Restaurant workers who went above & beyond for terminally ill mom are honored for Feel Good Friday

EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley in Idaho Falls and Pocatello are partnering to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
We recently received a message from a woman who wanted to recognize a cook and employee at an Idaho Falls restaurant. This is what it said:
My birthday was coming up and my kids asked me what I wanted. I have a terminal illness and so I said nothing. Then in my head pops key lime cheesecake. I wanted a piece of key lime cheesecake. They called everywhere and none to be found. My daughter decided to call North Hiway Cafe. The waitress said they had cheesecake but not that flavor. She decribed why she wanted it and the waitress relayed my sad tale to the cook. The waitress called my daughter back and said the cook will have the cheesecake ready for my birthday. I do not know who the baker is but the fact he went out of his way to make my birthday wish come true tells you volumes about him. The cheesecake is exquisite.
We found out who the employee and cook were so we decided to surprise them for Feel Good Friday. Watch the video in the player above!

They need to put that Key Lime Cheesecake on their menu! Sounds like they will be getting lots more requests

It would probably be pretty expensive, AFAIK key limes only grow in Florida and don't get exported much.
That Cafe / Restaurant must be doing something right to stay in business for so long.
The cook is awesome, he knows what he did was right, and wants no reward for it. Thank you for your humble service to humanity
A shy cook, but what a great guy. He did it becuz it was a birthday, not knowing the whole story. Madonna, like Nate said, could of done what others that were called first did and said sorry we don't make that. But she didn't she cared. Thanx to The North Highway Cafe for allowing a sweet daughter to do the One thing her Mom wanted. Get the tissues. Thank you EIN & AShley Furniture as always for a heartwarming story.

What a special place with such kind, tenderhearted people. I would say that I hope their business increased beyond measure but it seems like they may already be as busy as they can handle. So I'll just ask that God bless them in the way that is best.

They ought to start serving it every once in a while, naming it after the terminally ill lady. "Mary's Key Lime Cheesecake", or whatever her first name is, would be cool!

Almost wish I lived in East Idaho so I could support this business and the many others Nate finds that go out of their way for complete strangers.

When I lived in Florida for college about 20 years ago Starbucks had a keylime cheesecake. It was fantastic, my only complaint was that it was too small. lol

Its nice the restaurant would make an effort for someone. I tried to have them cater my mother's 70th birthday fete, but when I called, the person who answered listened to my request to cater, said okay, and then hung up on me. I called back, asked about catering again, the person who answered said to hold and put the phone down. About two minutes later, after waiting for someone to come back, the phone was hung up. So I called another business to cater my mom's party. I won't spend any money at this restaurant anymore.
Sounds like a "person" problem, not the restuarant... 😕
