3D printing can be a powerful tool for cosplay, but can be a daunting process to start. In this video, I break down my process from sketching modeling, and 3d printing my competitive cosplay prop!
Here are some helpful tutorials that go more in-depth on techniques I use in the video

4:52 as an 3D-Design student i strongly encourage this! 3D Modelling is a skill that sooner or later will be quite helpful especially for propdesign.
3 Post in a single month Yayy. You are soo underrated
FYI, if you haven’t figured this out already, soaking your pieces in warm water really helps when removing the supports and helps stop those little dimples.
Love this 💜
Awesome first step! A few things that will help you out in the future. 1) Prime with a lighter color. I can still see the black through the blue. In the reference it looks like a much lighter color than you got. 2) use a filler primer. They help smooth out imperfections. 3) Prime multiple times! After your first prime you should go back and sand any spots that are uneven. Keep priming and sanding until the piece is super smooth! 4) use milliput/Apoxie Sculpt to fill gaps caused by shrinkage! From what I understand it is stronger than just a clay, and will have a similar material to your prints. It's also way easier to fill in those gaps smoothly than to try and use baking soda haphazardly.
I really hope this helps! I think you're already super incredible but who doesn't want to get even better!
Love to see your cosplay "comeback"❤ The Staff looks great
Another video so soon ?? You're really cooking !! I loved to see all the process in blender, its really amazing how you manage to make everything fun and entertaining :D
Also amazing skills with your ocarina ⭐️
really lovely job on the staff! i will say though that while I get not wanting to carry something heavy around, i also feel like that makes it feel more "real" if that makes sense - like it actually has some weight to it. the balance is a bit rough, though - if it's too much, you could see about adding a counterweight by modifying the other end? although that would also make it even heavier... much to consider
I don't have a 3D Printer but I am going to need to learn how to 3D print if I'm ever going to learn to design Animatronics for work! At least that's my goal!
As for the Cosplays? I don't have a Dremel (or however you spell it) so the "Quick and Easy" way to Cosplay is out of my hand! Plus, I don't have a heat gun and I live in a small apartment so good luck trying to find any room for all the ventilation you will need to sand everything! So, me? Good old Cardboard! It might not last long but it will do its trick!
What do you do for work that you get to design animatronics :0
@@GabeGriffin46 I work at Home Depot and I'm currently going to school for my Graphic Design Degree. The Animatronics that you see when you go on our Website have all been home-designed! That's what I want to do when I get my degree!
So, off to learn how to use, Blender!
Your filament printer needs more tests done on it. I suggest joining the discord of whatever printer it is and looking at what tests they recommend doing to get good layer lines etc etc
Thank you for going through with your promise. Not many TH-camrs do. ❤❤❤
For the ball inside the star you could use fishing thread like clear and put it on the four ends so the ball would be in the middle also there could be a slight movement if you just put one sting and the other on the bottom. It's hard to explain but maybe you will understand. 😅😅😅😅👍👍👍👍
Jess, I love your vids. I saw you did some Hermitcraft related things, I'd like to suggest something from empires such as the custom models for some of their tools and things to craft not just 3d print as it would be a neat one to see for a cosplay prop. I was thinking something along the lines of mythicalsausages staff or something like that. I am also a fellow Jess.
now you can learn to electroform things so you can electroplate your part for durability, weight, and to give it that sturdy feel.
its even easier for you because you have an sls printer so you dont have to worry about layer lines as much
Clear fishing line would have also worked well for this! And it would be able to move a little as you do as if it's actually floating
Youneed a bambulab printer. Plug and play. And its aaaallll in the settings to have no layer lines
Damn, you're getting these out so fast! Great work 😮
any update on the cosplay?
loving the scar build music
Haha, I was literally typing a comment about flexible build plates as you said that. @15:00
Love the final result!
I think I'm gonna have to also do this cosplay, Rosa is best girl and that outfit is awesome
You can use a heat gun to remove the supports, it will be easier
Im curious where you have the resin printer and are venting it out to to be safe
Huh I always thought of blender as a 3d animation tool. I always just used tinkercad but this looks really powerful. And maybe less scary than fusion… gotta try that some day, thanks for the inspiration!
I love how Jess is using her 3D printer more!!!!!
OMG! OMG! I instantly thought about Sailor Moon's Eternal Tiare! I'd love if you'd tackle that project 🤩
Yeah! Lets go, 3 uploads in a month??
10/10 jess less video
LOL the resetti music omg 💀 This is my first video of yours, just wanted to say your mental health / work life balance always comes first!!! 💖
Haha, I found this video because the comp announcement video juat popped up in my sidebar and I went looking for updates. :'D
love this
got a double take when i saw the notification
3 in a month? whoa
:O
it's so pretty!
Very cool 😀
Whoop Whoop new video!
I would like to create 3d models of the different digivices from different Digimon series that act as hardshell covers for Vpets of all types so they have more protection from fall damage and look like anime/manga accurate devices at the same time. Also Wana be a cosplay prop blacksmith 😅 dreams
you very well might be the absolute most adorable person. I enjoy your videos so much!
Well at least it could be a pretty good weapon for when you have to literally fight off your competition
A 3D printer is something I'd like to research more in a year or so.
Would have been really cool tonmake the ball float with magnets
Only thirty-six WHAT!!!😧🤯
for some reason it reminds me of Lux staff
Second
Only 6 comments? Let's fix that
