Anakin is extremely powerful but far from infallible, and Palpatine has watched and learned his skills for years. Even if Anakin decided to kill the Sith Lord right there, I seriously doubt he could have succeeded. Sidious is still on another level and he knows it.

Also Palpatine himself says Anakin "will" become more powerful than either him or Yoda, implying he's at least close to as powerful as them then as such that getting the jump in a fight may be the difference. Furthermore the Obi-Wan comparison is moot. We know for a fact Anakin is far stronger than Obi-Wan even at the beginning of the film. Why? Obi-Wan gets tossed aside by Dooku like nothing, yet Anakin singlehandedly overpowers and kills him. This was before, of course, Anakin was further empowered by going over to the Dark side. Obi-Wan wins either due to plot contrivance or at least Anakin being overconfident and trying to defy the almighty high ground. In this encounter, Anakin was not overconfident so that wouldn't be a factor.

He wouldn't want Anakin to lead that civil war. Based on that fact Anakin joined the emperor and wanted just one thing in exchange. Padme. But she refused to join Anakin as apprentice of a sith war lord. That's why Anakin used the force against her expressing anger. It have the meaning "Bitch, I saving our lives so we can be together despite all. What about me? What about my children? What about my life? You are stupid and selfish."

Now that I'm older and more experienced, even without Palpatine's influence his actions make perfect sense. Yes he betrays the republic and the Jedi order the republic was **wildly** corrupt, as were the Jedi due to complacency. As bad as Palpatine was, he was right about a lot of things including the Jedi. Qui-gon and Dooku were the only ones that truly embodied the spirit of what a Jedi is supposed to be, which is..... ironic.

What if there's only oblivion? I think at that point Anakin didn't have anything left to lose.
"Be able too" means that too. Palpatine never guaranteed it. It was by Anakin's own hand that Padme died. Force choke leading to weakening her, leading to death at birthing the kids. Dark side has a use when controlled. Anakin lost control. That's on himself. He knows it too.

Ian McDiarmid is a fantastic actor and he is at his best playing the deliciously evil Palpatine , his smile he gives Anakin in this scene sends shivers down my spine and I love the way certain words he speaks with a different inflection in his voice sounding more like the Emperor , very chilling scene 👍

The prequels will eventually be appreciated as flawed but entertaining films. This will never, ever be the case with the sequels.
