    I was diagnosed with Scoliosis when I was 6 years of age, now I'm 55 years old. When I was growing up, I had exercises also special shoes( one heal higher than the other ). Eventually, I went from a chiropractor to a Orthopedic Surgeon. I was always advised not to do certain things like gymnastics.y Scoliosis is in two different areas. Cervical and lumber. I was hit by two different vehicles 4 mos apart in 2020. Before then, I never experienced any problems in my back ever. Both people hit me in the front right side of my vehicles. 2nd one worse than the 1st. Since then, I’ve gotten worse even though I started treatment in 2021 as everything went into lockdown in 2020 due to Covid. On Oct 2022, my X-ray showed a 64 degree curvature in my lower left back (spine leans hard to the lower left) and now I can’t walk without a walker or crutches. I see great chiros who are preventing it from getting worse. Can a curvature be straighten if it’s that severe? I need to see a scoliosis specialist…but just thought it wouldn’t be harmful to ask in general. Thank you for your time and very informative video! God Bless You!

    Very helpful. I very much appreciate the introduction that identifies the range and briefly describes the different types of scoliosis. It made me aware for the first time that there can be a connection between EDS and scoliosis. I appreciate the inclusion of the full range of scoliosis types, including those that that may impact only a small percent of the population. Often medical educational programs for the general public focus on the most commonly presenting conditions. Routinely educating all, i.e. the general public, patients & their families, and medical professionals, on the full range of scoliosis types helps individuals with less common conditions receive proper diagnosis.

Whenever the pain becomes unbearable I use my tiny TENS unit. Physical therapy does help. Better get a scoliosis specialist. It is all about management. So far this channel has been very informative. I have thoracolumbar scoliosis. Idk how long I've had it either, I guess, for as long as I can remember. I never noticed uneven shoulders or uneven pant legs. However, I was in an auto accident. I fell asleep, and I hit an oak tree at 70 mph. the impact was double. I had over 100 breaks but none to my back. My left pelvis was broken, and I am titanium pelvis, and I've a bar in my tibia with 38 screws / plates in my left foot alone. As for my scoliosis, I just found out that I have it, and it is on my left side. I have degenerative arthritis/ Spondylosis lower back and cervical so bad I get headaches with much pressure in my right eye when in extreme cervical pain I always thought that I just had a painful balled up muscle left side only to find out it's the curve in my spine. Needless to say, I am absolutely MISERABLE, I get back fatigue right where the curve is as well when I walk for exercise. I thought perhaps it was a bad posture before being told my spine was curved. My pain Dr burns 🔥 my nerves left side lower back concerning my auto accident injury every 6 months, and I get injections on my right-side lumbar - pain and every 3 months injections in my neck as well every three months. When I stretch, I'm in extreme pain and often thought if I could decompress my spine somehow 🤔 that I might feel 100% better, that's just me and probably doesn't make sense. Forgive me for that. I'm extremely angry because of all the X-rays done, not one Dr ever told me I had the disability/ disease... I call it a disease because It feels like my spine is infected with a disease, and the pain never goes away ever. It's a nasty deep pain in my bones it's an ache, yet prickly and firey at times.

    Thank u again. Even though I'm only 49yrs old, i can't do any kind of sports whatsoever. When i do my grocery shopping, about after 5 to 10mins minutes, i'm in pain, and my head arches forward more & it feels like my whole head wants to fall off. When i bring my bins in, I get breathing problems. Last night for example ~ i was just doing my dishes & i had to stop and rest a couple of times, but when i finished, I was in excruciating pain around the lower lumbar region. I'm already very limited in my day to day life. I've already been told, that with my back as it is now. There's nothing i can do about it. Just take every day as it comes. Also, my legs r getting weaker and weaker. I actually felt like my legs were going to collapse on me. That really scared me. My balance is just getting worse, but when i was younger, i was told that i would end up in a Wheelchair. I can't even ride a bike. I remember a few years ago, i tried but my muscles in my legs, were weak as. I wasn't able to push the pedal. It was then, i knew my Scoliosis was getting worse, and quicker than ever before. At least i definitely know what is in store for me in the future, & i've had time to keep going with an open mind and expect the unexpected. I love music and humour, i laugh a lot. That will help & keep me going. It's always been my survival tool. Same as how Drs talk about CBT. I already knew what that was but didn't know there was a name for it. Thanks again. I enjoy ur videos, and i learn bits and pieces every time.

      Get a personal trainer specializing in corrective exercise and use supplements that stimulate muscle growth and recovery. My curve is over 60 and this is how I stayed in shape. If u can't afford external help, just start with basic unilateral exercises for full body 3 x a week and definitely creatine is an excellent supplement to o support your muscle. At some point I had trouble developing legs because they would be sore for too long so I got Recovery matrix supplement loaded with amino acids. Of course protein shake 30 min after a workout. For lumbar health start with exercises for the core and and avoid ones that make you bend like sit-ups and deadlifts. Along with core, focus on your glutes- hip thrusts are the most efficient and there are many variations. If the only thing u can do is some biceps curves, it's better than nothing and it will still change your metabolism and allow for progression. Grow your muscle to stabilize the body! Vitamin b complex and some caffeine for energy

    Wonderful information. Thank you for describing this condition so that everyone can understand it. I have an odd kind of story about my curvature. Here I am in August of 2024, and I just found out about my spinal condition; I am 70 years old! I've spent my entire life being active and unusually flexible until a car accident in 2013 at which time I fractured my L2 area. I was told this condition only manifests in your early years. Thank you for clarifying there are other ways in which this can develop.

    What about leg length discrepancy as a cause?

