That’s such a bummer that you didn’t place. I will say your cosplay is incredible and I haven’t done a cosplay in years, but yours makes me want to start cosplaying again.
I think the problem was that this costume is cripple. whatever how nice it is, it doesn't move. it makes me feel that this creature has been shot in the woods meanwhile a hunting, and it is crawling for survive, but it isn't sure that it want to survive at all. nowadays there are 3D printers, millions of gears and mechanisms, it wouldn't be impossible to make those legs work. in fact; to find solution to this problem, that is require creativity, just as the rest of the costume. nothing offense, its just my opinion.
@@Fulminitro lol. Gotcha. I just have had other comments that get popular where people respond to me and are clearly talking to the creator so I never know anymore.
It's crazy that this didn't place, it's really cool. I love your attitude about it, some years there are just so many awesome entries. Thank you for sharing your progress, it's fascinating and I learned a bunch!
While it's an impressive built it's not crazy she didn't place. As she stated at the beginning it's the small details that make it or break it. While the cosplay looks gorgeous the judges go for clean work. The missing Gems has cost her defenitly points. And I've spotted a lot of small details that would cost points too. The chainlinks on the staff seamed to bulk together instead of falling straight. There were sloppy cuts, I spotted glueseams, gaps between armor pieces were I believe shouldn't be gaps... (foam clay should help there) they consider if the sewing is clean. Those are all very small things but they add up if a cosplay is judged against others. But it's a beautyfull cosplay that might have won at an other contest.
As someone who was not involved with making the outfit, I can give an adjective opinion. The finished product is excellent. It is far beyond the abilities of most people & you should be proud. I build miniature models & I am impressed by your life-sized model. I enjoyed watching your 3 part series & I have a suggestion for you. Since you don't want to wear it again, you could use it as decoration with a mannequin in place of you.
I agree with you 100%. Especially since she could've put her cosplay in pretty much any of the categories, maybe not the sewing one since there was more other elements from the other categories, but I truly believe that she would've won if that one person didn't show. She spent so much time on it, and was suffering from burnout during some of the making process and endured that to make such an amazing cosplay.
@@simrell Near the end you said you don't think you'd ever be able to wear the cosplay, but there are a lot of other cosplay conventions and anime and video conventions out there. I can understand the LED frustration, especially seeing how you put it together. I've got a few suggestions if you do DIY LEDs in the future that will make it a LOT easier. First, those RGB "fairy lights" you buy online are often WS2812b LEDs, so you can buy a cheap (and flexible!) string of LEDs and use your own controller. They may be a bit more expensive than the SMD tape you used here, but the added flexibility more than makes up for the cost. You can coil and wrap and twist them any way you need to and pack them as densely as you like. Second, I recommend the Seeeduino Xiao. It's a SUPER tiny and SUPER cheap (like $5 cheap) Arduino with built-in USB-C. The size and price means you can buy a bunch of them and put the controller right next to the LEDs. Like one controller per hoof, for example. The USB-C means you can power it directly from a USB phone charger battery and only have one wire (a USB cable) to run from your battery to your lights. It means fewer solder joints, fewer wires, and much simpler design - which all adds up to easier development and fewer bugs to work out. I also recommend keeping your LEDs at least an inch off your diffuser, or aim the LEDs *away* from the diffuser at a matte white reflector to get smoother tones that don't have the individual LEDs shining through. All in all this was a LOT of work and you did an amazing job! Thanks for sharing it with us weirdos on the internet! I'm an electronics / programming nerd, so if you want some guidance on future LED projects feel free to reach out to me, I'd be happy to help!
I entered the C2E2 Cosplay contest as my first high-level competition and my friends were all saying how great my cosplay was and how it was going to win. I laughed because I know the amount of construction that goes into each one. I just wanted to showcase this particular cosplay because of the complexity of the sew and accessories. My daughter's friend won the entire contest! Yay! I loved being backstage and seeing all of the costumes up close. In the end, I did get mentioned as a judge's favorite which was encouraging. If I do another cosplay that has a competition level of construction, I may enter another one.
One of my daughters wants a hind cosplay and your build has been the most educational as to the full construction of the body that I have seen. I think I may have enough information about this to feel confident enough to start.
