I doubt lobo would take Krem's place. Krem was running from supergirl, mostly afraid of her for the entire story. Lobo wouldn't be scared of super girl considering he's more than a match for supergirl no matter how edgy she is.

Thanks for breaking this down again. I think some people aren't aware of the timeline. Like you, I thought all of this was merely reporting on old news for some odd reason - but Gunn's continuing silence has me worried. If it does turn out to be true, maybe it'll free up some time for Reeves to put the final polish on the Batman II script and maybe start brainstorming for Batman III - if we do get that!

I think Gunn is truly not going to have a full decision on the future of Batman in general until he is in post-production and that is why there is so much silence. I think very unlikely but he may be willing to back pedal on Reeves being separate because it would make the easiest route, but possibly aging up Pattinson. But I also think either way the casting of Batman won’t be seen until a Superman post credits.
It’s super sad to see the Arkham series cancelled because I’ve been waiting to watch that series for 2 years & I wish to see what other villians will be their in the Arkham series even if it’s a couple of the same characters or some different characters.
Not surprised at all if true the studio needs to focus on it's core projects first and foremost. Reeves Batverse needs to be his movie trilogy and Penguin no more than that imo.

If that were true, then Reeves could've just taken it back. I think Reeves realized that an Arkham series would be much better with the metahumans of Batman's rogue gallery, something that he's clearly not exploring in his Batverse, so he pitched it to Gunn, because it was something he still wanted to do.

Adaptation def doesn’t mean it can’t be a full on faithful take tho, It’s being adapted into a different medium so a lot of times things have to be changed a little bit but not always.

The Arkham asylum series being canceled rumors have major weight behind them because of WB’s past history of canceling projects. Like how the old 2000s justice league movie didn’t happen or how they canceled a Batman movie and cyborg movie for DCEU. So it’s so easy to think that Warner Brothers will start canceling projects again like Arkham asylum, swamp thing, and authority because of a new DC Bargo being put into place or something silly like that.
Lobo should absolutely NOT replace Krem. it just would't make any sense in the story from the comic. As a bounty hunter who'd help them briefly or give them information would work I think. May they'd encounter him on one of the planets and bag an outlaw or something.
Peter safran's wife Natalie had already confirmed jason as lobo on her Instagram around the time Aquaman 2 had come out. Someone had asked her in the comment section that if he had been cast, and she replied "you know it! ".
Lobo should not replace Krem. The entire story is the hunt for and ultimately death of Krem. If Lobo is part of the story that would be cool being hired by Krem or the girl to go after Krem that would be neat.
Matt Reeves also wrote the part of Jim Gordon with Mahershala Ali in mind. But Mahershala had just been offered Blade and turned it down because the two roles would conflict schedule wise, which is hilarious in hindsight. I’m sure he’s spewing about that. Regardless Jeffrey Wright was not too shabby a consolation prize. I think he fit the role better than Mahershala would have in the end.
the DCEU/Elseworlds as opposed to something like the Sandman-Verse, which is running independent of the DCEU - anything with Reeves has always been a DCEU project, just under the Elseworlds banner.
I feel like Arkham has always been more interesting when we only get glimpses and only hear of the horrors that happen inside so I’m not too hurt from the cancellation. If it ends up still going ahead, cool more Batman content!
DCU should hire somone that is the face for thier PR. Feige wears many hats, including being the face of MCU. James will always be busy shooting something, Saffron will be busy overlooking all productions, they need someone else to handle the being the face of DCU marketing and PR.
I think we might have to accept that James Gunn might be trying to kill the Matt reeves Batman universe . I don’t think he’s dumb enough to do it but man it’s looking like it .

Jason Mamoa bout to be a very busy man seeing as dune part 3 is going to be filmed and now he might be in supergirl. I just cant wait to see him back as Duncan Idaho if they are going with the books he basically will be the lead of the movie.

