At this past Awesome Games Done Quick, $1,025,000 was raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. It only took a week of continuous streaming, 18,000 donors, and many many runners to achieve. A big thanks to everyone responsible for these amazing numbers, what a humbling achievement. For comparison, last year's event raised just under $500,000.

The music in Mega Man games is always phenomenal, and Mega Man 2 is no exception. Pretty much every stage has great music that gets you in the mood and only adds to the enjoyment of the game.
Quickman + Star Wars Episode 1 Racer: Abyss map. The two biggest nightmare unbeatable maps in my childhood.
whoever is reading donations during this run is doing it perfectly. Not conflicting with the speed run at all.

They tend not to read donations with ad hoc incentives anymore for this reason: they're disruptive and awkward. The worst that comes to mind was when some idiot convinced a couple of people to have a dance party with some oscillating fans, disrupting Feasel's _Zelda 2_ run in 2013 (which had some other announcer mistakes as well).
To be fair though, I thought the Mega Man block announcer did a very good job at AGDQ 2014. He doesn't talk too much, and puts the game in the front, while still reading enough donations to remind you that this is for charity. AGDQ ultimately realized that putting on a good show is what brings donations, and reading off the comments of everybody who can scrape together $5 does _not_ result in a good show.

Man this was the best AGDQ yet! Unfortunately missed a lot of it due to work and sleep (time difference Sweden-USA screwed my day-night-cycle a bit :D) so I absolutely LOVE you for uploading the runs here.
Can't wait till SGDQ2014 and even more so AGDQ2015.

Quickman's stage was one of the most impressive things in gaming I've ever seen

LOVE Megaman 2 its my favorite game in the series. Wish I knew how to get involve and help out for the next marathon :) I've finally decided on what game to start with for speed runs, and its this, Megaman 9 and Brain Lord for the Snes :)
I still have nightmares about the invisible block section in the Heat Man stage. Ugh. It caused me to rage-quit plenty of times as a kid lol.
I beat the game in 50-60 minutes. I always suck at air mans stage because those jumps on the platforms where the spikes are coming out are so difficult.
+Tedwan I honestly didn't realize Megaman could land next to those spike things right on the edge. Pretty amazing positioning by the dude in the video.
It's actually not too difficult to do it. But when you fuck up one single time you'll definitely die. Doing it consistently is the real difficulty ;)

Do these glitches work in localized versions of the game
they probably would, they were not into patching as much as later on between versions. So you should e able to do those glitches. They are harder then they look though. A lot of people keep thinking its easy but its not.
The only version that the glitches don't work in is the Anniversary Collection version. Every other English version has the glitches, including the Virtual Console version (since it's just the NES version emulated).
***** said that the glitches are hard to do, but there are some that are much easier than others (once you know the method). I'd say, if you wanted to try some of them out, do the zip in Heat Man's stage with Item 3 (you can drop down from the ladder, throw Item 3, and ride it up the wall, which makes it easier), the first zip in Metal Man's stage with Item 1, and the first zip in Bubble Man's stage with Item 1 (getting the position for throwing the Item 1 is harder that the zip itself, in this case).

Wow, so it is possible to beat the Wiley Castle stage 4 boss without dying. I had to use the crash bombs to break all the walls then died on purpose to go through the stage again recharging my energy supply for the crash bombs to defeat the boss since the walls that where destroyed are no longer there.

(lil late) heres my take on the skips and zips... it took someone some time to figure it out, its really neat to see. and its sweet that there are speedruns that can show many types of runs for one game. in mario we have different types of runs, and megaman is no differnt. i guess im saying is that people complaining that this guy isnt doint it right? ok hes beating a game in a short time and it takes ur normies YEARS to beat

What was the reason?
Japanese characters take less time than English letters to explain what you get. Usually that's faster. Also the Japanese version has one mode only, which is the hard mode.

It is quicker to cross the floating platforms in Airman with Item 1 than it is to cross the gap in Heat Man with Item 2.

Why use the airman weapon on woodman? A fully charged heatman atomic fire shot kills wood in one blast.
It is the japanese version, so he takes two charged heatman shots. Faster to kill with airmans weapon.

If I'm not wrong on hard mode (the only mode in the Japanese port) the atomic fire doesn't one shot Woodman.