This cosplay turned amazing!! Likely your difficulties with dye happened because your fabrics are synthetic, but not all your dyes were designed for synthetic fabrics. I noticed both rit dye and rit dyemore dyes, which is why the purple color took more than the black. (Stick with the dyemore versions!)

I love your creative thinking processes. When I was in high school in the 70s, my sewing teacher gave me a D- which was barely a passing grade. 😬 However, I went on to be a professional seamstress, lol, in a very exclusive boutique in Montecito California for years. I’ve been a seamstress, my whole entire life doing alterations and owning my own alterations business. The reason my teacher gave me a D- was because my brain could not sew the way she wanted me to. Your brain thinks like my brain. It’s creative and has such a unique thinking process. It has been a blast to watch this video because it reminds me of when I was your age. Thank you for posting this. It’s been so much fun to watch you create this amazing Cosplay creature. 😀😀😀😀😀😀. Thank you!!! ❤

Hi Katie☀️ I really enjoyed this series. I especially enjoy the storytelling style of just following you along your procress. I find your voiceovers very calming and infomative. I find you have a very good balance in giving just enough information about the process without beeing repetitive. As someone who doesnt cosplay, it kind of lets me expirience it along with you. Looking forward to more of your videos All the best to you💛

I'm building what amounts to a centaur of my own, using your design for the body and skeleton (though mine is way too heavy to make walking legs, which was a bummer). It's been really useful for a beginner cosplayer, your journey through this thing helped me so much!!
PIZZA JOHN HOODIE YESSSSSSS your Lilia is STUNNING. truly beautiful! you worked so hard and it paid off in the final product extremely well, regardless of the outcome of the contest
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!! You have nothing to feel bad about this was an amazing Cos-Play. You Will Place next time as you have amazing talent and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next.
💙🇺🇲 Man you conquered the Centaur girl regardless of how you placed or didn't place, you still came out a winner with all your efforts and patients to accomplish what I deem a very complicated task for one person to do. So many different skill sets you showed us and that "can do" attitude of yours was amazing. 💓💓💓💓😊 I can only imagine all the young minds and older ones too for that matter, that you have inspired to take a chance at trying new things they once did'nt think they could really finish or for those ideas they had and thought never to try but instead now with just this one video you have inspired them to give it a go. It's those people out there that have you to thank for that inspiration to get up and try what they never imagined could be. Keep up the good work and keep putting out your most excellent videos, thanx!! 😊 💜🙏☮🙏💜 😁
Im really glad you at least posted your prosses on here. because its vital information that other cosplayers can use when learning themselves. you're inspirational
I am older and have never seen anything like this before as I never got into cosplay, but I must say some of the costumes and yours as well are wonderful and quite intriguing. So much work. I think you are wonderful and keep up the great work.
G'day to you, I just had to say Brilliant, well done you, it blew me away, you are an Artist and Craft Person, from a 73 year old who likes jobs well done, from Perth Western Australia!
love the costume you did. i would not make another costume like yours. it’s amazing how you worked hard on this, love every detail on her. definitely the best cosplay costume ever made by you.
Honestly...this is truly amazing. sure I have seen many cosplays before but I was so filled with awe looking at your work. finished and during the process. I am a new subscriber of yours and I won't lie..I have tried cosplays for halloween before. sadly throughout the years when my grandmother said I had to make my costumes, she kinda brought down my creativity because she didn't want to spend fucking money on it. even now whenever I wanted to make something close to what I wanted to cosplay as, she would just shoot me down and say its a waste of time and say I'm only going to wear it once. that shit pissed me off! even kinda ruined my spirits for halloween this year. saying oh I shouldn't cosplay, I'm an adult not a child anymore. thankfully I discovered my other grandmother sews and makes costumes for my cousins and even for my uncle and dad when they were younger. I'm going to try to put my full effort in making a cosplay, a true one that I'll love. it's a cosplay of my oc for my hero academia for a mha convention. this time, I'm going all the way in and discovering another passion I wanted to try aside from my digital art, I liked sewing though it was tricky since I'm still a beginner, my teacher also lowered my confidence. thank you for showing me that it is possible to learn from mistakes and grow to be a better cosplayer and designer. even from defeats of not winning or even getting accepted, it feels the same when somebody shoots you down. so once again thanks for helping me boost my confidence!
