Well its the next day and after getting back last night about 10pm we called it a night and headed home to get some much needed sleep after a long ride there and back ! So the next morning I picked up Jacob and headed to the farm to unload the 770, Jacob did a fine job loading it and he climbed right back on to unload it and off it came with really no trouble at all. After the unload we got into a little BSing about things and talking about the tractor and what the former owner did with it when he had it and what I'm going to do with it. I wonder how many will get the Hoyt Clagwell reference and what TV show it was on ? We'll see I guess. LOL I got to give Jacob a Special Thanks for going on this adventure and for loading and unloading the Oliver 770 cause without him going I would be up a creek without a paddle ! It was a long drive there and back but it was a fun adventure for both of us. I hope you enjoyed watching. Bandit
Well as they say you use what you got ! I've loaded and unloaded more tractors than I care to think about just like this and the pucker factor was always quite high ! LOL I think one day up at London Ohio I drove 14 or 15 different tractors onto truck and trailers, Made a couple hundred buck doing this that day. One guy sees you do this and he had to have me do it cause he really didnt want to do it himself so I got paid to load it for them. I had nerves of steel back then mainly because I was young and dumb, Now I look things over a lot more than I used to. I'm really glad Jacob both times jumped right up in the seat to load and unload witch made me very happy ! LOL Bandit
I think she was a really good by getting it bought cheap enough, This tractor around here is $2000 up so it was cheap enough to take a chance on. When you buy something on an on-line auction all you got to go by is what it says in the add and the pictures of it so it can be a real gamble buying something. like this. But I took a chance and it paid off big time on the corn head and tractor ! I love the sound of these tractors , So smooth and quiet and has a purr to them, You dont mind running one all day long. Bandit
There are several more coming on the 770 for sure ! I've always wanted a 770 for a lot of reasons but mainly because of the way they sound, Smooth and quiet with a purr to them , No one else ever came close to the sound of an Oliver they have a sound all there own . A good going over and clean up and a little paint work and she will look really good ! Bandit
The 770 is not a bad looking tractor at all but with a little clean up and a little paint she will look even better ! I dont know why but these Oliver have a sound all there own, Quiet and smooth with a purr ! They just sound so good to me when there running right, This one has a little miss to it so I'll be going threw it and checking the points and condenser gap rotor button and cap plugs and wires and carb and I'll bet she purrs like a kitten then ! Your the 2 person who got the Green Acres reference right ! Bandit

Oliver is a hot market right now in Ohio. You picked up a 770 and Andy (Harmless Farmer) picked up a 1600 gas. Truth be told, when Oliver was being made, there were several real good Oliver/Moline dealerships in Ohio. Much like today, the color you run has more to do with the service available than anything else. Too bad, the business market of today hasn't figured out that service is still the key to customer success and thus the mfg success.
Bill I've run a lot of different tractors over the years and I like the Oliver tractors over others simply because there just more comfortable to run and once your on one Oliver your on them all because there all alike in there set up. It helps to have a good dealer close by too like I have . The other thing about the Oliver's is there pretty easy to work on too . If I have something go wrong out in the field I can get Harry to come out to look at it and its not going to cost me a fortune like if I called JD or IH ! Its like last year when I was disking for my cousin and lost hydraulics on the 1850 in the field with a new hydraulic pump installed months before, Harry came up and worked on it for several hours trying to figure it out and get it working to get it home, I would have hated to see the bill if JD would have done it ! LOL Service is the name of the game but they sure rake you over the coals doing it now ! Bandit

Its funny how a lot of the Oliver tractor parts will bolt up to each other and being they were built at the same time I'm sure a lot of the stuff does interchange. I've never had a 770 with the hydra boost so I'm going to have to learn all I can about it but the one in mine seams to work pretty good so I want to keep it that way. I'm going to look for a set of side panels and if I can find one the step/tool box for mine cause it sure makes it easer to get on and off it. I might make a step for it so its easer to put fuel in it cause thats a pain in the butt to do ! Bandit

