Dear Mr. Duke, My son is an aspiring voice actor and I've been making some lame cospray plops for him. I want to make really good plops that are not lame, so I started watching you because you work with materials other than FOAM. This video is one of my favorites. My life is full of painful dookie right now, and you are helping me to keep from losing my mind. Thank you so much for everything you do.
Finally somebody made A bow from fiction into reality I've seen daggers, swords, axes, knives, hammers, maces. We've got hacksmith with like the batterangs and the grapple hooks and flame throwers and bat signal. But in terms of like making bows and making them as close to the source material as possible while still being a functional bow the closest I've seen is man and arms reforged making the steel bow from hunger games. Which is really just a basic bow made out of steel. This is the 1st time I've seen This is the 1st time I've seen Somebody take a fancy bow from a video game or movie or something and make it work and make it real. This is bad ass.
The skills needed for making bladed weapons, grappling hooks and things like that can be developed as a side effect of being a machinist or welder, but I can't really think of any modern trade skills that run parallel to bow making. So basically the only people making bows are people who do it professionally, and at that level I don't expect there's much demand for functional prop replicas and fantasy bows. Pretty interesting i think, and it makes Bobby's mod all the more unique and cool.
@@martyjehovah Fair assessment but atleast for me the people I watch make bladed weapons most of the time aren't just machinists they are blacksmiths amd they made the steel bow from hunger games. Being a bowyer is still a trade and wood working is absolutely a trade that parallels being a bowyer. Plenty of people make bows recreationally like Krammer Ammons who has a relatively new youtube series called "Will it Bow". Where he makes bows out of random crap to see if it will work. And Hacksmith who are machinists built their channel around making functional prop level stuff that they can't or won't sell. They purely build it for fun and views. So there is absolutely a hole in the market for that style of content. And I would subscribe to that channel in a heartbeat especially if they were a fletcher and make trick arrows to match the functions of the in media arrows.
@@martyjehovah i didn’t even think of that, swords don’t really need working mechanics or even to be made properly, since swords aren’t really used today compared to bows.
i like how he couldve just been lazy and made a sword or a polearm, but he chose a COMPLICATED AS HECK bow, not only for the design, but if anything went wrong, the bow would completely snap. RESPECC
@@HansPeter-iv9ck hahaha, but i just feel like, a lot of people could temporarily sharpen teh blade if it goes blunt just for the showcase, but the bow if it snapped once, it would probably be the end of the build. I mean they could repair it, jsut that the consequences would be worse than a sword i just feel like. I could be completely wrong
@@p41n8 Watch the YT channel of Man at Arms they builded alot of Anime/Game Swords by now. The thing with Swords/Polearms is that you cant make them a functional weapon just by putting a nice "skin" on top of the real weapon. You actually need to forge them otherwise you wont only put the weapon in danger of breaking but also yourself and people around you. If you swing a huge sword around for example and mid swing something flys of into someones head....well....not optimal.Or you hit something and then the blade snaps off flying around hitting someone. The worst that happens with a Bow is that it snaps and someone gets a HUGE slap in the face. So yeah going with a Blade/Polearm would have been the more expensive and complicated way not the Bow. Keep in mind he wanted it to be a "FUNCTIONAL WEAPON" You can put a skin over a bow but not over a Blade.
@@HansPeter-iv9ck most civilized conversation i have ever seen in the comments of a youtube video and not people screaming at each other over the dumbest stuff lol
Watch michaelcthulhu's channel. His work with real weapons like this is unmatched. I think that perhaps his work is a bit too real because making this stuff to scale and function will kill you along the way or at the end of your journey.

Artists: Draw extremely complicated and highly impractical design that looks good, and getting away with it because cartoon logic. Cosplayers: Bro, this is completely unfunctional, difficult to make with real world physics, and probably well out of most sane peoples time and budget... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
Okay this but fursuit makers- a character I want to make a fursuit for has a entire lantern on the back of his way way way too long tail and I’m just like 🧍♂️ but what if
A lot of it is functional and easy to make the only stipulation being the price tag associated with materials and the skilled labor required to shape them. Basically money can solve anything!