Im so glad you documented this and cannot believe all the hard work you did.. i dont know you or ow you got into my recommended, but i'm so glad you did! subscribed! super proud and inspired
Holy moly. Your Lillia just looks so great! What a bummer to not being able to show her off on stage. Don’t be so down on yourself, you did amazing job. As a prop builder myself, I can totally understand how hard it is to make something like this but what you did I’ve never seen anyone else do. So you should be very proud of that 👍.
I just started checking out your content after it was recommended to me. This costume was amazing and you should be SO proud. I liked your message of "it doesn't always matter how much work you put into something, but also who else shows up and what they did." I always try to craft things that are better than what **I** did last time so I can keep getting better. This cosplay was amazing and you should be super proud!!
I have no idea how I landed on your content but Wowwww!!!... What an inspiration you are. Your drive, ambition and talent is amazing!. You are humble yet you are a superstar.
i realize this vid is almost a year old, BUT... :P consider making yourself a cast of your head and body :D it will save you so much time in wrapping tape and seran everywhere :D the time and cost of making the casts will deffo cover them selves in time ! AWESOME cosplay !!

I loved your video! I'm actually in the process of making my first cosplay ever. I'm a little overwhelmed and I took a pause for a month to see if I really wanted to continue this massive pile of stress that my future self will have to deal with. Believe it or not, I've done some of the same things you're doing; such as, using the cling wrap duct-tape "measuring" method, haha! I don't have a ton of materials to work with, and my experience is kind of non-existent. I guess I won't know until I dive into the depths of the Ever Crafting Vortex. I also want to say I believe in you, and the struggle is worth it. And thank you ^-^
This was such a fun series to watch! Really loved seeing it all come together and how much of the process was just trying things out as you went. It's tragic that you didn't get picked as a finalist, but I'm glad that you chose to share the journey regardless! Thank you!
You are an artist liked the cosplay It does not matter the you didn´t place what is important is that you made the cosplay and it is amazing keep the good cosplay flowing!!!!!
I think that you did an amazing job. I’m a new subscriber. I’m looking forward to watching your videos. I love watching people who design cosplay characters and original cosplay characters. I was hoping to see at the end you had placed in the finals. Looking forward to watching more of your wonderful work.
saying this might sound mean to some, but it's true and what i alway think about when entering a contest: no matter how good you are at your craft, there's always someone better than you. it's all objective. the judges will like one costume more than yours, but then others will like yours more than the ones the judges like. someone could be (objectively) the best cosplayer in the world and they'll still think there's better people than them out there. i also enter any contest/competition with ZERO expectations of winning because if you expect nothing and get nothing, there's no sadness. idk just my way of thinking abt competitions
by the way, this is not me saying your costume wasn't good. it was PHENOMENAL. but that's not any reason to get down on yourself because at the end of the day it's just friendly competition with essentially no prize (bc competition prizes usually suck unless they have HUGE sponsors lmao)
Enjoy the process of creating, it's not always about winning. It's more enjoyable to create if you don't always think of the end result as the main objective. :)
I really don't know why youtube suggest me this video, but damn you are fucking awesome. I love your personality, your video, the way you deal with the cosplay contest result, and last but not least I fucking love your cosplay. ❤
Well, after seeing your video and your cosplay custom, it looked really nice. I can not wait to see what you come up with next.
Don't know why this popped up in my feed but it was interesting to watch. You're very talented. Good luck with the next one.
I'm not into this cosplay thing and didn't even know how i came here, but wow, you did an amazing job and also have such a beatiful smile. Have fun and keep up with this. Best wishes from Germany ✌🏻
your video just pass my timeline and i couldn’t endure to let it pass by, i really enjoy watching each process and how come of each parts! i’m not even in a part of cosplay community, i always appreciate and am amazed in how they dressed. watching your video makes me even more wow and wow. thank you for such a great record!❤
I live in Anaheim where cosplay is a regular occurrence. I would say the fit and finish of your costume is spectacular and peerless. I am sure if you entered it again it would win.👍
This was something to watch, I truly felt like I was on this journey with you. These videos are my first experience with your channel and I am now subscribed for more!!
