Hi Sorry to bother you in case that you still keep and eye on these old videos. I've started at your beginning as your "up to date" ones are always leaving wanting more. I have a difficult time to find your friend Hiro's documentary of this adventure to Svalbard. Skiing and all isn't my jam, but I enjoy your outings even so. What I wanted to see more of was your animal encounters and the research work as well. I hope that you are all well out there somewhere around Alaska by now. Your travels through that channel in Canada (I believe) was among the most beautiful places I've ever seen, and my family sailed Höga Kusten and Sankt Annas Skärgård and more, when I was young. I do know about the timbers though as they were plentiful in and around Kvarken. (Sorry, all these places are in the archipelagoes in Sweden, and to some extent Finland.) Our boat was mahogany, and as the oldest non commissioned child, I've been on many a timber watch in my time. Yours, Ann
To all those who disliked this video, try to live a bigger life and pause to admire people like this who still preserve a sense of wonder and adventure!
Thanks for watching, hope you're doing fine during these times! We're still in northern Norway, where COVID19 restrictions are slowly being lifted. Boat life resumes almost as normal, except that friends and family from Finland can't visit me right now. Next summer's cruising plans are potentially ruined, but that's a small complaint in the grand scale of things! 🙂 PS. The year (2018) shown at the beginning of the video is wrong , oops! This happened in 2019 ;) I'm currently going through old footage in chronological order and in about a month I think I'll be able to start posting real time updates.
@@feastures How do you feel about the "exaggerated" crisis now? Have you lost any friends? Many have! Some people need to get hit over the head to get the message! There is no gain in declaring such a crisis, so stop believing the lies u r fed!
You my friend are living a life that I have dreamed of having. Maybe one day I'll get to have such an experience like yours, but with the amount of knowledge that you have I would be old by then. Still worth picturing and imagining it. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Walk a differnet path whilst you still can, open cockpit sailing in the Artic reminds me of sailing an open 60 to Antarctica, cold wet beautiful and just a little edgy. keep the videos coming loved your vid on heating solid and practical. I did Antarctica without heating it was worse than horrible the yacht was wet and cold and the only place to dry gear was the motor one of the reasons I use lots of wool gear. Was thinking of taking my alloy Kestallo 42 down to Tassie for a lap and think that little diesel heater looks great or maybe a toploading coal stove. My last trip across the southern ocean I only used candles to burn off the moisture not really enough when your hoveto in a storm for days on end. Would like to see loads more of your boating backyard, its still on my bucket list. Nice work
Such an amazing video. You are truly living the life. To see that kind of wild life in their natural environment is spectacular. People will pay thousands of dollars to see that and you get to experience it for free. All I can say is amazing.
It feels as if the time is nearing for us to step off our off-grid small farm to set sail. Watching you channel really made the arctic region sound very appealing. Very tempting, great content and we love your sense of adventure.
Das sind wunderschöne und beeindruckende Bilder! Ich finde es aber auch toll, wenn du nur auf dem Boot stehst und am Morgen Schnee schaufelst. Du hast ein besonderes Gefühl für Stimmungen. Vielen Dank!
Beautiful images! All the animals, the white snow/ice, the water so crisp and clear like glass. I wish I could have seen that with my own eyes. Thank You for sharing!
You really make sailing in cold places look fun. We do Patagonia next year on our sailboat...and we are praying our Cubic Mini woodstove, an engine heater and a little backup kerosene stove keep us warm on the boat, so we can have fun like you are! -Rebecca
Very nice! Summer cruising plans are most likely changed for all of us, we just need to replan and go with the flow, what ever that has to offer. It's a time to adapt and enjoy what we have :-) Thanks for sharing some great videos!
Was getting nervous watching you climb that hill, if you broke anything up in that part of the world the cavalry would be a long time coming and you would probably be on your own, be careful brother and stay safe, dont push it to hard, fantastic video btw
Oh my! Just what I was hoping to do this year but now probably won’t happen. Great everything. Can’t wait to see next week and your friends “pro” version too. Please let us know where and when we can find it. Thanks again Juho
Wow....just wow. Every time you release a video I don't think you can better the footage...then you do. Thank you for sharing. UK lockdown makes an adventure out of dodging the police questions about why you stopped for a breath while exercising or surviving a walk around a supermarket. Not recommended. Stay safe.
Spectacular! What a wonderful place on this beautiful earth. Loved the skiing. Please provide the information on your friend’s documentary. I’d really like to see it.
Pespisheros Heros you cannot imagine the COLD air on the open water. With respect, from Montreal, Quebec Canada. We cannot sail November to May our lakes are frozen.
So, well worth it, Juho. This footage! Wow, Even if it is from some while ago, got me behind my laptop in the brakes that moment nearly upon the rocks there:) Thanks for the time to edit and post it!! grtz.
Nice fix for my longing back to Svalbard. We sailed there in a small fiberglass boat. It was so fantastic, we went back the next summer. Now we're home, and our boat is in Panama (we were on our way to Patagonia).
It is very brave to travel the by a cruiser monohulk. You need to have a vey, very experienced guide to do that. Amazing. This is the time of your life!
I always loved cruising to the North during the summer to beat the crowds in Maine. My last summer in Labrador and Newfoundland I didn't see another cruising sailboat for four months after I left Halifax. During my circumnavigation, I visited Iceland, the Faroes, the Shetlands and on to the Southern Ocean, and the inside passage in B.C. Do yourself a favor and beat the crowds in popular low latitude cruising grounds by exploring the North. You won't regret it I guarantee you.
Thanks for the video, I'm so in love with the Svalbard islands. Nice way to skimountaineer them by sailing boat. Better than by snowmobile in Atomfjella.
@@AlluringArctic Absolutely! And I knew it. In 2018 I've been in the Okstindan mountains (close to Mo I Rana) in a solo trip and I was following a lot the snowmobile's tracks.
Pretty cool footage. Looks like you had a great adventure. I am sure there are not many people that can say "I skied down hill in the arctic circle on Svalbard Island"! Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic Juho thanks for sharing. Stunning scenery and wildlife. I noticed someone carrying a rifle, I assume for Polar a Bears. Did you see any signs of bears? Andy UK
Excellent, And thank you for putting this together. I think I recognize, maybe, some of those slopes. By any chance was the skiing in Magdalenefjorden? Love the videos.
Wow, awesome wildlife! And the skiing looked really sweet, too! Is it scary to sail through ice or do you get used to it with growing experience on how to spot and avoid it?
Was that a kiteboard i spyed in an earlier episode you put up? If so, Id love to see some snow kiting! Or even kiteboarding I guess Haha. Epic videos mate, keep it up!

Oh come on Archer, be a sport. :-) Juho's videos are absolutely excellent, but they wouldn't be ruined by some contextual bikini shots, would they?
Well they have to make money so they put their half naked girlfriends in the thumbnail to attract them thirsty views
If ladies in bikinis offend you, high latitude sailing videos should all be pretty safe.
