About Jennie and Jisoo: I believe in the way I placed them. They're still in the bottom half of the ranking and I don't find this ranking particularly shocking really. Blackpink has the reputation of being some sort of rock bottom in terms of vocals in kpop, which after making myself familiar with more groups, I simply don't agree with. I got similar comments when I placed Rose 6th on the main vocal ranking. Jennie is inconsistent, but her good moments are almost too good for a vocalist of her calibre. And Jisoo; if you listen to the clips included in this video here, I really think she deserves her 6th spot. Jisoo sounded rough on The Show, which I acknowledge in the video but I don't think she should be lower because of that.
Recently, I‘ve noticed a lot of sinister energy building whenever Jisoo‘s vocals were being discussed on yt. People were showing a really ugly side of themselves and ktubers have never tried to control the spiralling hate train in their comment sections. A lot of people are trying really hard to drive her out of blackpink, ruin her reputation as a vocalist and discredit her accomplishments. And a lot of these people are neither vocal coaches nor practicing vocalists, with little to no expertise. A lot of big words are being thrown around with rather vague explanations. And at this point, I‘m kinda getting mad??? Jisoo has done nothing to you, but a lot of people are pulling out their inner Sasuke on some sort of avenger trip. Stop. Pick up a hobby. Might I suggest knitting. It‘s calming for the nerves. Also, quick question: Who is a better vocalist Rosé or Nayeon? I would rather think Rosé, but I could be wrong.
It makes sense how good Seulgi is when you learn that she's trained as a main vocalist until a wild Wendy came :D One of the best vocal duos in kpop right now tbh
The fact that Seulgi's main skill is her dancing (entered SM with her vocals but she is a main dancer so probably dance is her main skill now) but has a good technique for a lead vocalist just shows how talented she is. Her solo is a must. Surprisingly, Yoohyeon, Winter and Jeongyeon are some of my fave lead vocalist among the active ggs and if Hwasa is here, she would top this list. Winter just needs more live singing but Coachella is a start and she sings in variety show, she is a rookie so she has yet to show us her skill. JYP is wasting so much of Jeongyeon's talent when she clearly can slay Twice's main vocal lines. Her tone is good too. Yoohyeon is surprisingly could be better than Siyeon in technique and a very versatile singer. They just need more recognition.
Seulgi is def no.1 here. Love her tone and when she gets to show off what she can do. Winter is a close second, really proud of all the ladies here. They’re all talented and have show improvement through the years.

They included solar and wheein as a main vocalist (which is also not official but analysed according to the creator and ofcourse by fans) in their list but didn't even bother to mention hwasa as they don't have an official positions? Like I don't get this, it can analysed as well as it's kinda clear who represents what positions while they sing/perform so I don't think that makes any sense.
Winter definitely shined at Coachella, she had the best vocals of the night from the group imo, I truly can't wait to hear more of her she's so promising
Tbh all sm groups have solid vocal lines where even subvocals could pick up main vocal role in another group ( like I mean I was shocked when Taemin was a sub vocal as an A tier singer)

Nayeon being given more lower notes can help refine her lower register even more. Jeongyeon having more belting lines can help her show off more of her vocal prowess... I sure hope JYPE does smth about that
i agree to this sm, its so obvious that jeongyeon is more comfortable belting so why can't they just give her that and nayeon's low register has so much potential and can be improve in a short period of time, giving her low notes would give her throat a break.
The thing with Jeongyeon is that she hasn't received enough opportunities to show her voice, she is a lead vocal treated like a sub vocalist And about Seulgi, one thing that I think makes her a great lead vocal is that she really carries along with Wendy the vocal performances of Red Velvet, when they sing together is clear when Seulgi is singing and when she is not, her voice is always present, plus she has great stamina (main dancer and lead vocal things)
the main and lead vocal positions aren’t always about supported vocals or even vocal ability, it’s about how the company wants the group to sound and who can pull off specific lines the best, which is why jiu for example is a lead vocalist, her voice is perfect for the verses and bridges. same as in stayc, where sieun is the main vocal even though yoon could also be main vocal, sieun’s voice just fits stayc’s brand more