Thank you for your work, I really hope you'll find a good way to integrate the filming of the process without making too much work for yourself. Looking forward to more of your videos
All the best to you💛
That’s pretty amazing! You did such a fantastic job too. I’d never have the patience to get that extravagant. Much respect 🙌🏻
That was amazing! I can not believe your creation did not win 1st place! Ahhhfreakingmazing! You should be so proud of this!
I’m sorry you didn’t get in. But your cosplay is so amazing you should be so proud! 😄👏🏻👏🏻
❤❤❤ because you asked us to comment if we found your video useful, here I am!
I can only imagine all the young minds and older ones too for that matter, that you have inspired to take a chance at trying new things they once did'nt think they could really finish or for those ideas they had and thought never to try but instead now with just this one video you have inspired them to give it a go.
I don't know how your channel is huge right now, amazing stuff
Holy moly. Your Lillia just looks so great! What a bummer to not being able to show her off on stage.
But I got recommended your video, was instantly hooked and really want to do some cosplay crafting now as well :D
Great videos and documentation you made there, I really liked the music you picked, as well as being so relatable throughout C:
Sticking around to find out more of what you will be up to.
I'm not really interested in cosplay, but the effort you put in, and the accuracy achieved, is absolutely admirable.
Don’t be so down on yourself, you did amazing job. As a prop builder myself, I can totally understand how hard it is to make something like this but what you did I’ve never seen anyone else do. So you should be very proud of that 👍.
Your level of creativity and crafting is out of this galaxy girl. Big hug from Argentina!
I just started checking out your content after it was recommended to me.
This costume was amazing and you should be SO proud.
I liked your message of "it doesn't always matter how much work you put into something, but also who else shows up and what they did."
I always try to craft things that are better than what **I** did last time so I can keep getting better. This cosplay was amazing and you should be super proud!!
Well done. Be absolutely proud! A lot of these techniques are going to be helpful with ideas~!
it looks really good!
I'm glad you pushed through the burn out!
I think you did an incredible job! The patience, determination, and passion you showed are to be commended. What an extraordinary piece of work.
You and your cosplays are truely amazing. Never doubt that in a TH-cam cosplay fan pick you're gold❤
this series has been awesome to watch during my work days. simrell ur killin it and can't wait to see more!!!!
This was... amazing to watch, holy shit! Seriously, this build look SO COOL!!!!!!!
I would’ve bet my LIFE on you winning that’s INSANE
I have no idea how I landed on your content but Wowwww!!!... What an inspiration you are. Your drive, ambition and talent is amazing!. You are humble yet you are a superstar.
i realize this vid is almost a year old, BUT... :P consider making yourself a cast of your head and body :D it will save you so much time in wrapping tape and seran everywhere :D the time and cost of making the casts will deffo cover them selves in time !
AWESOME cosplay !!
Awesome cosplay, and excellent honest presentation style, with the perfect touch of goofiness! Looking forward to the next videos.
I'm just shocked you have less thank 10k subs. You put so much effort into this costume and the video, it's really great. I'm sure it's good to see your efforts being rewarded. This was so cool and well done.
Ah, yes. "This stuff is toxic so don't breathe it in" *proceeds to use resin without gloves*
LOL I KNOW I FORGOT 😭 realized after watching the footage back, but i def wear gloves now.
I don't normally watch video's like this, as i like to geek a bit, but this is usually too much, so started watching whilst i was just eating food. But i found myself watching this until the end, and fair play, that looked fkn awesome \m/ well done
I love all the work you did with that ad though you didn't place, your costume stands out from the others...it looks amazing!
I would have voted for you to win for sure! Looked FABULOUS!
I dabble in many mediums but sewing hates me!! You are soooo talented. Im in awe!!
This was a great video!! Also love the Taiga figs up there on the wall. Thumbs up for Toradora! :D
The costume was bad ass !!! I cosplay too and I'm working on a Link Sword and Shield and i hate is already xD
I love Yasha so I'm looking forward to seeing her
i really love your cosplay. I love sooo much things about it and i think it really looks incredibly cool!
im very sad you didnt place but you're completely right, it's more about what others did than what you did!