Tbh I'm so excited for the dcu but at the same time I'm so confused about it. I'm having a hard time knowing what exactly is Canon. Even gunn's video no longer fully applies. For example Shazam is no longer considered Canon which good but there are also projects coming out that are considered elseworlds and some that aren't? Plus there is the whole peacemaker situation that im so curious about and blue beetle being canon but not he movie even though the director of the movie claims they're moving forward within that universe and james gunn never said anything about it. It just feels messy right now. I know creature comandos is the first project based in the dcu so I know it's still too early and in it's development stages. I'm trusting James gunn but I do think we'll need an update on the universe sometime soon.
@a_fenwick it was already explained ,CANON starts in December with Creature Commandos,peacemaker season 1 is not canon while season 2 is canon ( THIS MEANS THE RETURNING ACTORS FROM DCEU WILL BE VARIANTS IN DCU ) let me explain it in a another way dceu has some characters who are similar to these of DCU but with different personalities and history SECONDLY else worlds will have a different logo than the DCU projects GUN already said so
Sometimes Grace Randolph is right but I don't really pay any attention to her. She claims to be a DC fan but she clearly not. I stopped following her a long time. I couldn't handle the contradictory from her.
Plot Twist: There were two (or more) simultaneous Arkham Asylum series being worked on. One is cancelled while the other(s) are still chugging along at different levels of plausibility.
I'm all for Jason Momoa showing up as Lobo at some point in the DCU, but based on how the story of the comic goes as is and knowing they're doing a direct adaptation of the comic, I don't see a fitting place for Lobo to appear. I would be bummed if they replaced Krem with Lobo because Krem is quite a different character than Lobo in a number of ways and Krem is a really good and effective villain as he is, so I would love to see Krem be the villain in this (plus, if they stay faithful to the way things are resolved at the end of the comic and the themes it addresses, using Lobo as the main villain would make no sense, because it would essentially leave Lobo as a one-off villain, and that would be an injustive to the character). As far as a bounty hunter that Krem hires, none of the people Krem hires in the comic have enough "screentime", so to speak since it IS a comic, to really justify a big scene-stealing character like Lobo. Plus, speaking to DanielRPK himself, while I know he's made several right calls in the past, I've been keeping tabs on him lately and most of the major rumors I've seen of his regarding the DCU have been off the mark so I tend to take what he says regarding the DCU with a grain of salt. Not to say that it isn't true or that they couldn't alter the script a bit to feature Lobo as a side character, but I would not want to see Krem get thrown under the bus just to accomodate Lobo as the main villain (because of how good a villain Krem already is) and, as the comic currently is, I don't see where Lobo could fit in the story in a way that justifies him being there. What I COULD see, though, if they're actually looking at Jason Momoa for "Woman of Tomorrow", is potentially casting Momoa as Krem. That would be a REALLY interesting casting decison to me.
Don't think it's Chip. A character like Chip would be a CGI character. If rumors are true and Bizzaro is in the film and since it is the dirty suited Superman ( which I think will turn out being Bizzaro ) is the one interacting with squirrel I think it is him being curious about it.
A new Boba video to start the week? Hell yes! I can't quite place what is happening with the Arkham series. If it happens, great! However if it is cancelled I also wouldn't mind them replacing it with a DCU Gotham based tv show based on someone like the Gotham City Sirens, a Tim Drake Robin series maybe a Batgirl series. As for Lobo I think we are all just waiting for that confirmation that Mamoa is Lobo but I do think it'd be hilarious if he was just trolling all this time 😂. Great video!
I'm honestly kind of glad Arkham is cancelled, and I'll explain why: When creating a cinematic universe, there are only so many project slots to fill. And I want those slots to be filled by Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, GL, Martian Manhunter, Blue Beetle, Green Arrow, Titans, Atom etc. Giving any one of those slots to projects like Arkham Asylum or Lobo or The Authority or Waller is a complete waste in my eyes, as those stories could've easily worked even better if implemented into other heroes' films. I'll put it this way: watching a solo Lobo movie is like eating just the caviar with a spoon - it's fine, but would've worked a lot better as part of a larger meal.
But isn't that kind of like saying the Guardians of the Galaxy would have been better off being featured in an Avengers film, rather than having their own series of films? At the time, not many people were hardcore fans of the Guardians and some didn't even know who they were. Yet Gunn was able to bring something new and fresh and fun to the MCU. These are now beloved films by many who were introduced to them for the first time through the first Guardians movie. If they were merely background characters in an Avengers film, we wouldn't have gotten nearly as much character development or interactions between all the different characters. A lot would have been left out. Personally, I've been an Authority fan since the comics first came out and I never could have imagined they would get their own movie, so I'm thrilled to see them actually get their own film. I think if other fans who don't know them keep an open mind, they might possibly discover a new favorite as well.