@@kphoria1009 as a SuA bias. SuA has bigger range but sometimes she sounds too shouty or not connected. When it comes to belting, surprisingly JiU is better. Her belting is clean and consistent compared to SuA. For me, SuA speciality in her vocal is her lower register. She really good at that

Yes finally people appreciating Yoohyeon!! She’s really improved since BOCA moving forward (she always had untapped potential!!). You can tell she really trained hard to get where she is now. Her vocal development we stand. Also agree about Jeongyeon. I would argue her voice did sound better in early/pre twice. Her voice clearly suits more mature styles than Twice’s music. Hoping she can get lines in their new concept. Plus we all know how crappy JYPE’s vocal coaches are… and how ridiculously high their sounds are (feel like they hide her voice)

Siyeon add libs will sound more striking like a glass cutting through and she will add a bit of vocal fry to create a texture she does these cause she used to sing for a garage rock band and Yooheyon high notes will sound more full more "western classical" she will not add much texture to her vocal it is very different which even if someone is not an inside fan or not will easily notice but give me an example on this moment where people mistook Siyeon vocal for Yooheyon tho?
I am a Winter bias but I do agree Yoohyeon ranks higher because she has more maturity in her voice and got tons of technique. Her voice fits many genre and her English diction is good, helping us to appreciate English songs she sang. But for Winter, I do believe that time will even ripen her techniques. She has very amazing voice. She's both soft and strong, I wonder what her voice could do with genres far from her usual one. Then she's full of surprises. We might be surprise to see more of her vocals soon. She's like that despite being new to the industry. That was their first time facing a big crowd but she sang like pro. Kudos!
Seulgi is suchhh a QUEEN 🔥🔥 Main dancer who sings like the main vocalist, and can become a main vocalist in ANY other group!!! She HAD to rank #1 in this list. She is also my 2nd bias in RV (first being Wendy) and my ult bias wrecker in whole k pop!! Like come on, she is DEFINITELY one of the best dancers AND vocalists in the industry. K pop idols like her are extremely rare. She is someone whom I can call the 'real ace of k pop'. She shines the most on stage. Truly a gem!!

Surprised at how high Jennie and Jisoo are in the ranking, I consistently hear a lot of serious problems with their singing. Jennie looses a lot of her technique when belting, she resorts to shouting and Jisoo definitely has a visible problem with tension and nasal tendencies. Overall, great video I love your analyses!
Honestly, the standards in Kpop aren't that high, for lead vocalists they are more than okay, most lead vocalist out there don't even know how to support a note.
omg I agree so MUCH with the Jeongyeon's issue with her lines. We barely see her showcasing her vocals cuz she usually got 10 secs of lines and that's it. On the other hand, I think she used a different technique in predebut and early Twice years. After Likey era she tends to use a more nasally voice which in my opinion it's not better. I think this technique is more difficult to her to develop and sometimes she sings with her original technique lines that originally are with her nasal voice. We almost never see her singing lines that require a head voice or falsettos because that lines usually are given to Mina which always has more lines than her. I really hope that she could showcase more her vocals and DEFINITELY have more lines in the future.
I honestly see Jeongyeon use the nasal sound more in the cuter songs - aka earlier eras tbh (that What is love verse in studio and other Japanese songs), but not that much when twice transition to a more mature sound. And like you said, she usually did not keep that nasal sound when singing live even with those cute lines. When she went higher (from C5/C#5), she can tend to sound harsher in some parts given her level, but it's more because of tightness rather than just nasality imo. When she is in good condition though, her 4th octave notes are probably the most nasal-free in the vocal line, with good projection too, I realized this after hearing them sing Alcohol free live (especially that line after Jihyo). She has been given lines using upper register (not too high though) a bit more recently, I did hear it live during Rewind and Just be yourself in the Tokyo dome stages (the backtrack is quite loud though). I understand why some might prefer other members' falsetto given their vocal timbre and comfort, but it's a bit sad too since Jeongyeon severely lacked exposure in this register, and I personally think her falsetto was decent, and I want to hear it a bit more (I actually liked those phrases in My eye candy and Pieces of love). What she struggles more with imo is about transition across registers of her range, among other things. I also hope to see her showcase vocals more (when she gets better and ready) but maybe not in twice songs lol, given how many years have passed and nothing really changes, it's better with probably some small solo singing projects or covers.
It's unacceptable that she gets as much time as some sub-vocalists in the group. I think it really hinders her vocal ability, which is a shame! Those belts in the Applause performance are SO GOOD and yet I've never heard her sing like this after that JYP sucks and that's the bottom line lol
@@aintnootherfan Ikr, the excuse for her lines in early Twice years was "her mature and sassy voice doesn't fit cute songs", but now she is literally getting less and less lines, she used to be 4th in lines in the overall album with a difference with the others vocalist, nowadays she is 5th with almost the same quantity of lines that the other members lower than her. The worst was in Taste of Love Album when she ranked 7th in lines 💀 and they were songs that fit her voice so much. Ugh... that' just sad