Wow... you really killed this build!!
I am so hype for the Yasha cosplay. Ill sub just for that. With how good the Lilia Cosplay was, id love to see what you do with Yasha!
This turned out so neat!
This is so incredible- oh my goodness
I loved your video! I'm actually in the process of making my first cosplay ever. I'm a little overwhelmed and I took a pause for a month to see if I really wanted to continue this massive pile of stress that my future self will have to deal with. Believe it or not, I've done some of the same things you're doing; such as, using the cling wrap duct-tape "measuring" method, haha! I don't have a ton of materials to work with, and my experience is kind of non-existent. I guess I won't know until I dive into the depths of the Ever Crafting Vortex.
I also want to say I believe in you, and the struggle is worth it. And thank you ^-^
Phenomenal job! You are very talented and creative.
Your design, sculpt, and creativity are epic awesome 🔥💯💥
Wow, brilliant! I'm impressed.
I think that you did an amazing job. I’m a new subscriber. I’m looking forward to watching your videos. I love watching people who design cosplay characters and original cosplay characters. I was hoping to see at the end you had placed in the finals.
Looking forward to watching more of your wonderful work.
You didn’t place? That is just not right! Your work is AWESOME!
THAT'S ART !!!!! HOW NICEEEE
saying this might sound mean to some, but it's true and what i alway think about when entering a contest: no matter how good you are at your craft, there's always someone better than you. it's all objective. the judges will like one costume more than yours, but then others will like yours more than the ones the judges like. someone could be (objectively) the best cosplayer in the world and they'll still think there's better people than them out there.
i also enter any contest/competition with ZERO expectations of winning because if you expect nothing and get nothing, there's no sadness.
idk just my way of thinking abt competitions
by the way, this is not me saying your costume wasn't good. it was PHENOMENAL. but that's not any reason to get down on yourself because at the end of the day it's just friendly competition with essentially no prize (bc competition prizes usually suck unless they have HUGE sponsors lmao)
Wow, you're along the line of these custom cars manufactures, hard work.
Super job !! just wow !! Keep going.
Enjoy the process of creating, it's not always about winning. It's more enjoyable to create if you don't always think of the end result as the main objective. :)
You are Amazing! As someone who doesn't know you from Eve... I am so proud of you! Great video series! Thank you!
I really don't know why youtube suggest me this video, but damn you are fucking awesome. I love your personality, your video, the way you deal with the cosplay contest result, and last but not least I fucking love your cosplay. It's incredible and amazing and it's clear to me how much love you put into it.
I'm subscribing to your channel now and I hope to see a lot more about your projects ;)
kisses from Brazil o/
I was waiting for that video!! Excited 🕺
Brilliant costume lot of work I was most impressed with the quality and work up put in hope your next one will win for you best of luck 😊
So talented. So awesome. Magic!
I spent 7 years building an airplane. Like your cosplay I pretty much wear my airplane. Unlike your costume I can continue to fly my plane. Your construction techniques are second to none. Well done and keep going!
Very cool and creative, great job 👍
Well done, in the end you learned a lot and inspired many others.
Your work is incredible. I’ve been sewing for fifty years ( yes, I’m old) and made a few costumes but never to this extent. Fur is a pain in the ass.
I will never achieve such level of cosplay. But I very much enjoyed your process series 😍😍 (you're the winner for me 😉)
Ninja tittle face. Far more talent than I. Keep at it. Interesting content.
As a completely outsider, I don't know how much time you guys spent building up to working on perfecting these things... but the time tells, they are truely amazing and stunning how you managed to make these things happen
Literally subbed in the first 30 seconds. You won lol
I cannot wait to see upcoming cosplay videos! You did a beautiful job, even if she ended up being uncomfortable to wear.
I don't understand. I've seen a lotta cosplay and this is crazy cool. Frankly better than the winners . Sorry it turned out tso bad for you but I think you AND your creation are FAN-friggin-tastic!
Looks so good, amazing
This cosplay is awesome!
That's all right, I still love your costume. It was awesome, a center part of the Greek mythological stories. A centaur still look beautiful in it
