  • Full interview & performance by JD near peak of his career. "Prisoners" was about POW's in Vietnam. Look for the World Trade Center under construction in the "new" Frosted Mini Wheats ad (which weren't so mini in those days).

@OttoByOgraffey Thank you. It's truly amazing how much his music and life have inspired me. He was the biggest reason I went to Colorado on my birthday last month. And boy, what a great 2 days I had. I almost want to move to the mountains. I truly felt at peace there. I traveled all the way from West Central Indiana. I love my home, but one day, I think I just might go back and stay. 🏞

My grandson who turned 36 in September loved John “Member” we bought him a little tape player when he was a toddler and a tape with Sunshine On My Shoulder on it, he often fell asleep listening to that tape. What a voice! And no background vocals. He surely was good. I thought I knew all of his songs, but that was a new one to me. In 1975, when I was 10, we got his greatest hits album. I played until I wore the grooves off!

@@melcrose I’m very well aware of how John died, I’ve been a commercial pilot for over 35 years and his plane crash was something I followed to know the cause. Also, the meaning of plucked is to quickly remove, which John was quickly removed from earth. It seams you are the one who doesn’t know the meaning of plucked.

When she passed away we were on the way to the Cemetery and decided to listen to the Radio and out came County Roads take me home ❤ not a dry eye in the car . No doubt. He loved his fans and they him 😁 . We all took it as we don't know what's next but if John and Mom are there it's probably far out and pleasant.

I am 61 and live in Canada. I remember listening to John Denver, in my High School years. I can still picture sitting in the family room, right by the floor model HiFi stereo system, with John Denver's 8Track tape playing. I can still see that. Looking up into the ceiling, picturing the windy Kansas wheat fields. Oh, how the world lost a great talent.

I made a point to see him every chance I got. I think I went to his concerts about a dozen times.
One time I remember he broke a guitar string and he was just so funny when it happened. My favorite memory was one time between songs it for quiet for a second and a friend of mine and I shouted "we love you John!" And he replied "I love you too!" We were thrilled. Another time a different friend of mine and I were walking away from the venue and we saw a limo flying by. We ran as fast as we could and waved and JD clearly waved out the window back at us. I generally am not a star struck person except when it came to John Denver.
