No it's not the same. It's the emperor prioritizing the destruction of Luke's inner circle. The rebellion was always a problem for the emperor, but nothing like when Luke showed up. He naturally wanted the fleet destroyed too, but he knew Luke and friends would still be able to manage without a fleet more than the fleet could manage without Luke and his friends. Also, the first death star was never ordered to waste friendly units like the 2nd one was. Not the same at all.
What should they do then? Of course, the Royal Guards are among the most well-trained elite fighters in the Empire - but they're still nowhere near Vader's league. If they had attacked Vader, it would have been their death.
@@AaronStenchenberger-pv1dk it doesn’t matter if it’d be their death, the Royal Guards will and have to die for their job. They aren’t some random soldier who’s living a life they care about, the life of a Royal Guards is solely for serving the Empire and Emperor.
This would be in line with the Emperor's Operation Cinder plans. He was willing to destroy entire planets loyal to the Empire, so for Palpatine losing a few battalions is nothing if he could wipe out the entire rebel leadership.
When Darth Vader arrived on his shuttle, Jerjerrod was completely afraid of him - so why is he suddenly acting so arrogant and disrespectful here? Did he think that just because he had two royal guards by his side for the moment, Vader wouldn't dare attack him?

Yes, he was highly ranked but even he feared Palpatine and dared not stand against him. He was an instrument of the Emperor's will and existed only to serve, nothing more. This is further emphasized in his dialog with Luke: "You don't know the power of the Dark Side. I *must* obey my master." Vader wasn't talking about the power the Dark Side gave him. Han, Chewie and Leia would still have survived somehow. Their plot armor was simply too great. It would've sucked for all the Rebels with them, however. The Ewoks would've survived too because, well, they're too cute to crisp.
Episodes 4-6 were so good and the prequels were fun too. It's a shame they never made any sequels. Kind of like how I feel about how they should have made a Godfather 3.
I would suggest that in addition to rotating, they put serious distance between them and the moon before firing. A moon blowing up in the general area would not be good for a Death Star under construction.
When given the order to destroy the moon it the generator was destroyed Jerrijod should have ordered the battalion to prepare for evacuation so that they would have time to escape since the emperor didn’t say he couldn’t do that.
In other words, there was a rupture between them all. Something much more complex and adult. The simplification of the 'official' ending of Return of the Jedi made it easier for children, but with these developments of whether or not to destroy the moon of Endor and the officer's own conflict, besides his rivalry with Darth Vader, it created a very good environment for this film to address deeper themes, such as the army itself and its position with the Empire. Would they start a revolution against the emperor? I think so. There was no need for the rebels so much. It was just starting... I thought it was great to know a little more. It's a shame it wasn't explored, but in any case I loved the 1983 film.

Why wouldn't he have immediately ordered an evacuation off Endor? There was nothing in the Emperor's command saying he couldn't do that first. He could have issued that order to ground commanders and had them on standby. I think this will come up in his yearly appraisal.
Everyone wondering why he talked to Vader like that. Look at the way he points at him, and the way he says it so demeaningly. Palpatine 100% told him to say it exactly like that just so he could watch the security recordings for a laugh.
