Well - the wet Soil you have sure grows Healthy weeds They're doing just fine. Anyway , Nice work getting that Disk all reconditioned and ready to roll. that as a lot of work. Now just hope you get the right weather conditions for planting seeds this week -- hopfully no Tornnatos and thunder storms and such
To me its funny that guys plant a cover crop on there ground to have a living root in the ground to hold the soil in place, We dont have to plant one cause come fall one starts growing thanks to Mother Nature ! If in the early spring you see clean fields you know they sprayed it in the fall. About 15 years ago dads IH disk had a tree fall on it in a storm (40" tree) and it was locked up in transport and it bent up the disk frame and wheel assembly pretty bad. I told him I would find a good frame and fix his disk back up and last spring I found one at a sale and bought it cheap. It took 4 or 5 days of work to fix it and it went from junk to a good useable IH 370 disk ! Last Tuesday night there was 8 confirmed tornados within 25 miles of me and the closest was 3 miles from the farm. There have been 54 confirmed tornados in Ohio sense the beginning of the year and normally we get 58 average for the total year ! We've had 4 1/2" of rain so far this month and its raining right now so field work is on hold for a good while so I got a few things to fix in the meantime to get ready for go time . Bandit
The truth is as I said I was trying to figure out how to put the video's I took together and they just weren't going to make sense so I shot this one and kind of put a bunch of stuff together and make it make sense and I think it came out pretty good. I got way too many irons in the fire you might say but I'm doing my best to keep up to date with you guys but it aint easy sometimes. Bandit
I'm sorry for not getting any footage of any of the tillage work but if you knew how crazy things have been for me you would understand why I just needed some quiet seat time in the tractor to think and clear my head. That said looking threw the video's I really couldnt figure out how to make it make sense so I made this video to really catch up on this years video's so I can try to work in some of last years video's so you can see what was going on last year. Being a one man show you simply run out of time real quick and why I really didnt post many video's last year. A lot of thing have been going on behind the scene you dont know about that have been on my mind and a lot of work done on and in the barn but I'm trying my best to keep caught up and keep the video's current so I can get some of last years put up so you can what all got done. I hope you enjoyed watching. Bandit
Man does it ever ! LOL I got way too many irons in the fire these days but when your trying to catch up on 2 or 3 years of back work well there just aint enough hours in the day to do it. Bandit
@@Thecasey34 At some point I've got to figure out how to show last years video's I took, Right now its me trying to figure out how to put stuff together in a condensed version that will make sense. I really do enjoy farming what I do and I've been doing this sense I was 5 I guess cause I grew up on a small farm and I guess its just in my blood. I knew early on I could never farm enough to do it full time so I do it on the side and get a lot of enjoyment out of it. You can farm small and still make a little money doing it just means you cant have shinny new stuff ! LOL But I love my old junk as some people call it ! LOL Bandit
Last few days have been kind of slow as its been raining a lot lately , A week ago we had some rough weather and there was 8 confirmed tornados within 25 miles of me so I'm really glad they were just north of me ! 2 years of dealing with kidney stones and a year of dealing with a covid "Like" illness and an abdominal hernia sure put me way behind on things and last year was catch up year and it hasnt slowed done this year ether. Bandit
You know it seams the older I get the more busy I get ! LOL There is no shortage of work that needs done around here between my house mom and dad and there house and the farm its a full time job just keeping up with yard work and maintenance on everything let alone field work. No rest for the wicked ! LOL Bandit
Wow, you really did have a lot going on. That's something about the powersteering hose on the 1850. That kind of stuff seems like a constant struggle. Just noticed that my PTO is leaking on my 1650, enough that I had to put several quarts of gear oil in it the other day. My friend Joe is going to take a look.
Charlie this is the way its been for the last year ! LOL But thats how I've been trying to catch up on work around the farm. The steel power steering line that broke is because the bearings in the narrow front are bad, When they go it puts a lot of movement in the steering box and its always the right side line that leaks or brakes. Its a real bugger getting to that line and even harder to get out and on the 1850 you just about have to go under the tractor belly to run a hose because there is very little room between the sub frame and the engine bell housing and hydra power. The steel line is 72" long but it takes a 78" to 80 " hydraulic hose to replace it because of the reroute of the hydraulic hose. I have several pto's that seep a little that I'm keeping an eye on because I'm really not looking forward to taking them apart to fix them ! LOL If it aint broke or pouring oil out leave it alone ! LOL I really hope its a real simple and quick fix . Bandit
@@banditfarmer1900 Well, since I wrote that last message, I drove the tractor up the mountain (you've seen PA mountains) to Joes - about 7 miles away. You know, I had to replace a hydraulic line similar to the one you described on your 1850. It was on the right side of my White 2-110. My buddy Ben (Joe's son) helped me change the hose (plus, he makes hydraulic hose). The original was steel and ran underneath the engine, but that line must have been put in before the engine. So we replaced it with a regular hydraulic hose.
@@pagrainfarmer With the engine out its real easy to fix that line but if not there is just no good way to run it except under the belly of it. The 1850 has about an 1/8" clearance with the steel line between the bell housing and frame and at the engine s dip stick its the same way so a hydraulic hose just wont fit so under it goes ! Sometimes the fix is just not pretty but it works ! SW Ohio can be flat as a pancake but it can turn into just like it is around you we just dont have mountains but we have deep valleys cut by lots of water running threw them so this part of Ohio has a little bit of everything in it and it makes farming very interesting to say the least and lots of different soil types to boot. Bandit
Hey Bandit, good to see you're after it. I thought about you when I heard about Cousin Scott's accident and passing. As I look around, there's fewer and fewer of us. You actually look pretty good, health wise.
Hay Bill I saw and herd about Cousin Scott Saturday night and I was shocked to say the least, To say it really hits home is no joke for me. One of my best friends was killed in a truck accident about 20 years ago so I feel for Cousin SBF and both of there families. I doing pretty good health wise but I sure do have way to many irons in the fire for my liking and its like today I spent the day doing yard work and get rid of some brush and some sapling trees around there house and boy did it ware me out ! They dont work the best in our ground as it tends to be sticky when damp, Even disking it wet will ball up a disk real easy ! I like the way they finish but knowing my ground like I do I dont think I want to put money into one. Bandit
LOL aint that the truth ! All I can say is these days I just go with the flow cause if I make plans they always get changed so I just wing it ! LOL Bandit