But Imo she singed better with the technique she used and belted in songs like Like a Fool, Headphones On, Three Times a Day, Going Crazy, Knock Knock than now in songs like Cactus, HO!, Say Something, Real You, Up No More, Bring It Back, Shot Clock, Stuck, etc. Even in her choruses in LOA and Cheer Up are different (and better to me) than in ICSM and The Feels. Well the thing people always forget about Seulgi is that even know she's an Ace in dancing but this was only an acquired skill. She always focused more as a vocalist than a dancer but in the past when she couldn't sing for a short time period , she switched to dancing fearing she won't be able to debut as an idol. But later on her voice came back as well making her a dual edge sword with her vocal and dancing skills
A lot of people have been saying that NingNing as the main vocalist of the group is obviously a better vocalist than Winter but up until this point, all that i'm seeing is that Winter's live vocals are the one that usually amaze me. The best vocals by NingNing are the ones from the studio tracks but i guess i must be the only one feeling that way.
@@mohamadfirdausbinmat2577 winter is indeed better than ningning mainly bc of her stamina, which is her advantage being a trained dancer than ningning. but overall, ningning has better technique and has wider range which are key qualifications for being a main vocalist. she has done both the lowest and highest note in aespa so far. it's not a surprise for a lead vocalist like winter to be more stable in live performances when this is proven by seulgi, nayeon, jeongyeon, yeji, chaeryeong and many others whom are only lead vocalists of their group.
I agree with this list! Seulgi literally can be main vocalist of any group except for Red Velvet. I hope you can also make one for the other vocalist or sub vocalist coz i think that their are lot of artist that has great voice if only they have a better position
Twice's logic doesn't work for me, cause Jeongyeon is clearly the best belter of the group and the higher parts are almost always given to Jihyo and Nayeon.

Seulgi has a vocal quality that is just rare to find, honestly at this point the only reason she's a main dancer is to avoid duplication of roles, yoohyeon's control over the tools she has is incredible and it 100% makes sense to me that she's so high on the list, I fully agree with calling her an intelligent vocalist

yeah, vocal coach nowdays does favor a stylistic choice i remember when my bestfriend go a vocal academy here in my place and after like almost a year her singing style change so much, before she joinned the academy she can support her voice up to Bb4 eventho she lacks consistentsy and now i noticed how her vowels now more shape like a stylistic singer and she lost all of her openness, she become very unconsistent with her suported note and sometimes even strainning at F#4-G#4 when she singing. she now more like Minnie if we compared her technique to kpop idol 😭💀

Nayeon seriously has one of the most flexible/versatile voices - she can perfectly fit her voice to any twice song. Twice songs can be so incredibly hard to sing bc of the high pitch so it can make her a little inconsistent sometimes but I think she deserves to be a bit higher on the list
No, I think Jeongyeon is better than her. But I agree, Twice songs, especially I can't stop me, is too high for them and they give the most lines to Nayeon, straining her voice.
Nayeon is somewhat of an ace in Twice, I agree! Vocally she has potential and a lot to work on, but she is a really good performer and I'm not surprised how much love and attention she gets in the fandom.

