EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley in Idaho Falls and Pocatello are partnering to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
A few months ago we received an email about a woman named Janna who jumped into action and helped save a baby who stopped breathing. It said:
Janna's neighbors found their 8-month-old baby not breathing and unresponsive. In a panic, they called Janna because they knew she knows CPR. Janna is a full-time caregiver for her handicapped daughter so all of her family has been CPR certified. They told her to hurry and come over because they needed CPR!!
She ran over with no shoes on at 9 am, not knowing what was going on but soon as she got there, she immediately started CPR on the baby boy. After some time, he started to gain a pulse and then an ambulance arrived. The family is so grateful their baby is still here with us after Janna was able to essentially save his life. They later sent him to Primary Children's Hospital and unbeknownst to them, found he has a heart defect.
We decided to thank Janna for her actions and surprised her for Feel Good Friday. Watch the video in the player above!

One thing I love about Nate Eaton is he actually lets people talk, rarely interrupts. Unlike other news people

Thank God she was home and able to help out that little baby. All parents, especially, should be CPR-certified, but in general it is a good thing for all to know.

For those who don't know: ten minutes of CPR is very long time. Not everyone could keep it up. It helps physically that the patient was so small but also it makes it mentally even more rough.

10 minutes is a disgraceful amount of time to have to wait for an Ambulance. Had this lady not have stepped in this child would not be living today .. ❤❤❤❤

I’m a retired construction job site safety officer with my medic BTLS cents…our job sites were often in the middle of nowhere…I once did cpr so long I got a hernia. I threw up but I couldn’t stop because even though I knew he was gone I had hundreds of fellow crew members watching. I’m their medic…people treated me differently on every job after that. They knew I would do anything to save them.

Hundreds of people watching and nobody offered you help? Nobody else had had first aid lessons to know how to give CPR? To know it's tough if you don't get breaks? They need to organise first aid courses on those workplaces! Or I don't know how it works in USA but that's the way it would work in my country.

@@magicofshootingstar5825 in America a licensed medic can only release his patient to someone of equal or higher training. I graduated flight medic school. In all my life and death injuries I worked on I only released to someone who was equal and or had better medical equipment. Even when I loaded then on the copters I rode along. Assisted in treatment…even down to holding pressure on a wound so the flight medic can do something else. The hundreds watching are construction workers building a dam all stopped to watch me try and save this man’s life….I didn’t. One medic day shift …one medic nights they pay guys like us over a hundred k with my last bonus being 55k to really run into burning refineries or climb down cliffs a hundred feet to the guy that died in my story…I used an extension cord so scale the wall to reach him as quick as I could. It was the best but most damaging career I could have ever hoped for and yet suffered from. Appreciate the comments 🃏👍🏁🎭🍿🎯🍿🎯

What a scary situation! What a lovely woman, not even hesitating to put shoes and coat on but running over in her pjs to help! The fact that her training was just renewed was a blessing! I need to move to Idaho Fall! When she became emotional, I did too!

Amazing story! Way to go Janna! I think it’s incredibly beautiful that you kept this story so close to your heart & just humbly went back to being your superhero self, but I’m also really REALLY happy you got this opportunity to share your story! I bet it felt so good to talk about it as I imagine it was a very scary situation and one in which the magnitude of the whole thing can’t even be comprehended in the moment. Thank you for sharing with the world! ❤❤❤ I really hope your story inspires others to go out and get CPR certified!
PS-Janna, please please become a teacher!!! You have a gift to share and an amazing story to go with it!!! 🫶🏻
