      They weren't the only one though. Samsung has had 4 HDMI 2.1 ports since 2022 on the S95B. I'm not sure if there were any lcd's that had them as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were. I just don't get why Mediatek has refused to make a chipset that supports it for so long

    @aznhandles 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    The internal design speakers of 959 are beautifully made. This will omit the use of a soundbar and will complement the environment of the living room really well. However the size is not quite big enough. Wish they’d offer a 77 option as well.

    • @bwellington3001
      @bwellington3001 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Why cant they allow to connect rear speakers and sub to that integrated soundbar system? I mean it's good, but at the very least - some philips or BW branded should be compatible? Otherwise the offer kinda looks half assed, they reserve the best panels for the models with soundbar (like panasonic does) but wont let you to build around that soundbar system..

    • @SterkeYerke5555

      @@bwellington3001 I think something like that should be compatible, but it's probably still half arsed either way. I've been beta testing the 935 and 936 since 2020 and the output to the subwoofer - which Philips themselves bundled with the 935 we originally got! - still doesn't work properly. Worse still, audio and video still aren't synced with the integrated soundbar when using HDMI inputs, but Philips deny that that's a problem 😑

    • @bwellington3001

      @@SterkeYerke5555 the true rears is what truly makes a difference. You can get away with not having “bounced” speakers, but actual rears are necessary for surround. I have a small room and have 930b samsung - if you install dolby access on PC the upmixing is very convincing.

    • @83442handle
      @83442handle 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bwellington3001 Because the soundbar is specifically built so you don't need rear speakers. Thats how that soundbar is designed. If they designed it so that you can add subs and rear speakers the actual sound bar would need to be designed differently which would not benefit the purpose of the front sound design.
      If you want rear speakers or a sub just save money and get a LG G4 and then get a separate tiny soundbar system. There are so many TV options I don't see why people complain about Phillips going after the high end all in one solution.

    • @mrbeckham666
      @mrbeckham666 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      this is very stupid, this soundbar won't beat the Samsung soundbar anyway. it won't beat a mid-range home theater either, so in my opinion it's a stupid solution. OLED is usually bought by people who expect a cinematic experience and there is no saving on sound, but what do you pay for a soundbar that you will not use. because you're not so naive that it's free, are you?😊

    My preference is still oled but if you want to convince current LCD owners Fulfilled brightness is gonna have to be increased massively as it hasn't changed much at all since 2015, My current OLEDTV from 2015 Has a full free brightness of about 160 nits, this year's G3 lg's brightest offering only has a fulfilled value of 225 nits.

  • @PeeGeeTips
    @PeeGeeTips 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Can anyone explain what an actual doubling of perceptual brightness difference would be when it comes to nit measurements for peak brightness? From my understanding it’s based on a logarithmic curve so 2000 nits isn’t perceptually twice as bright as 1000 nits, unlike photography where 1 stop of exposure increase would be a doubling in brightness, so I’m curious as to where can I see a curve that does represent this that would theoretically include up to some of the 10,000 nit displays demonstrated at CES this year, if my LG C2’s peak brightness is around the 800 nit mark, what nits would genuinely be a perceptual doubling or even tripling of peak brightness?

Also I'm not wanting 144hz for smoothness I want it for input latency. The higher framerate you play at the lower the input latency is. I know I would have to have a beast of a PC to run 4k 120fps or even 144 in that matter but it's better to go ahead and future proof if you ask me. Oh boy, I'm approaching my 2nd week and never taken so long buying an electrical item before. People probably buy cars quicker than they buy TVs, but I blame the manufacturers for hiding certain details costing us time in research. An example are the panel types (VA and IPS) that they themselves tell us are important, yet keep quiet about in the specs! Playing mind games like this is taking the fun out of it. Fed up with listening to all the sales speech too - I may crack the next time someone tells me a TV is "breath-taking", "stunning" and "beautiful" but not mentioning that there are plenty of cons.

    Also, why all this focus on peak brightness rather than full white brightness? I have a very, very bright room and my TV will be behind the mirror that blocks a decent bit of light. So I really need a lot of practical brightness and exactly 55” to fit in the hole in the wall, no bigger.
    Do I simply have to use a mini-LED, or will the 2024 OLEDs finally be bright enough? Because I really like the look of this OLED technology better every time I compare them to backlit LCD crystals, even the best most modern mini LED backlight arrays… I just need more brightness.

I’m now preparing to send it back after a few days though as I just can’t justify the cost and I’m a poor man. I was legit considering keeping it obviously but primarily wanted to treat myself to an exercise in tasting something I probably. And afford. I was impressed but not completely blown away to the point I cannot possibly go without it.. Ideally I’d love to keep it though and the technology is impressive. And I can’t imagine what the tech shows when you start paying in excess of £2k and £4k..

      No. A typical LCD will still have brighter 100% window. 3000 is only at peak 1%, or as advertised 4%. It's very small details. Besides, how we perceive brightness nits does not work like that. You will not feel the same impact going from 1000 to 2000 as you do from 300 to 800. It will still be the best for dark rooms. It's not even close to real life brightness outside or how bright your lamps can get. Just try looking at them directly.
