    Boosting engines for cheap: "here we have this thousand dollar carburetor on top of this multi thousands blower...."

    • @OlavAlexanderMjelde
      @OlavAlexanderMjelde 2 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      Not forgetting the team of engine builders and tuners, dyno time :P
      But of course when they say "for cheap", it means you can of course try to find used parts also.. And "for cheap" I guess if you compare to what a prebuilt engine would cost, its still cheap, espeically if you have that sort of engine already.

      You can get a blower kit for an LS motor with a 6/71 and every piece you need to swap it for $4000. In the world of race cars any more, thats cheap. You could turbo it cheaper, but blowers are cool.

    Nice to have a video for free. I can’t afford another subscription TV service. Dulcich was right, back in the 70’s cost was the biggest limiting factor. One they were plentiful the price came down or wages caught up and technology came along to maximize a blown motors potential.

    Back in the 70s . I ran a paxton super charger on a 350 chevy . Had to make my own mounting kit .Used a blow through bonnet at first .Solid floats in a holly carburetor . The stock ones collapsed under psi . Fought the fuel psi to boost psi . Finally got my hands on a full carb enclosure .Which equalize the psi of the inside and out side psi of the carb . Changed the pump springs to get 12 psi of boost out of the pump . The 55 chevy pickup ran good after many hours of work . But I did win the battle . I think you can see why in the early days they were not in use very often .

      Honestly, Chinese turbos (ESPECIALLY cheap ones) are just so inconsistent. One manufacturer can have a wide range of quality control and part-to-part variance. You’re pretty much just gambling on a weather you get a grenade or not. But if you really don’t care about your engines health or reliability, then they’ll do the job. But I wouldn’t bet my life on one.
      And I do understand that there are some decent Chinese turbos, but they still don’t have the same quality as a more thoroughly tested more scrutinized design.

I personally prefer turbohargers over superchargers. YES, there's a bit of a lag with turbo's. But there's nothing like getting that awesome sound of a turbocharger and feeling the acceleration when your turbo spools up. Awesome content guys, very cool.

We could only find supercharger wise back in the day the vortex. Now when you look at one of these they look just like a turbo. Honestly they sound way different to. My Camaros been said it sounds like a jet plane coming. I mean I'm still getting some booze not all the Boost I want I'd rather have 25 or 30 lb of boost this thing puts out 8. I'm cranking over 750 horsepower out of this Camaro. I just was curious I mean why do they look so much like a turbo. I know when forces are in and the other runs off exhaust that's the difference but I was just wondering if you guys could do video explaining the difference. I'd love to put a superchargers on that on the demons and stuff I know that I'd be over 1200 to 1300 horsepower. But I don't think they make them for the LT1. I'm honestly considering pulling this engine out and putting a big block in it with a big huge supercharger on it. Maybe later this year that's what I'll do. But could you explain why they are so different these two kinds of superchargers the Vortech and the regular supercharger

    I wanna turbo my silverado. I have a 5.3 with a t56 with 4.11 gears. I have no idea what size turbo to use on a stock engine. I don't wanna blow it up. But definitely needs more power

    Pro charger is the optimum way to make boost. Heat saturation becomes a non issue. Good move sirs & thank you. Forgot, anybody can drive this to the grocery store also.I agree with Dolsich, "both", hands down. You guys are the 3 muskateers of teachers...

      turbo is optimum imo, no moving parts except internally in the turbo itself. it also give more power/torque, especially in the midrange. and its usually more fuel efficient

    can someone explain what they meant when in the end of the video that young guy asks the question, which is better, built, boost, or both ? and the other guys answer was both. how can you have both ? isnt it either one or the other? built or boost ?

    • @nolesy34
      @nolesy34 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they meant bone stock boosted vs built like stronger internals and cams and THEN boosted

    look into ATK crate engines, you get performance divison and custom build, pick the radical camshaft you always wanted to run , get the compression of 11 or 12 to 1 for under $7500.00
