A 'guardian angel' at Gold's Gym who helped a man in a wheelchair gets a surprise

EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Idaho Falls and Pocatello are partnering to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
A few weeks ago we heard about a man named Eric. He suffered a stroke 20 years ago and has been in a wheelchair ever since. He spends time volunteering with Champ's Heart and every morning, you'll catch him working out at Gold Gym's in Ammon. He is determined to walk again.
He recently learned that he would no longer have enough money for his medicine so he would need to cancel his gym membership. He was heartbroken when he told Angie, the membership clerk, that he could no longer afford to pay $35 a month to use the gym.
Angie wouldn't hear of it and pulled out her credit card to cover Eric's membership fees. When the owners of Gold's Gym learned about it, they decided to cover the costs so Eric could continue working out.
We decided to honor Angie - and Eric - for the good they do for the community. We surprised both of them! Check out the video in the player above.

It’s the little things folks. This woman paid his gym membership and that alone was life changing for this man. Absolutely amazing.
OMG! This is so moving. Typical East Idaho News. Please someone put his name in to Secret Santa. Eric is so inspiring. His determination is incredible. And Angie, her kindness is something else. And the owner of the gym - you rock for getting the weighted vest for Eric and giving him the membership. And Nate of course, you really know how to reach people. I agree, he needs to be on the Secret Santa list. Maybe they can see about helping him get to the Institute of Neurological Recovery in Florida. There are lots of videos on youtube of stroke patients getting immediate relief from stroke symptoms with their injections. He's such a deserving man.
Nice to know there are kindhearted people like Angie, Golds Gym owners and people with determination like Eric.
His ability to talk is amazing, you can tell hes worked real hard on it, so proud of this man!
If he's kept talking all these years, I think one day he'll be able to walk. It may not be a marathon run, but he'll stand and walk and hug his family.

Aww, I loved his big old smile and thumbs up and saying "awesome, she deserves it" when they told him they were going to surprise Angie with a gift card. This truly is a Feel Good Friday, surprising both of these deserving people!!! Thanks for sharing & I wish them both blessings with all of their future endeavors!
EDIT: You could tell Angie is just lovely, and the manager is even a gem, too, buying him the weighted vest. And Gold's Gym as well for not taking anyone's money and still letting this man work out. He is dedicated, and I am sure, with all of his hard work, he will be able to walk again. And I hope to see a followup on that when he does.

I too hope you’re back in a couple of months for Secret Santa, this man deserves it. My eyes are full of tears, as an able bodied 28 year old with a gym membership I never use, this just guts me to realize how much I’m taking for granted every day

I live in Florida and I do all I can to keep up with EIN. Just this week I started watching some of the old Secret Santa videos again. I wanted to say thank you for these inspiring videos. I've started watching last Christmas and now starting to watch the new episodes.