You made a good buy on the 770. That thing starts right up and seems to run well. Like you said, a tune up will do it a world of good. Also, who knows how old the gas is or what's in the tank. One word of advice. You and Jacob better be careful about setting up your camera opposite of each other (like you did at the beginning before you unloaded). You realize that if those 2 camera pick each other up, you could cause a crack in the space/time contiuum and possibly cause the universe to explode at the speed of light. Just thought you ought to know... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Seriously though, really enjoyed the video. Will be interested to see what you find as you begin to go over it, and I know you'll do that thoroughly. And I hope Jacob understands that it IS the right color of green.
I think the 770 was a really good buy for sure and if I needed to sell it I know I'll make money off it no problem, But I kind of plan on keeping it mainly because I've always wanted one ! I sometimes wish I had some different cameras to get better shots but you work with what you have. A few times there was a did we enter the twilight zone moments and we saw a few things I thought I'd never see Like an Amish kid on roller blades just getting it up the side of the road ! LOL Jacob is really not hip on anything green , The JD thing I'm not sure on but the Oliver thing is from his dad buying a new Oliver 1365 and had a lot of problems with it. But he sure seamed right at home on the old 770 ! I told him if he ever used one to do hay with he would love it and make a believer out of him ! The Fords are good tractors to make hay with but I'd rather have an Oliver to do it with because of the 2 speed and its a lot heaver witch will make it a smoother ride and get a lot less baler bounce too ! I got a few surprises when I started going over her and you'll see that in the video's to come, Sure made a big difference in the way it runs ! Bandit
@@banditfarmer1900 Looking forward to seeing what you found out about the tractor as you began going over it. I knew Jacob definitely didn't like JD's - that's been pretty clear from watching his videos over the years. However, I didn't realize he had a thing against Olivers. If his opinion is based on his Dad buying an Oliver 1365, that's really a good way to make a judgement, because the 1365 was just a Fiat tractor that was simply distributed by Oliver, so it was not a true Oliver. My mechanic friend Joe had one up at his farm to work on last year and called me to come see it. He then proceeded to show me all the stuff he didn't like about the design. He hated working on it too, although he loves working on "real" Olivers.
@@pagrainfarmer There some Oliver's I wont touch with a 10 foot pole like any of the Fiat made Oliver's or the 500 or 600 David Brown built Oliver's and the 1855 and 1955. The 1855 and 1955's are just know for bad engines and getting a good one is about impossible . I've welded the blocks on several 1855 and 1955 that threw a rod out #3. New rod and piston and bearing weld the block back up grind it down and peen the block to make it look normal and send it down the road. They all have had there red head step child they wanted to get rid of but couldnt ! LOL Ford had there problems too just like JD or IH or even AC had there problem tractors. I've never owned any new farm equipment its always been well used but you learn pretty quick what to look for and what to stay away from so I dont mind running any tractor but when it comes to buying one its Price and condition and will it do what I want it to thats most important to me. I'm really surprised Jacob doesnt have a IH 460 or 560 to tell you the truth or even a H or M beings he likes IH so much. But he can run what he wants its his money not mine, Mine goes for Oliver's ! LOL Bandit
Hi bandit, well you talked me into it now i want an oliver tractor and hire jacob to haul it lol. It may make my reds sad but they will be ok lol. Thanks for sharing......roy
It's funny how stuff just pops up when you least expect it to to buy, I was wanting the corn head and got it bought and when the 770 came up well I just had to have it ! There is nothing wrong with any tractor like a IH H or M Oliver like mine AC D17 MF 65 they will all do a great job. A good dealer makes a tractor in my book and over the years I think I've owned about all the brands at one time or another from AC MM JD IH LONG Oliver Cockshutt Ford MF MH but I ran what was around here so I ran a lot of them. I dont care what color it is as long as the price is right and it will do what I want it to I'll run it ! A good 770 you would love cause there very quiet and sound so smooth, Nothing like an angry red bird ! LOL If you bought one I think Jacob would surely haul it for you ! Bandit
Some people will say to leave the paddles on the cross auger off. That they throw ears out, over the snouts, and the ears will feed in to the feeder house without them.
I hear the same thing many times, So guys love them so hate them but these are worn just enough to make me want to leave them alone till I try it the first time and see how they work. Bandit
@@banditfarmer1900 We welded two hog panels together, one flipped over. About 3 feet wide. Welded two hinges on the and welded the hinges to the top plate of the head. The panels cover the feeder house opening and lays on top of the inner half of the two inside snouts enough it won’t fall down on the auger. This stops almost all the ears from flying out. Can be folded out of the way if need be.
@@Ron52G I've seen a lot of different types of screens put over the auger to keep corn from flying out of the head, But I think I'm going to clean the head up and paint it and use it and see how it acts before I go making anything for it. If I have need of something I'm sure I got stuff sitting around to make one out of. But I just want to try it out first and see how the combine and corn head does and go from there. Bandit
I've done the same thing many times, My problem is I dont have any good ditches around the farm to do that on. But when we unloaded the 770 in front of the barn the front of the truck is about a foot lower than the back of the truck making the angle of the dove tail a lot less steep . Ideally a good loading dock would be better but you work with what you have. Bandit
I think it wont take much to clean this old girl up and get it running right, An oil and filter change go over the engine and give her a bath and a little paint work and she will look really good ! I've always loved the sound of these tractors so quiet and smooth and has a purr to them , You just got to love a tractor like that ! Bandit
Oh she will be in the barn for sure as she is a good looking girl for sure ! I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to add onto one of the barns to get more inside. I gave $1400 for the 770 so I had to buy her and add to my Oliver line up and she fits right in with the rest of them. I really like the 770 simply because they run so good and sound so good and there just a really handy tractor to have around the farm to do the smaller stuff and can fill in out in the field if needed, There a great hay making tractor too ! Bandit
I never knew what the tractor was in the show but they always called it a Hoyt Clagwell ! If anything I figured it might have been an old Ford because they had other Ford tractors on the show. Bandit
Well its pretty simple his mom and dad have both been sick this year at different times so Jacob has been doing most of the work around the farm and between the chickens and cows and all the eggs and doing all the vegggies flower and sweet corn he has been super busy. Plus he got a new girlfriend so guess who gets most of his free time ! LOL Bandit
I think the 770 was the only ones that got the checker board grill in them and I think they were 66 and 67 models the last 2 years they were made. The fenders have been off the tractor for sure and the way the U bolts look they have been moved around before a bunch. I helped put a picker on an 88 several times and that is a real job to put on or take off ! Its hard to say what the former owner did with the tractor but being its narrowed up like it is I think it was his spraying tractor if I had to guess, But he could have had a picker on it cause his brother told me they used to ear pick all his corn to sell so its hard to tell at this point. Bandit
If its that one guy NO THANKS ! LOL But if its someone else we'll have to talk about it if I need them as I'm not 100% sure there not on it now. When you got so many you hate to think about filling the fuel tanks cause there all empty you might have too many tractors ! LOL But its a fun problem to have ! Bandit
Very true, But that smaller tractor will get used more than the bigger one, Every farm has a go to tractor for small jobs around the farm to keep from putting hours on a big tractor. Most of the time there cheaper to run more nimble and easer on and off than a big tractor and cheaper to rebuild when the time comes. A guy has to be smart enough to know what tractor to use for the job needing done. Bandit