I think for the Arkham Show thing it should have been James Gunn or Matt Reeves or both saying "Hey this Arkham show that was originally a GCPD show that morphed into an Arkham Asylum show and was part of The Batman universe is cancelled. It's not happening as part of The Batman franchise. However, that does not mean that a version of said show can't happen in the DCU featuring the DCU's Batman franchise's villains. I cannot believe anything Grace Randolph says about DC. SDCC is in just over 2 weeks, so I think it would be nuts to get casting news. Even with actors in mind, that's before the film even hits pre-production. It could've been a cool idea but I think they need to focus on making these movies connect at some level weather it be theme, story etc... Where there is smoke there is fire. Gunn has been plagued by accusations of lies for a long while. Think of the Gadot situation. Whom do you believe - Gadot or Gunn? The Cavill disaster. His canceling projects but more importantly his vision for a B/C centered DCU is finally, hopefully, running into opposition at WBD. He is making basically a JLI film featuring Superman. Is that what fans are asking for? Judging by the social media blowback on the BTS stuff - no.

I'm not so sure he will be. We've already got Lex Luthor, The Engineer, Maxwell Lord and his whole corporation, plus a potential Superman clone as antagonists/obstacles in the way of Superman. Intoducing Lobo as well would be a bit too much, even for Gunn.
That's what I think too - but people are interpreting it differently everywhere online due to the major trade articles painting the story in a fairly obscure way, somewhat including the DCU iteration as part of the cancellation also. I think the trades got a 'confirmation' from a source that the Batverse iteration is dead (obviously) and since they know it evolved into something else, they're assuming the whole thing in any iteration is dead.
Sorry, but I think Gunn is full of shit when he says he didn't know the other permutations of the Arkham show. Always part of the DCU my ass. How long was it assumed it was going to be part of the Bat-verse, and Reeves never thought to clarify it was actually going to be part of the DCU instead? Give me a break. Gunn took it from Reeves in some type of power grab, and likely never had any intentions of doing anything with it. The only other possibility is Reeves willingly gave it over to Gunn, but neither came out and said that was the case when that would have been the best thing for them to do. Instead you have Gunn claiming it was always part of the DCU and pretending he didn't know of any other incarnations. As good as the news was that Serkis said filming for The Batman Part 2 will start early next year, I still just can't shake the feeling something ain't right. I still lean towards it happening, but I just can't shake this itch in the back of my head it could still be cancelled.
Agree about Gunn. He canceled Superman and Lois and rumor is MAWS may end after this season. Plus, the way he treated Cavill and Gadot. Either Gadot or Gunn is lying about that, and my bet is that Gunn is the one lying.

If I could either have The Batman 2 or the Arkham show then screw the show. It makes sense because there’s so much workload on Matt Reeves desk like The Batman 2 & 3 which would take top priority not to mention it’s taking quite a while to get one thing done. So it makes sense and I’m totally fine with it.
I dont think we're going that old. I would say mid 30s to very early 40s would be the ideal age for Bruce at the time of filming the first film. The script hasnt been finished, as far as we know they dont even have a writer. So i cant imagine they start filming any time before 2026 because even once the script is done you need time for pre-production, to make costumes, props, build sets etc for at least a year. By then Karl Urban would be a 54 year old man playing batman with a 33 year old Superman.
He'd definitely make a better Batman than he would Johnny Cage. Literally one of the worst castings of all time. Urban is a great actor but I've never seen him play a character even close to Johnny Cage. I guess that's what happens when studios hire which ever actor is 'hot' *Tom Hollan/Nathan Drake
One of my big issues with Gunn is that his universe is too broad and has too many characters. Cutting back makes sense. If not, the odds are there are few sequels let alone trilogies and for many characters it will be one and done. Heard a discussion about the core characters - Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash and Aquaman and how most probably won't get standalone films or sequels as there are not enough film slots given the majority of them will be given to B/C characters. The people arguing this think WW and Flash will get a single film each. Only Batman gets a sequel with the next Superman appearance being in JL and with Aquaman making his first appearance in JL. The assumption being JL will be the last DCU film in 2035 and set up the next reboot. In any case for those not interested in the large majority of B/C listers the DCU will not be our cup of tea.
I honestly never cared for the Arkham series. I think Swamp Thing, Waller should be replaced by a Flash show, Green Lantern movie and JLI movie. I don’t want a 20+ project filled chapter 1.
Yet again people are shouting doom and gloom about the Reevesverse with this announcement even though it had nothing to do with that franchise anymore.
Hey @BobaTalks, in past DC news round up videos you tend you use fan art of Alexandria Daddario as a fancasted Wonder Woman assuming we'll be getting a Wonder Woman project in Chapter One apart from Paradise Lost in some form or another, whether it be an animated show, film, or live action film. Let's face it we're getting a rebooted wonder woman anyway. My question is, is that who you would want as the DCU wonder woman considering you use it whenever you have a segment about that character or is there another actress in mind you'd like to see? We kind of have to have the trinity in their own solo projects if Superman and The Brave and the Bold is anything to go by. If it is her, I couldn't agree more. Keep doing what you're doing. @harryrao4296 I mean James Gunn does have an 8-10 year plan for Chapter 1 alone. So yes it is assumed that a wonder woman project is within this Chapter. He even confirmed to debunk a rumor that the character wouldn't appear within the first three years of his planned projects meaning she is getting a project within the first three years. A lot of fans including me want this for the dcu

