Flux core welding with a generator

I wanted to see how good a normal gas generator does at powering a welder, i did not want to spend 2500 dollars on a engine driven generator welder, this worked very well.

U just used my little lincoln handy mig with my little firman w2000i generator. Used .030 and .035 flux core and worked great. No surge and i also used my chopsaw

Make sure you get a Surge Protector, you can get a good one for 60-90 bucks and it will protect your welding machine from getting too much power so it doesn’t fry the mother board on it.
i use a harbor freight predator 9000 generator (non inverter) and using a surge protector will keep an inverter style welding machine from getting cooked.
FYI a transformer style machine like the old lincoln tombstone you have in the back will probably pop the breaker on your generator because they pull SO MUCH POWER.
but the smaller machines should be fine, looking forward to seeing more videos.

Should be running it with a inverter generator, as a regular generator will slowly ruin your welder due to " dirty power"

Damn so the 3750/3k running generator I have won't push the 110flux core welder I'm thinking it might be the harbor freight welder? It barely would make a spark

Well welders have large surges, it should run a flux core 110 machine, but you may be in the edge of what that generator will do, that’s why I went with this larger unit, it does it easy, plus I don’t feel like I’m pushing the generator too hard, which can damage it if done too often

inventors is that to hard to invent a battery bank to be conected to electricity all the time when we are using the battery bank to weld, meanwhile we weld, so we never be out of charge and the welding machine will be in operation all day!

Be ware that running it on propane you might lose a little power.
