There will never be a better late night host than Johnny Carson. Even when he was bombing, he made it funny and the acts that he helped get started are beyond number.
Dec. 26, 2024. I’ve been watching humorous clips of previous shows lately. I got some great belly laughs and reflections of very happy times in my life. Thanks, Johnny. RIP
I had the privilege of watching Johnny Carson live for many years. Johnny was not only funny but he treated everyone, from children to the elderly, with class and respect. There has been no one like him. I miss Johnny Carson even more today as late night talk shows are no longer funny and have tragically become a platform for bashing President Trump
This was May 22nd, 1992. Carson prophetically predicted TH-cam & Tik Tok when he said over 1 billion people will eventually have their own late night show. He said that because of the then-proliferation of late night shows in his time slot with Joan Rivers, Arsenio Hall, Dennis Miller & Pat Sajak, the latter of which had failed 2 yrs earlier. Also Whoopi Goldberg & the parody The Larry Sanders Show were in production and would start a few months later. David Letterman & Chevy Chase came along a year later, but there was talk about them around this time.
@genreonlinenet he had a restraunt in omaha nebr.where i and my bros sis's met him and he showed us the studio where he could do shows to,in fact the clip was done in his studio too, quite the entertainer and enjoyed it too
The end of Carson's tenure was also representative of the shift in the country and world. As he mentioned, the cold war was over and America was entering into hopeful 90's, the beginning of the internet and digital era. I think that's part of why Carson is remembered so fondly and nostalgically. It was the end of an era in multiple ways.
Jonny Carson is my all-time favorite late host. He was nothing but class. He was funny and entertaining. He never dove into politics and never humiliated or made any of his guests feel uncomfortable in any time he interviewed.
And THAT is the "reason" WHY Jonny remained KING of "Late night" , for so very long !!!!!!!!!! A Class act, ALWAYS .... You are missed but so MANY ..........................................
He was definitely one of a kind. And this is why to marry performers, either comedians, singers, actors, and many other's, making the tonight show with Johnny Carson was definitely what had launched their entire careers.
One thing I liked about Johnny was that when he did political jokes, he did them on both sides and not just one sided like these mainstream late night shows now.
He never seemed to take himself too seriously. He'd go out of his way to let guests talk, joke and generally help them feel comfortable. He was incomparable for 30 years.
Unfortunately for me I was too young to appreciate Johnny so I watched Letterman and Conan. I am grateful though that I can watch and share this now. He was the best. I think Conan got out at the right time.
The King of Late Night.' His last show was May 22, 1992. He was only 66. I wonder why he gave it up at a relatively young age? He said in his monogue that he would like to do it all over again bec. it had been 'a herelluva a lot of fun'. On March 19, 1999, Carson suffered a severe heart attack at his home in Malibu, California. He died in 2005. There was no public memorial service held. He was said to be a very private, almost shy person!
When I was a kid, I saw Jimmy Stewart on the show having a great conversation with Carson. Lately, it's just Jimmy Fallon fawning over some weirdo they/thems
Johnny brought excitement to late night TV in the 70s especially his skits like Floyd R Turbo were just hilarious. Into the 80s same thing. And people just talked about life and what was going on not their fricking movie or some product they were plugging. After he got older and then left Dave to me brought a similar excitement. Jay to me was not himself in the late night format. His interviews to me were often painful to watch. Then Conan came along and he was pretty authentic and funny but nothing like Dave or Johnny. And today it’s just too GD corporate plus society is just too disjointed anymore with the internet etc. There really is no oneness anymore that brings us all together. Only division, hate and greed. RIP Late Night.
johnny carson was the best no politics not like the crap that are on talk shows now.......mr carson was about entertaining......kimmel, fallon, and all the other can learn a lot on how to do a talk show from mr carson.....all talk shows suck and are nothing compared to johnny carson......
Carson was the very best. Now late night like rock and roll is dead and gone. Fallon and all the other late night host are stupid trash. Carson never discussed politics on his show all the time. Just plain simple comedy with great guest. Late night shows now simply garbage discussing nothing but worthless braindead politics.
No one has ever replaced him. He was the classiest and the greatest.
In fact, except for Leno, those who tried only sullied the show with their presence.
Absolutely agree 100%!! 😂❤❤❤
There will never be a better late night host than Johnny Carson. Even when he was bombing, he made it funny and the acts that he helped get started are beyond number.
Steve Allen, the original Tonight Show host, creator of the genre....just saying.
Nor as good… Carson epitomized class. He’s the greatest late night talk show host ever.