The Arkham asylum series being canceled rumors have major weight behind them because of WB’s past history of canceling projects. Like how the old 2000s justice league movie didn’t happen or how they canceled a Batman movie and cyborg movie for DCEU. So it’s so easy to think that Warner Brothers will start canceling projects again like Arkham asylum, swamp thing, and authority because of a new DC Bargo being put into place or something silly like that.

Lobo should not replace Krem. The entire story is the hunt for and ultimately death of Krem. If Lobo is part of the story that would be cool being hired by Krem or the girl to go after Krem that would be neat.
I think the Arkham series is shelved not canceled he just i matt reeves couldn't juggle tow projects at once , he will get around to it later.
Matt Reeves also wrote the part of Jim Gordon with Mahershala Ali in mind. But Mahershala had just been offered Blade and turned it down because the two roles would conflict schedule wise, which is hilarious in hindsight. I’m sure he’s spewing about that. Regardless Jeffrey Wright was not too shabby a consolation prize. I think he fit the role better than Mahershala would have in the end.

Tbh I'm so excited for the dcu but at the same time I'm so confused about it. I'm having a hard time knowing what exactly is Canon. Even gunn's video no longer fully applies. For example Shazam is no longer considered Canon which good but there are also projects coming out that are considered elseworlds and some that aren't? Plus there is the whole peacemaker situation that im so curious about and blue beetle being canon but not he movie even though the director of the movie claims they're moving forward within that universe and james gunn never said anything about it. It just feels messy right now. I know creature comandos is the first project based in the dcu so I know it's still too early and in it's development stages. I'm trusting James gunn but I do think we'll need an update on the universe sometime soon.

I'm all for Jason Momoa showing up as Lobo at some point in the DCU, but based on how the story of the comic goes as is and knowing they're doing a direct adaptation of the comic, I don't see a fitting place for Lobo to appear.
I would be bummed if they replaced Krem with Lobo because Krem is quite a different character than Lobo in a number of ways and Krem is a really good and effective villain as he is, so I would love to see Krem be the villain in this (plus, if they stay faithful to the way things are resolved at the end of the comic and the themes it addresses, using Lobo as the main villain would make no sense, because it would essentially leave Lobo as a one-off villain, and that would be an injustive to the character). As far as a bounty hunter that Krem hires, none of the people Krem hires in the comic have enough "screentime", so to speak since it IS a comic, to really justify a big scene-stealing character like Lobo. Plus, speaking to DanielRPK himself, while I know he's made several right calls in the past, I've been keeping tabs on him lately and most of the major rumors I've seen of his regarding the DCU have been off the mark so I tend to take what he says regarding the DCU with a grain of salt.
Not to say that it isn't true or that they couldn't alter the script a bit to feature Lobo as a side character, but I would not want to see Krem get thrown under the bus just to accomodate Lobo as the main villain (because of how good a villain Krem already is) and, as the comic currently is, I don't see where Lobo could fit in the story in a way that justifies him being there.
What I COULD see, though, if they're actually looking at Jason Momoa for "Woman of Tomorrow", is potentially casting Momoa as Krem. That would be a REALLY interesting casting decison to me.

I'm honestly kind of glad Arkham is cancelled, and I'll explain why: When creating a cinematic universe, there are only so many project slots to fill. And I want those slots to be filled by Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, GL, Martian Manhunter, Blue Beetle, Green Arrow, Titans, Atom etc. Giving any one of those slots to projects like Arkham Asylum or Lobo or The Authority or Waller is a complete waste in my eyes, as those stories could've easily worked even better if implemented into other heroes' films. I'll put it this way: watching a solo Lobo movie is like eating just the caviar with a spoon - it's fine, but would've worked a lot better as part of a larger meal.

