My lease is up and I just removed this same MBRP exhaust from 16 Colorado V6. When I started it with the stock exhaust for the first time in 3 year I had to make sure it really started. LOL I loved this exhaust!!! Now I have to sell it.
@@TheStruggleville I made my little 1.8.liter Chevy Prizm about as loud... hard to guess not being actually there with your truck...but I assure you that little car had a truck muffler on it...Magnaflow style. Lol
I meant to use my sound meter for a before and after but was so excited to put it on I forgot all about the meter. On my 66 I have cherry bombs on it.... I ain't sneaking up on nobody 😂
Enjoy watching videos like these. How far did you go up? Just muffler and tip. Low end sounds nice and troughty but higher rpms it kinds sounds like those teenager in there souped up little 4 bangers. I went with a flowmaster on a 2000 Silverado that I just, bought with all the straight and no exhaust, muffler sounded nice on cold start but ratty on higher excelerations. Put in a flowmaster and much happier. May be swapping that out for a flowmasterand see if you like
Yeah its just the back half. Tailpipe, muffler, intermediate pipe to the flange. The hardest part about picking one out is trying to find clips to get an idea what it will sound like. Nothing really amazed me, these trucks just don't sound as good as a V8
@@TheStruggleville yeah. The V8 has a cool rumble from more every 3rd bang being twice as big as the other 2 bangs. The exhaust has the tone of more and less exhaust all the time. V6's are smoother so you won't get that oscillating rumble.
I bought this same exhaust and have had it for a few months now, I keep on getting a camshaft exhaust sensor popping up for my check engine light... how do I fix this? Help! I don’t want to put the stock exhaust back in to fix the problem..
I just shot a video of the new 2019 Colorado. I'm guessing it's about the same. I'm blown away at the size of the pipes and the apparent flow characteristics. I'll come out with it soon. I'm just impressed all around with Chevy trucks and their exhaust design and more.
Yeah, I forgot about that thing until after I had the old one out. Then I figured it didnt matter to use it for the new one when I didnt use it on the old exhaust. With the outrageously high taxes you'd think they would have money for all sorts of things.
That MBRP exhaust sounds so much better than the stock one. The stock one sounds like crap. And it sounds way better than the Tacoma. The Tacoma sounds like crap.
Thanks for posting this. How much louder than stock is it inside the cab? I'm looking for just a bit louder than stock. Do you think this fits my needs?
@@TheStruggleville Thanks. I may order a resonator to have on hand, just in case. I used one on a Corsa system transforming the sound from loud, tinny, and annoying to nice and mellow.
@@johnmascia7612 It was too loud for my taste. I ended up replacing the MBRP muffler with a long body Magnaflow muffler. It's still loud but not near the level of the MBRP muffler. I will say that the MBRP system is very well made especially at it's price point. Upping the pipe diameter to 3" does open up way more muffler choices than the original 2.75" system does. Here is an update on this exhaust, 4 years later - th-cam.com/video/GHTAUPH7AS0/w-d-xo.html
I feel like this is the best exhaust for this v6 that I’ve seen 😂
Just ordered this exhaust for my 2016 Colorado...after watching the video I'm impressed with the sound...cant wait to install it on my truck!!!
I have a 2016 colorado as well, was wondering how your exhaust turned out
@@jefhetzel2468 I added cold air intake as well and love the sound...sounds good for a v6

Is this the mbrp 3inch installer series
How has this exhaust held up?

Hi, is it good for traveling? I don't wanna it be too loud, i wanna it keep quiet when i don't push it
Damn, that sounds so much better. I was thinking about upgrading my ZR2s exhaust and now I really want to. Night and day, , WOW!
Don't do it man .... it sounds like a Honda civic .... I love my 2019 zr2 but hate the v6 sound
Does it have a "drone" at any rpm crusing?
God your original exhaust sounds like a Japanese rocket bike. Lol
Did you have to cut any of the pipe to fit the crew cab?
One pipe had to be cut about a foot. The instructions says exactly how much to cut but you have lots of room for error.
Loud outside. Seems mild inside. Great balance for some. The build always depends on what you're after. You know?
Yeah, I like my truck to be just like me.... loud and obnoxious 😉

Did you have to cut the pipe ? If so, what did you use to cut it ?
You might have to cut it, depends on your truck. I have the 5ft bed so about...18 inches or so had to be cut. I just used a reciprocating saw.
How is the drone? I installed one on my colorado and its bad under acceleration.

How are you averaging 18.9mpg mine gets 14mpg
Drive more conservatively. I get 22 mpg on my 2015 Z71
I get about 19-20 with 32s
What model of MBRP YOU got? Sound👍👍

Great video bro
Often wonder what stock with no resonator would sound like from outside. Usually the cat backs I’ve heard are noisier inside than out.
Thank you so much for indepth and informative video you just saved me alot of time and Money Great job.Sir.
Like the sound of your new exhaust better then the stock one
Did this increase or decrease your MPG at all?
I dont think their was any noticeable difference in either direction.
TheStruggleville awesome. Thanks.
Sounds alot more throaty and more tunner like with the new exhaust
Sounds pretty good after new exhaust
I remember, back in the 70's. Dual exhaust and glass packs. Gotta have some beefy sound on a truck. :D
I've never put glass packs on anything but my 66 Caprice has cherry bombs on it. One of these days you guys... and me.... will hear it running again.
awesome truck right there! can you tell me what the inlet size is to the original exhaust ?
...i wanna add a muffler tip for now
Proudly made in China
So is the device you just typed that on.
Sounds good 👍 ❤️
I’ve always wanted to upgrade my muffler to a flowmaster but the cheap ass inside me won’t let me do it until the muffler needs replaced
Sounds good. 👍 I have the GM Performance exhaust, KN filter with a throttle spacer. It’s not as throaty as yours.

Not sure if it's because I watched this on my phone or not, but it sounds like an oversized chainsaw now..... Exhaust is harder to do on a v6.
How much harder to do
I expected to see the decibel meter doing its thing, before and after for cabin noise. And... Illinois obviously has money for lots of road salt.

Which one is it for the 4 door ZR2? 61.7” or 74”?
Mine is a crewcab but the exhaust is universal. If you have a short bed like mine you cut about a foot off one of the pipes
sounds cold where you live.
and windy

Its louder, you can hear it but it wouldn't keep you from having a conversation with someone in your car. I never notice it when I have the radio on