    • @ScoliosisReductionCenter
      @ScoliosisReductionCenter  ปีที่แล้ว

      When one leg is shorter than the other, the pelvis tilts to the side to try to compensate for the difference in leg length. This tilting can put stress on the spine, causing it to curve to the side. The curve of the spine in scoliosis caused by LLD is usually in the lumbar region, which is the lower part of the back. @@ScoliosisReductionCenter alas I have (some) pain almost all the time. It is more after I play. The twist I make to play the violin is going in the “wrong” direction according to my curve. I do exercises, lots of them, to try to compensate. To be honest I don’t think the violin is doing me any good, that makes me sad but it really is physical reaction isn’t it

    What about curves that are compensating for another? I am a 42 yr old female and just found out last year that i have a mild double curve scoliosis as well as a short right leg. I never new this before. Ive seen a few drs since then. I have tried PT but it was painful in the process plus ive let myself go for awhile accept for work (personal care aide since 2010) i also have had a lot of SI joint pain. If understand my xrays my curve that is compensating is greater than the idiopathic one. One curve is to the right in the thoracolumbar and the 2nd curve is to the left in mid to upper thoracic area. Im just curious what you would have to say of double curvatures

    I am 47 and had never had problems before with my back, since about 3 weeks ago, I done some light work and that afternoon severe pain started, I could hardle walk, move ect went to hospital and they took xrays saying I have scoliosis, I presume it is lumber for all my pain is there and from lumber my upper body bends to the right and my right hip is much lower then the left, right leg I also have to concentrate to walk on it proper, it does not move proper as the left. (Dr have not told me what degree or nothing when he dianosed me about 3 weeks ago). My question is: I have constant pain (24/7) and some difficulty walking, standing up from sitting ect. My pain is pretty severe and I can hardly do anything, after I have done something small, my pain becomes very unbearable, I do drink pain pills, but the pain does not go away at all. Why should this be please? It feels like bone on bone in my way lower back.

    • @ScoliosisReductionCenter
      @ScoliosisReductionCenter  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Here's what you need to know:
      Mild cases: If your scoliosis is considered minor, as your doctor has indicated, the risks are generally low.
      Increased risk: Women with severe scoliosis might face higher risks, such as difficulty breathing, increased back pain, or complications during delivery.
      Regular monitoring: It's important to consult with both your obstetrician and a specialist in scoliosis throughout your pregnancy. They can monitor your condition and address any potential concerns.
      While there may be some increased risks, many women with scoliosis have healthy pregnancies and babies.
      It's essential to discuss your specific situation with your healthcare providers to get personalized advice and support.

    does scoliosis deprive you from your height ?

    • @ScoliosisReductionCenter
      @ScoliosisReductionCenter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may affect a person's height to some extent. However, it's important to understand that scoliosis does not directly cause a decrease in a person's overall height.
      In mild cases of scoliosis, the height difference may not be noticeable or have a significant impact. However, in more severe cases where the curvature of the spine is significant, the asymmetry in the spine can cause changes in posture and alignment of the body. This can result in a noticeable difference in apparent height when measured or observed from various angles. Scoliosis and osteoporosis? Can osteoporosis cause it? I've lost 3 inches in height, so far. My scoliosis is mild...right now. Could some of my height loss be that curve?
    I'm a hairdresser. I stand in an unnatural position with my arms raised for hours at a time. My upper back kills me within 30 minutes. I keep waiting for someone to tell me it's bad for me so I can quit. 😂

    Doctor: You have scoliosis. Me: Well, what can I do for exercise? Doc: We don't know. Me: So you're telling me my only option is paying hundreds of thousands of dollars laying on a table having "treatments" that don't really "treat" the scoliosis but may or may NOT stop it from progressing? You've handed me a life sentence of pain, anguish and despair. Thanks but I'll see myself out....

      Don't believe it. I am 70 years old with a 68 degree curve. Stay as limber as possible, stretch, hang, and do balance exercises too. I move like a teenager. Pretty much by doing all the things that the doctors told me not to do. Stay active and flexible. Try accupressure for pain, but find someone very good at it!

      Seems compassionate to me, so many therapists seem unnaturally positive and it often is an act because they aren’t very competent. I believe this guy cares and most likely is very competent. I like his demeanor.

      Hello... I have recently been diagnosed with scoliosis, I think it's degenerative. Had a consult for surgery and was considering doing it. I am so desperate at this point that when I first was diagnosed with it I was definitely a huge no surgery fan. And now because I haven't been given the kinds of options and treatments that you offer, I have now gone to the other end of the spectrum because I just want to be straight and have no pain, or at least be at a more manageable pain level. Right now with the level of pain I have I can't function as an adult of 64 yes and this is causing me much depression. I feel stuck and a year ago I had that proactive mentality but it has gotten me nowhere; either treatment not covered by medical insurance, lack of physicians that have knowledge about the proactive approach or just the unavailability of doctors and services here in Hawaii. I am angry, frustrated, depressed and feeling like we there is no hope for me getting better or working towards a better life in my elder years. This is not me, not my personality, not a stand still type of person, there's so much to do but I physically can't do it. My life has turned 360 degrees in a flash of a moment that my body and mind are still in shock; like who is this person that has taken over my life? I lose myself daily and I'm so devastated to the point of not leaving my home, not able to keep up with my self care or my household activities.
      I know you probably hear tons of these life stories and I apologize for going on zbout mine. I guess my question to you is more like looking for suggestions on what I can do proactively to avoid the going down the road towards surgery path.
      Anything ideas would be greatly appreciated and looked into if at all possible.
      Thank you to you and your staff for doing what you all do to help so many people to live the best life possible.
      Aloha,
      Elaine S.