But isn't that kind of like saying the Guardians of the Galaxy would have been better off being featured in an Avengers film, rather than having their own series of films? At the time, not many people were hardcore fans of the Guardians and some didn't even know who they were. Yet Gunn was able to bring something new and fresh and fun to the MCU. These are now beloved films by many who were introduced to them for the first time through the first Guardians movie. If they were merely background characters in an Avengers film, we wouldn't have gotten nearly as much character development or interactions between all the different characters. A lot would have been left out.
Personally, I've been an Authority fan since the comics first came out and I never could have imagined they would get their own movie, so I'm thrilled to see them actually get their own film. I think if other fans who don't know them keep an open mind, they might possibly discover a new favorite as well.

I cannot believe anything Grace Randolph says about DC. SDCC is in just over 2 weeks, so I think it would be nuts to get casting news. Even with actors in mind, that's before the film even hits pre-production. Also, I definitely think Lobo is more likely to replace a bounty hunter Krem hires instead of Krem, and that just introduces him before another project,.
It could've been a cool idea but I think they need to focus on making these movies connect at some level weather it be theme, story etc... I think having to many of these shows and movies that don't really matter that much is a bad thing and thats why the DCEU failed but this is so confusing I have no idea what exactly is happening

That's what I think too - but people are interpreting it differently everywhere online due to the major trade articles painting the story in a fairly obscure way, somewhat including the DCU iteration as part of the cancellation also. I think the trades got a 'confirmation' from a source that the Batverse iteration is dead (obviously) and since they know it evolved into something else, they're assuming the whole thing in any iteration is dead.

Sorry, but I think Gunn is full of shit when he says he didn't know the other permutations of the Arkham show. Always part of the DCU my ass. How long was it assumed it was going to be part of the Bat-verse, and Reeves never thought to clarify it was actually going to be part of the DCU instead? Give me a break. Gunn took it from Reeves in some type of power grab, and likely never had any intentions of doing anything with it. The only other possibility is Reeves willingly gave it over to Gunn, but neither came out and said that was the case when that would have been the best thing for them to do. Instead you have Gunn claiming it was always part of the DCU and pretending he didn't know of any other incarnations.
As good as the news was that Serkis said filming for The Batman Part 2 will start early next year, I still just can't shake the feeling something ain't right. I still lean towards it happening, but I just can't shake this itch in the back of my head it could still be cancelled.

If I could either have The Batman 2 or the Arkham show then screw the show. It makes sense because there’s so much workload on Matt Reeves desk like The Batman 2 & 3 which would take top priority not to mention it’s taking quite a while to get one thing done. I dont think we're going that old. I would say mid 30s to very early 40s would be the ideal age for Bruce at the time of filming the first film.
The script hasnt been finished, as far as we know they dont even have a writer. So i cant imagine they start filming any time before 2026 because even once the script is done you need time for pre-production, to make costumes, props, build sets etc for at least a year. By then Karl Urban would be a 54 year old man playing batman with a 33 year old Superman.
He'd definitely make a better Batman than he would Johnny Cage. Literally one of the worst castings of all time. Urban is a great actor but I've never seen him play a character even close to Johnny Cage. I guess that's what happens when studios hire which ever actor is 'hot' *Tom Hollan/Nathan Drake

One of my big issues with Gunn is that his universe is too broad and has too many characters. Cutting back makes sense. If not, the odds are there are few sequels let alone trilogies and for many characters it will be one and done. Heard a discussion about the core characters - Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash and Aquaman and how most probably won't get standalone films or sequels as there are not enough film slots given the majority of them will be given to B/C characters. The people arguing this think WW and Flash will get a single film each. Only Batman gets a sequel with the next Superman appearance being in JL and with Aquaman making his first appearance in JL. The assumption being JL will be the last DCU film in 2035 and set up the next reboot. In any case for those not interested in the large majority of B/C listers the DCU will not be our cup of tea.

Let's face it we're getting a rebooted wonder woman anyway. My question is, is that who you would want as the DCU wonder woman considering you use it whenever you have a segment about that character or is there another actress in mind you'd like to see? We kind of have to have the trinity in their own solo projects if Superman and The Brave and the Bold is anything to go by. If it is her, I couldn't agree more. Keep doing what you're doing.
