Years ago Chrysler was putting this into their Dodge Caravans overseas and I saw a test done on a 1998 with a 2.4 L version of the same engine and it got over 50 miles per gallon with a single person in it and went 1050 miles. Just a heads up about the Chevy 2.8 Duramax. There are no gauges for the turbo at all. Even more annoying is nothing to monitor particulate filter or do a manual regen. Usually there is no notification that it is doing one. Apparently you are suppose to be able to hear the difference, but I can't. I've had my truck in 6 times in 3 years for sensor replacement and manual regen. You can get a device called Autel 808 which is a scanning tool, but also allows you to monitor soot filter, time since last regen and most importantly you can do the manual regen yourself if need be. They cost a bit less than $500.00 but well worth the money. Chevy could have included more to monitor critical systems. other than that I have had no problems with my truck.