What did your dad say about the minor changes when you returned it? This reminds me of a story my dad used to tell about when my big sister was a toddler. He tried to impress her by doing a perfect tablecloth pull. He did his performance, then she looked at him deadpan and said, "Put it back." So much for being impressive.
Alright a few things 1. That is one *beautiful* bow, it looks like it came straight from the game and into reality 2. Holy heck I missed Bobby's videos, I understand why it took so long for this to come out but I seriously missed watching Bobby's special flavor of chaos 3. I can't believe you got Zefrank to do a voiceover for this, his commentary was just the cherry on top
My brother shared this with the statement, "This is such an absurdly high effort video." I'm halfway through watching and I can confirm this is a great POV.
This was hands down one of - if not THE - best weapon making videos I've watched. I love how it wasn't really serious and your cosplay of Ganyu is AMAZING!
The funny thing is I never notices how much detailes are in Genshin characters and weapons until I try to draw them. Like recently I tried to draw Raiden Shogun and the details in her Kimono were insane and some of them were so subtle that you wouldn't even notice them but still alot of care were given to them which is what I really love about the game designers.
I usually don't comment on TH-cam but as a regular genshin player and Bobby's subscriber for more than 4 years, it makes me really happy to see he is making thundering pulse. I can't help but keep smiling through the whole video. Truly amazing

@@Lilylad it's not a game you can pick up and play for a few hours because it's a gacha game at heart, but the world and its characters are well crafted, it has deep lore, and a very good combat system.
@@Lilylad no not really, I say it as a player myself, it’s pretty meh, the definition of medium not mid but medium, it’s a gacha so it f*** you over when it comes to getting what characters or weapons you want and after you get those, you need to grind a lot to get them to barebones fighting capabilities. then you need to work on team comps which downside, means more farming to get everyone barebones, upside is that you have a team therefore you have more hp and more form of attack and if they have different elements then that means they have power of “reaction” this essentially means that you get to do more damage in different ways even physical damage got in on the action, wanna do physical? Use cryo and electro to superconduct the enemies into having -30% physical resistance, wanna do big damage? Mix Pyro with anything except geo, wanna spread elements everywhere? Use anemo with everything EXCEPT GEO. don’t wanna do reaction damage? But still don’t wanna do physical damage? Wanna still be classified as elemental damage but still wanna be ungabunga? Then use geo, s*** reaction but best characters. Overall game is just too Grindy but after the grind and some barebones builds you’d get a fun result would it be worth it? Maybe, would spending money on the game make it more fun? Probably not, the grind in some way is the fun, like warframe, destiny and other looter and stuff games.
There's so much love put in this video All the edits, the people who helped do the voiceover and even a little song Keep up the good work it was really entertaining :)
Once I saw that thing completed, the only thing I could feel was an *OVERWHELMING* sense of terror that any part of it might snap like a twig if it touched anything at all.
Well the range test should have settled that sense of terror. He took into account the moment that would transfer to the cosmetic parts when he built it. A good craftsman.
I love it. I was brushing my teeth and looked confusingly at my phone, thinking, "Wait is this a Nile Red ad or is the video already done?" Then I realized I was still watching Bobby and started laughing.
7:50 "My plan ended up being too difficult to describe, so I wont." This is going to be my new way I address any questions my project manager has during my daily standup meetings.
As a Genshin player (and yes, I touch grass regularly, thank you for the kind question) this was an unexpected but definitely highly appreciated video! And the fact that you used ingame music and sounds AND cosplayed Ganyu just makes it so much more fun! Love your art!
I like how at one point in the carving time lapse you can see his pants getting covered by more and more sawdust until it completely turns brown and then miraculously becomes clean again.
