I had a fuel pump on the side of the fuel injector go bad on a 4430. It worked great after replacing the pump. I didn't finish watching this video, but your tractor is acting exactly how mine did.
It's probably an economic reason. If something is bad on it, it could cost more to fix than it's monetary worth. Sometimes people just parked and once it sits, it's hard to get going again.
Too much ether? Ya think? You should have cracked injecter lines to get the air out. You wouldn't have had to use so much ether. That shit is hard on those 11:31 old engines. I was a Deere mechanic back in those days. 50 Series were pretty good tractors. Smoke could be coming from the old fuel. Or yeah, someone could have turned it up. Is the seal broken on the injection pump? Make sure and change that filter down in the hinge area, and that you have good pressure to the hi-lo, two speed planetary. That was a weak spot in them. They all had a whine to them. Definitely check the end play on the axle bearings! Good luck!

We'd drop them off at the local JD dealer, the guy would show up with his cleaing trailer and spend a day or two cleaning filters. Dry and bag and the dealer would do the invoicing for the guy. He'd inspect every filter after a basic blow-out and, if it was bad, he'd call us and let us know.
