great question Farida. I would have really liked to see a response to this question.
Schroth exercises. Sleeping depends on the curve and other variables.
I start my schroth method in 2/3 weeks and I’ll go in once every week and workout the rest of the days at home. I’m so nervous

How have you been doing? Is your spine better?
Great job sir but what if the irregularities in alignment are in the cervical spine, or if some of the cervical vertebrae are rotated on themselves and are associated with a lot of agonizing neck pains, cervicogenic headaches and tinnitus?!
Is there a similar technique to approach that?
Thank you.
That would definitely benefit from addressing it separately.
@@AlignTherapyUtah what are the methods of addressing them separately? Because the above symptoms are agonizing me on daily basis.

For each curve degree, how long in a session / how often in a day or a week / how many years does it need to do this Schroth Method / exercise ?
Would insurance cover the expense for this treatment?
@@aurumdream9693 it depends on the insurance. It isn't as simple as curve degree. I would work with a Schroth therapist to figure that out and make a plan

I’m 62, had scoliosis all my life, I left it untreated for years because I had 4 kids, now I have bad pain in my lower left side of curvature, muscle spasm and hits the nerves, started therapy with this method, will this help me at all since I have structured scoliosis?
It can definitely help!
How does one find a therapist who is certified in the method. I live in Portland Oregon.
Check the BSPTS website

Look for a Physical Therapist trained and certified in The Schroth Method.
Thanks! Excellent video.

Do you recommend doing unilateral back excerices if there's a muscle imbalance caused by the scoliosis or focusing primarily on correcting the spine curvature first?
Good question. I would correct the imbalance and then do symmetrical exercises.

Does this method is for adults as well? Is it possible to have straight spine after therapy? Thank you
This doesn't "fix" the spine but it helps to improve it. Works great for adults.

so is there a before and after X-ray or some sort of post-treatment measures?
We definitely have those but that is not the purpose of this video and we also want to maintain some medical privacy.

I would highly suggest getting trained in one of the major schools. I would recommend BSPTS, SSOL, or PSSE Schroth.
Pelvis which is the foundation for spine is the good example

Does it work for person with 28years old?where is your location?
Yes it does! We are in Lehi, Utah
I really love doing Schroth with Ballet Dancers. They have great body awareness.
It makes you wonder, if her spine was straight, she may be taller than the therapist
Most of the time, yes. I would be at least 1-2 inches taller if my spine was completely straight. So I’d be 5’7 😭😓
@@kyasmrtist has your back gotten bigger? If so by how much degrees. And do you still do these exercises?
It is possible
For an athlete who has stopped growing is it possible to do this while also lifting weights a few days a week(no deadlift/squat) to help with imbalance? I have an S-curve around 43 and 35.
I don't see any reason you couldn't do these and lifting. Just make sure you are doing correct exercises for your curve pattern.
Kevin we have the exact same curve measurements😁
ok. I am 32 years old and was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 14. I am going to find a physical therapist that can do this.
Awesome!
Do you know where I can buy that pole thing she started using at 4:30

What do you think about pri for scoliosis? they have similar thought prosses about breathing into the concave areas. Their whole thesis of innate human patterning and asymmetry would predict a concave lumbar curve and restricted left posterior mediastinum.
Makes some sense but I really haven't seen any research to support it in affecting the curve.
Can this method also help an elderly person at 77 with scoliosis or is it irreversible at that point. I'm looking for an alternative approach for my mother to decrease curvature in spine
It can definitely help. We use Schroth all the time with older patients. We just go a little slower and modify some of the exercises.
@@AlignTherapyUtahthank you I’m glad to hear that. A local doctor who does Schroth method told me it wouldn’t help someone her age because spine is already set
@@iamdadescott it might not reduce the curve but it could help with pain and stop progression.
@@AlignTherapyUtah thanks for fast response. Last question, why can’t she reduce curve of spine. Is it honestly too late for that age, even if she’s consistent with method? Just wanted to give her some hope
@@iamdadescott I think there is a possibility of reducing the magnitude of the curve, but it does take quite a bit of work to get that to happen since the bones are shaped differently at this point. Changing the shape of the bones isn't necessarily possible, but this doesn't mean the shape of the spine in general can't be helped.
You have progress of this video?
Thanks

Could you work with the patient inverted, on a Yoga Trapeze, for example?

How do you address scoliosis corrections in clients with Harrington Rods?
That is a bit different. It takes more focus on the residual curve. Definitely beyond the scope of this video.
Question. What did this achieve? Does she come in an do this because the movements alleviate pain? I mean, this isn't going to straighten her spine right? What is the purpose here?
Probably to prevent the curve from getting worse and possibly reduce the curve a little. I did schroth physiotherapy for 3 years and used a back brace. It reduced my curve! :)
It does NOT straighten the spine.
The purpose is to not have progression and hopefully reduce the curve somewhat.
Is it true that Scroth does not work for adult idopathic scoliosis? Perhaps it helps with pain but will not budge that curve will it?
It can depending on how flexible it is.
There are some therapist here in HK said they can do this method depends on the conditions of the spine. Do you know any good schroth-trained therapist in HK? Did you also do traction for the patient?
you can do a search online for Schroth therapists

Would this still help at all if you have areas of spine that have fused naturally. I have kyphoscoliosis and fused at T2/3 and also have fused at T10/11 and have mild scoliosis in lumbar spine.
Was on diazepam for 20 years for upper back tightness following L5/S1 laminectomy tiny.
Now in horrific benzodiazepine withdrawal and all muscles are contracting/shortening and bending spine so bows up off of sofa.