Wow! I honestly hadn’t thought it possible to make a functional version of the Genshin bows… guess I have no excuse to not make an attempt on a cosplay-friendly version of the poles for myself, since that’s obviously much easier! Your bow is really really impressive work.
Any Genshin weapon can be made functional depending on how much compromise you're willing to make on the design. Most people won't spot the compromises without looking at the original side by side.
Guys, people, humans do understand that this could all have been 3D printed. But this man is so talented and is blessed, with I think 3D thoughts, that he can literally make all these things himself. Bobby is a work of art.
Most importantly he has good tools to work with and plans how to use them effectively. People often underestimate just how much good/specialized tools can make crafting things easier and faster. Of course, you need to plan ahead properly to use them most effectively.
Omg that “I've been wasting more time being afraid of starting on them, than I would have if I messed up and remade them, so it ended up being pointless anyways” I really need it when I’m struggling so much with procrastinating
"I've been wasting more time being afraid of starting on them than I would have if I had messed up and remade them" is honestly really something I need to hear for my own fear of doing art nowadays.
Damn... People in charge of Genshin do know a lot about who to sponsor... I'm in awe, this was amazing. The bow is a masterpiece. Loved to see it slowly come to reality
yup, thank goodness the sponsor is pretty good. I remember a PC game used to pay a craft youtuber to make a video playing the game. It was aged ago but it wasn't great and I believe the video is deleted not long after being payed
I can’t imagine how you got this sorted in your head to the point you could make the pieces. This is really impressive and mind blowing how you figured it all out.
@@AnthroGearhead it's a meme in the Genshin impact community to call Ganyu Cocogoat. It stems from a quest where you need to find a mythical beast called the Cocogoat only to discover it doesn't exist so people started using that name to refer to Ganyu since she looks like a goat
"then it will... not be done, but it will be much closer" was a very relatable statement. I also LOVE that you went to a range in the costume. Love your confidence.
8:49 I can't imagine how long it took to make this model only for an animation that lasts a few seconds. It really shows how much effort is put into these videos. Great work really.
It's also crazy how there are camera tricks thrown in that have Zach king level cuts, like with the sawdust song or when he taps the wood to remove the clamps. It's insane.
After seeing your dad, I understand where you get the randomness and just overall completely manic but also extremely calming energy that I love about your videos lol
The fact that Bobby always makes incredible pieces of art is editing skills are beyond amazing… Also for telling us how long it takes to make because people get stressed out thinking they need to make this in a few weeks. Your talent is completely amazing and very intimidating.
Slight improvement idea: Add motion sensing switch on the string and dimmer on the circuit so when you start to pull the string back it lights up, like you are gathering POWAH of the gods or what ever. Could be real nice effect.
I have absolutly no idea how i endet up here, but i love it. you, sir, are a gem. or a natural force. or just a maniac. i'll go with all three because i fell the same. may you keep this energy
In most cases it's illegal for cosplayers to make functional weapons and bring them to an anime convention for obvious reasons. It's amazing to see that someone can actually make it a reality on legal grounds. A dream come true indeed!
It's not illegal to make a bow, why would it be illegal to make a silly-looking one? It's the "and take it to conventions" part that would make it illegal, me thinks. And even then, I'm guessing that's a venue thing; you're allowed to carry weapons in Texas, except where it's specifically prohibited.
How can a human exist that is so artistic in humor, editing, wood work, material mastery, electrical prowess, and pre production design….this guy has maxed out every star path in Skyrim in real life!
He has a team of like 6 guys with industrial R&D skills to do everything, and puts what he wants us to see on camera. The 6 or so guys can be heard throughout the video in the form of their different accents. They all share the one body.
