Evil Opti Z No. They killed this channel, only preview bullshit. The channel now purely exists for advertising, nothing else.
You are not going to see any new episodes here again. Just the preview ads to get you to leave TH-cam and watch it on their site that they will try and make you pay for. Yes some of the shows are free, but what we all first came here for are behind a paywall (or will be once they get enough people on their site)

I know when these guys were forced to leave youtube frieburger was concerned about the young kids that would get into this stuff and now because of what motor trend made them do the youngsters can't participate unless the parents have a subscription

a lot of guys will disconnect the coolant lines on throttle body from the engine as the hot coolant can actually increase ait and decrease hp. I was thinking about even with them disconnected on mine the whole engine bay and intake heat soak after driving around. With that being said would there be any benefit to utilize the ports on the tb and cool them with a closed loop system? Maybe even integrate an ice box setup like a water to air intercooler type deal? I’d be interested to see if there is any gains that might save on fuel and add a little power too

one of my favorite shows ruined by a monthly subscription fee. roadkill, engine masters, hotrod garage, dirt everyday, house of muscle, all some of the best car related shows on YT... then bam... locked behind a pay wall. not cool motortrend, not cool.
Yup, i'm sure you go to work for free as well....i guess the $5 a month to watch all those shows and then some is too much of a financial burden OOOR i guess your favorite shows arent that favorite...

Thats because all the likes are on MTOD....and actually the model works well....you'd rather have youtube make all the add revenue vs the guys that actually create the content?
Rebel635csi You realize that most of the TH-cam channels that are making money are not making it from TH-cam ads right? They are making money from sponsorships. The more people that watch it, the more they can charge to talk about an item. Engine Masters already had this. By moving to their own site, they are cutting down the number of viewers so rather than sponsors paying them, they are making the smaller pool of viewers pay a fee to see it.
Their mistake was that they thought they could get all of their TH-cam viewers to move over and pay monthly.
and i have no issue paying that. Better yet it takes add revenue away from youtube...win win in my eyes.

I'm sure people will be complaining left and right that may have taken the short bus to school, but this happens to be one of the episodes you can watch for free.
You just have to watch it on their site and you do have to suffer through some ads. But is that really a serious complaint?

There are 36 episodes of Engine Masters available to watch. Episode 34 is titled "Turbo LS the Right Way!". There is not an episode titled "To Intercool, or Not to Intercool?" to watch. So, yeah, there are reasons to complain for paying customers, short bus or no short bus.
I don't know what you mean, or if you are saying YOU are a paying customer? I don't understand if you are suggesting that paying customers should be upset that non paying members are getting to watch for free?
I dunno, I am not a paying customer, so that's between MT and their paying customers, they may have legitimate gripes. My point is the non-paying people have nothing to complain about.
But in the description of this video, is a link to the full video. I did not pay attention to the title, I just know I clicked the link, and immediately watched the full length, 24 minute video that this clip was taken from. With the link directly in the description, it just doesn't get any simpler than that.

The most recent episode playing is Episode 36 "598ci of Torque vs. Horsepower!", so shouldn't "To Intercool, or Not to Intercool?" be Episode 37?
Why post a preview of an episode with a bogus number, that isn't even available to watch for paying Motor Trend On Demand customers????
No, this is a preview for episode 34 for the non paying viewers. (With a different title) The new episode for the premium subscribers is episode 36.
Cooler iat's due to the intercooler, cause cooler egt's and thus cooler after turbo but pre intercooler temps. Turbo runs cooler so transfers less exhaust heat to the air charge

David, you mentioned a blow thru carb set up performs ok at low boost with no intercooler. My question is, do you think the same theory can be applied to an EFI carb like the Holley sniper?
I'd say no because you have so much more ability to adjust so you don't have to run anything near as Conservative so ot makes so much more sense to intercool.
Why would the boost go down just by adding the intercooler the waste gate is going to open at the same pressure
Depends where your boost signal is coming from...if you're wastegate signal line is pre intercooler, the wastage will see 10psi for instance, but the manifold may only get 8 psi....if your wastegate signal is post intercooler than the turbo will just spin faster to overcome the pressure differential of the intercooler.
Isn't a sponge air filter the best type of air filter there is and why isn't many people using it today?

I know there is no replacement for displacement, but what needs to be done to an engine to increase max RPM? Might make for an interesting video to see how many revs you can get out of an LS engine.
Jim Cole you need to upgrade many components like the block, valve springs, piston, rods, etc. A new crankshaft with decreased stroke will also help as the way to go with high revving engines is small stroke and a big bore because there is less distance of travel which means you can increase the rate of how fast the travel is completed. Hope this kind of helps
Most important is valvetrain. There's a reason DOHC can have more rpm than ohv
I understand the need to reduce the moving mass in order to achieve higher RPM's, and the need to have a valve train that is efficient enough to work at the higher RPM's as well. Formula 1 engines are an example of how much can be achieved in this regard. However, my question and suggestion for a video is in relation to an LS or perhaps a Coyote engine, and would the cost of the endeavor be offset by performance or would it be a serious waste of time and money.

If they need money, make good video with one (or two) sponsorship for it. Like all the Tech channels (linustechtips for example), make great content with a main sponsor or two on the beginning of the video.
I don't pay for it, because if I have to pay all TH-cam Channels I watch 5$, it's make about hundreds of dollar all months only for youtube. It's too much for me. I'm not rich enough for it.