I feel fortunate to have grown up during Johnny Carson's reign on late night television 📺. He was the one and only "King of Late Night".❤
Yes! He was the best to ever do it.
I agree! I would look forward to days I was home sick from school so I could watch him.
Watched this live. Saddest night. No one has held a candle to Johnny since.
Or before....
Pure class. Something you don't see any more on TV.
Don’t watch then!
@@DippyHippie i dont.
Class act!!!!~ Thank for the memory!!~ Merry Christmas!!~~
You are welcome. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I stopped watching late night when Johnny retired, none of the clowns after him came close. He was an amazing comedian as well as host.
It was always a great delight to be given permission by my parents to stay up late enough to watch Johnny Carson.
Simply the best.
GOAT. We miss you, Johnny.
Yes, indeed!
GREATEST OF ALL TIME ON LATE NIGHT,NOBODY CAN REPLACE JOHNNY CARSON!!!!!!!!!!!
He was one of a kind, and he made it possible for many current comedians to entertain us.
I grew up with Carson, he made an impression on me as boy, teenager and a young man. Nobody could fill those shoes no matter how hard they tried.
A class act. There has never been another late night host like him, and likely never will be.
So much joy and laughter. RIP Johnny.❤
Thanks for posting. . . . Nice trip down memory lane.
Glad you enjoyed it

Knowing him as a friend was so great, his pictures were on the walls as well as eds pics too,at his restraunt in nebr.he was a very fun guy to know
Did you know Johnny personally?
@genreonlinenet he had a restraunt in omaha nebr.where i and my bros sis's met him and he showed us the studio where he could do shows to,in fact the clip was done in his studio too, quite the entertainer and enjoyed it too

I love Johnny he was the ultimate host
No one can replace him
No doubt about it! The GOAT! No one has or will ever come close to him!
Carson will always be the best.

My wife and I used to go to bed early....so that there would be time left to watch Johnny Carson. 😂 He was the GOAT!
He was definitely one of a kind. And this is why to marry performers, either comedians, singers, actors, and many other's, making the tonight show with Johnny Carson was definitely what had launched their entire careers.
The greatest.... none of those who followed have ever come close...
The King. Of Late Night.
The best there ever was or ever will be
The Best. Ever.
Never be another!

On a sad downward spiral ever since.
He was the best. Nobody ever came close.
This was the end of entertaning late night talk shows. Only one i ever watched.
Unfortunately for me I was too young to appreciate Johnny so I watched Letterman and Conan. I am grateful though that I can watch and share this now. He was the best. I think Conan got out at the right time.
I watched leno's monologe occationally, letterman occationally.late night died after Carson.
Just the best and I watched this, bad night.

Do the likes of Colbert, Kimmel and the rest, not feel shame when they compare their work to this man's?
They most certainly should.
I miss him.
"Heeeeeerrrrrrrss, Johnny!"
none of them were as good as Johnny
The late night shows have been going down hill ever since Johnny retired
I watched this and the 1st Jay Lino show, the old set was empty and quiet as an opening for Jay. Just as Johnny, Jay was irreplaceable!
You know class when you see it.
You’re the man
Adios, Carnac.
There was (is) only one Johnny Carson.
Letterman kept late night alive for a few more years, but it's all been like falling off a cliff.
When I was a kid, I saw Jimmy Stewart on the show having a great conversation with Carson. Lately, it's just Jimmy Fallon fawning over some weirdo they/thems
Retired 1992 & died in 2005.
The political puppets of late night entertainment today absolutely SUCK!
GOAT

Well stated.

Hard to believe johnny was only 66 here. Johnny looks like late 70s as he did not age well.
Stress.
God sad that Jimmy left the show and Jeff leno was better I miss Jeff leno he was great .
For myself the Tonight Show ended with Johnny Carson's retirement. No offence to the following hosts, but none could match his class, humor and style.
Sorry kid's you missed it this is when late night comedy was pure genius. Now it's another branch of political bs.
God bless Johnny!!!