As someone who isn't an Archer but wants to because Link and Green Arrow make it look fun I can say I in fact was not at all Anxious because I don't know what a clamp is on a Bow
@@Geopard62 it's definitely worth it, to be honest it doesn't take too long to get into it (but ultimately depends on the clubs in your area). I'm coming up on my 4th or 5th year, 2nd or 3rd using a longbow (I used to shoot recurve). But just some advice, don't go buying equipment until you're sure that you enjoy archery, even if you're not too good at it, if you enjoy it, then great, sign up to a club and buy your gear, but until then, don't - stuff ain't cheap. 😅
I only came here to see the final product but got so entertained with the process, editing, personality, and overall content! Time to binge watch your awesome contents
Omg Bobby! You just keep getting better & better! You are SO amazing & talented. This bow really is a work of art. Thank you so much for making such amazing videos for us x

So, the thumbnail and title got me here...never been to this channel before. Then this dude starts with the wacky wood working with stuff flying everywhere and I can't help thinking, "Holy sh*t, who let this guy near power tools?!?!" I mean, seriously, a router will rip off a finger faster than your body's nerve conduction speed can tell your brain you've had a boo-boo. But then, strangely, it all started taking shape and actually...working. WTF? The chef's kiss, though, was the cosplay at an unsuspecting archery range to test if the bow would actually stay in one piece and fire arrows. As a lifelong archer and woodworker, I can honestly say I'm impressed. The detail, ingenuity, skill, and blatant disregard for sanity were all next level in this video. Well done, sir. Well done.
This is the most personality I've ever seen on a channel like this. Also love the casual zefrank cameo. Just the editing on the car footage was enough to earn a sub for me, the rest was just icing.
Just watched the whole progress. Bro the dedication holy. I also relate to the part where you don't know how you will do it in the beginning, but in the end, you'll figure it out. It's late to say this, but congratulations man. You deserve a rest. You did so much carving, driving, and testing, and combined with experience, knowledge, and some luck, you managed to finish everything, including the editing too. That's hard work. I just saw the Genshin thumbnail, I clicked but stayed for the content. I relate too, because I'm always the one being told to make video presentations at school, and the experience is like going through five stages of grief😭. It must have been painful, but what's important is the friendship you made along the way.
95 percent of people are accepting of other and generally kind. They might look at you funny or stare at things they aren't used to, but they will generally be respectful and kind. This is generally how people react no matter what it is. Same goes is you wear a shirt and tie to waffle house. People might take pictures and look at you funny, but they will still be nice. I don't think being in Texas or part of a shooting range makes you dangerous to people who are different. People are people. One of the most accepting communities out there is the shooting community. There are 120 million shooters out there. The 200 in the media doesn't represent the majority of them.

Much less that he’d be in a Ganyu cosplay. Something I really didn’t need to see…
@@BaDArxz He looks lovely in it.
I don't what is more impresive, the 5 months to make the bow or you going to the shooting range dressed as Ganyu. Love the video.
The hacksmith did make a bow. Specifically the Skyward Harp from Genshin Impact. Which is also where Thundering Pulse is from.
25:26
i like how he couldve just been lazy and made a sword or a polearm, but he chose a COMPLICATED AS HECK bow, not only for the design, but if anything went wrong, the bow would completely snap. RESPECC
Trust me.
There is ALOT that could go wrong building an Anime Sword/Polearm......if you can even lift the weapon. x,D
@@p41n8
Watch the YT channel of Man at Arms they builded alot of Anime/Game Swords by now.

@@Lilylad it's not a game you can pick up and play for a few hours because it's a gacha game at heart, but the world and its characters are well crafted, it has deep lore, and a very good combat system.
@@Lilylad no not really, I say it as a player myself, it’s pretty meh, the definition of medium not mid but medium, it’s a gacha so it f*** you over when it comes to getting what characters or weapons you want and after you get those, you need to grind a lot to get them to barebones fighting capabilities.
then you need to work on team comps which downside, means more farming to get everyone barebones, upside is that you have a team therefore you have more hp and more form of attack and if they have different elements then that means they have power of “reaction”
this essentially means that you get to do more damage in different ways even physical damage got in on the action, wanna do physical?