Bandit
@@banditfarmer1900
We welded two hog panels together, one flipped over.
Bandit
When I unload my 5th wheel trailer I pull it in a ditch so I don’t need the ramps and it’s much safer ! Just an idea
Bandit
Looking like u got yourself something to do
I think it wont take much to clean this old girl up and get it running right, An oil and filter change go over the engine and give her a bath and a little paint work and she will look really good ! I've always loved the sound of these tractors so quiet and smooth and has a purr to them , You just got to love a tractor like that ! Bandit
Hello looks great Don. Need to keep it inside. Have a great day. How much was that tractor?
Oh she will be in the barn for sure as she is a good looking girl for sure ! I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to add onto one of the barns to get more inside. I gave $1400 for the 770 so I had to buy her and add to my Oliver line up and she fits right in with the rest of them. I really like the 770 simply because they run so good and sound so good and there just a really handy tractor to have around the farm to do the smaller stuff and can fill in out in the field if needed, There a great hay making tractor too ! Bandit
I always thought it was funny he drove a D john deere in the intro
I never knew what the tractor was in the show but they always called it a Hoyt Clagwell ! If anything I figured it might have been an old Ford because they had other Ford tractors on the show. Bandit
Is taht Gas or diesel?
It's a gas 770 Oliver, I dont think I would buy a 770 diesel for several reasons but a gas is alright by me . Bandit
What has happened to Jacob not many videos from him 🤔
Well its pretty simple his mom and dad have both been sick this year at different times so Jacob has been doing most of the work around the farm and between the chickens and cows and all the eggs and doing all the vegggies flower and sweet corn he has been super busy. Plus he got a new girlfriend so guess who gets most of his free time ! LOL Bandit
Hoyt Clagwell / Green Acres
You know your TV shows ! Not many people remember this one but I sure do. Bandit
If it had a picker on it they would have removed the fenders. Checker board didn’t come until 64
Bandit
Don't forget the late 550....lol we have a checker board 770. She's one of my favs. Narrow power steering
@@bigfoot-wo3qy Yup forgot about the 550, They were just like the 770's and were built years after the others in the series ceased production . Bandit

Where’s your case 830
He sold it. Has a video on it leaving.

It got sold to nick and trashed
Big Bertha was sold back in March and sadly she is not looking as good as she did. Bandit
Umm 6 tractors is a good start lol. I know a guy that has a couple of the swivel blocks for the other remote
Bandit
It’s not that guy I was talking about me lol
It good lol I’m up to 12 I thank lol I can’t remember all of them
When you got to stop and think about it you might have too many ! LOL Bandit
@@banditfarmer1900 lol u might be right I’m going to get 2 more Tuesday lol
Green Acres
LOL you got it right ! Not many people remember this one or Green Acres ! Bandit
You can do a small job with a.big tractor but you cant do a big job with a small tractor
Bandit
