Fantastic looking irons from Callaway. I've been playing the Callaway Apex CF16 irons for the past 4 years and they are by far the best feeling forged irons I've ever played. I like the idea of having a mixed set with the DCB long irons the standard middle and the pro short irons. I'm a massive fan of the Callaway Apex line because of the looks, feel and especially the performance.

One of my favourite parts of this video, when you put all three heads next to each other to compare top lines and profiles. No one else shows you the comparison, so you have no reference. Keep up the grind! Love your work!

Had the Apex Pro for 5 months and they are great. Tried the whole range in the shop and these felt the best. I was off 10 and now down to 8 now as I have been playing more and think these clubs have helped. I like the thinner profile as well.
My point is you don’t have to be single figures to use these.
Several friends now have them after playing rounds with mine which indicates how nice they are.

Love the look of the DCB and the performance seems great and just up my alley. But the price is 50% more than the Mavrik. Andy, care to give me any thoughts on why the DCB is worth the extra $$$? On a side note, tried the Callaway Iron Selector and it kept coming up with the DCB even though last year I was continually getting the Mavrik coming up. I even tried changing all my input #'s, etc. on the iron selector ....still DCB, Apex 21 and B21. Maybe they are phasing out the Mavrik for the DCB.

Interesting but one thing I've never seen by golf TH-camrs is any review of Yonex clubs. A few years ago I went to try out woods & irons with a view to replacing my old clubs. I tried various makes & coincidently opted for a Yonex Ezone driver & Yonex irons. The shaft of the driver has worn due to the padding on the metal bag dividers wearing out so I looked for a new driver. I searched through Ebay looking for a 2nd hand or new replacement for approx £200. I found a Yonex Ezone Series 3 with a 10. degree loft & a seniors shaft (I'm very nearly 75 years old) at ONLY £160.00 with the seller having excellent feedback. I bought it. When it arrived I was delighted (one of your favourite words) with it. I've never worried about the looks of a club, just its performance but the driver was superb to look at at address. When looking down there was a black head but a superb dark, bright blue covering to most of it. What I'm at last getting to is I've never seen any review or any Yonex club by any TH-camr golfers. Any chance of you doing so?

The DCB is on my short list for when I go into my fitting over the winter. Chunky does not concern me at all. In fact the Cleveland Halos are on my list to test as well and it does not get any chunkier than that. What does concern me with the DCB is the price point. But I might just go PW to 7 iron and move to hybrids after that so could be fine. Very helpful review and thoughts - thanks for the perspective.

To make a long story short the Apex irons just won I didn’t want to like them but the were the best for me. They looked great in the playing position, shorter blade length than the Mizuno irons.

I'm glad you admitted it! I'm the same way! I have to like the look of the club first, then the feel and sound, then the performance. All 3 of those are a must for me. I still use Mizuno MP25s. I got better numbers with the Taylormade M2 irons, but I didn't like the look much and the feel and sound were awful. I will stick with the mp25s until something betters them in all 3 areas. It starts with the look though.

Callaway’s answer to jpx line they added the DCB as there hot metal, pick what look you like get fitted and you can’t go wrong with either, they call the DCB forged but how do you forge 5 piece head??

I bought a set of the DCBs and I love the way they look and I love the way they feel. Do I love the consistency? No, not at all. I am not a long hitter. but my distances are so consistent that I am a good iron player. But that's with my X14 irons. So I've been trying to find an iron I like better than the X14. The DCBs are longer. But one shot they are two clubs longer and the next only one longer than my X14s that is. How do I get close to a pin like this? They go straight which is good. But I hate having to hope it goes the right distance. I have read on forum the Apex 19 had this problem. If the greatest woman player(Annika S.) used X14s, why can't Callaway make an iron like that club? I'm going to keep the DCBs because after playing a few rounds with them, I pull out my X14s and I hit them better than ever. Lol I think that is because of the smaller face. I'm wondering if I should have bought the regular Apex irons. Oh well.

The only point I would make is distance maybe the same but thats where it ends, I would fancy my chances with a DCB 4i but the Pro not so sure and there lies the difference which has nothing to do with loft

@@TheAverageGolfer Fair call, and I dont doubt the DCB are easier to hit and more foregiving off centre, just suspect many buy sticks on length off the tee. As someone who has played golf probably the same amount of time as you, I never remember in my youth that a 4 or 5 iron was deemed hard to hit, we have all been conditioned to believe that anything past a 6 iron is black magic. I happily played Ping ZIng 2's with 1iron through PW and a driver for a decade (I swapped between 1 iron and 3 wood on accasion). I don't remember 1's and 2's being that hard to hit but then I prefer irons. The battle for Callaway and others are that all these products are now really good from everyone. So i agree aesthetics and the story behind them matters, purchases are more emotional than ever.

The way I became a pro who is now very loyal to Callaway is I interesting. I always played with Macgregor. My reason was if it was good enough for Jack then it was fine for me. I live in eastern North Carolina and am close to a lot of Marines. In the early 2000’s I was giving a lesson to a marine corps captain. I could not help notice his new Hogan edge clubs. I knew that Callaway had bought out hogan a few years previous. When I asked him about the new clubs he told me that the week before as he had returned from Iraq there was a 18 wheeler at the bottom of the the ramp giving a new set of clubs to every Marine who left the plane. My patriotic juices clicked in quickly. I went home and called the Callaway rep and told him that Callaway had just bought a loyal teaching professional. I hope all the Marines who play golf will take this to heart. I WILL ALWAYS PLAY WITH CALLAWAY. GO MARINES FROM AN OLD NAVY MAN.

Classy review of a classy range of Irons👍
It's difficult to find any negatives with any of the Clubs, but if I was APEX Pro sort of guy (which I'm not) you might want slightly less Branding on show on the back of the clubs. "Callaway", "APEX", "Pro" and "tungsten" was possibly too much branding. Buts that's being super picky.
PS It's nice to see some down the line shots making an appearance👍

Really high quality vid - many thanks. Playing off 12 and looking for a new set that is more workable for approach shots and more forgiveness in the longer irons. How about Pro for 8I-PW, Standard for 6I and 7I and DCB for 4I and 5I? (with lofts slightly adjusted to make sure there isn't too big a gap between sets?)
Any thoughts on the shaft options would be much appreciated as well. Keep up the great work!