I'm aware she gets a lot of hate that she really doesn't deserve but damn, there's seriously no need to go the extent that some fans are willing to go. One stan told me they have this forum where they post videos, comments, tweets, etc. that they perceive as hate for Nayeon and then the members of said forum go out and "defend" her under those videos or wherever the alleged hate came from. I was once attacked because I commented on a video that rearranged Twice positions and said that I would've made Jihyo center if I could go back in time just to see how that would work out. It didn't even take ten minutes for them to find my comment. It's honestly a little scary.
Jisoo definitely deserves her position. Those below her have extremely noticeable pitch issues. They also often go off tune even in their comfortable rabge. Jisoo have difficulty on hight notes but her lows and mids definitely are on point.
Ikr? I'm sick and tired of people hating her and saying that she doesn't deserves her position. High notes are not everything. Ok there are many amazing vocalists out there who are the best of all time but Jisoo definitely deserves her position in Blackpink.
I'm sorry to say that jisoo can be heard out of tune even in his middle notes, several times since her debut she has done it, in her debut it was much more, and I must admit that her stability has improved a lot, but she is out of tune and quite a bit, only that many of the bp stages are either pre-recorded, with autotune or lyp sync, in the debut they sang a little more live, but not that much, either, the thing is that most fans don't know how to differentiate when it's live and when not, because audio technology has grown so much over the years that they have managed to make the difference almost imperceptible, in addition many of the fans are extremely exaggerated with the abilities of their idol. But my point is that if you hear her go out of tune when she is really live, just as I said in 2020 her improvement was very noticeable and that makes me happy.

I don't know about techniques and technicalities but Winter is one of my favorite vocalists in kpop. Her voice is just my type, I like her soft tone, chewy pronunciation, and her high pitch piercing voice. Not everyone likes it though, but I personally do like it.
Vocal tone/colour is something that people can have opinion on to love or not. If someone hates it doesn't matter. If about vocal technicalities & techniques which are proven facts with details & analysis, it can be judge & compare. Because it's a strength/skill that need to develope & learn. Not something that was natural born given like a vocal tone/colour.

It also doesn't help that Sihyeon while being the lead vocalist she is oftentimes treated like a main vocalist. She usually sings the chorus of their songs apart from getting many killing parts.
I feel like the main problem with JEONGYEON is that she's lost confidence throughout the years because of the producers not showing her they trust her enough to give her more challenging parts that could allow her to use her abilities at their full potential, despite knowing very well that she can do everything the other members of Twice's vocal line can do. Also, I feel like her thecnique isn't as good as it used to be because of this cute tone that JYPE forced on all the members, including her, making them sing in a nasal and high pitched voice, especially in their Japanese songs. Even if she doesn't use it as often, you can hear the difference between her live singing and her recorded parts. That's also why I prefer listening to her singing live. I literally cry everytime I think of how much of her potential was wasted by JYPE. She definitely is main vocalist material, but the company has been holding her back since debut. This is so frustrating.

The same thing happened to me, I stayed WTF!! But it was obvious that he would do something like that to make blink and stans feel at peace. I mean EVERY dreamcatcher has a better vocal technique than all Bp and sihyeon It's obvious that it's better than jisoo and jennie, but there you have it, that's why you don't have to rely too much on youtube rankings and you have to analyze who is really there being objective.

Great video explaining their different strength and weakness. Not gonna lie, i dont follow twice much so i was shocked that nayeon is actually a lead vocalist since she get alot of parts and high notes (not the correct way to define main vocalist but definitely a telling sign of the groups’ main vocalist esp from big 3 i feel). Also i am so proud of yoohyeon, she really improved alot. i just hope she can continue to be confident in herself, as once she get nervous or tense, it affect her performance. she is a great vocalist in my opinion( not an expert), go sweet, go soft, belt without paining my eardrum(? How do i explain this) and she deserve the praise.
Honestly if Jisoo works on her placement and tension issues she would be phenomenal. She’s already great but if yg just gave better vocal training she could be amazing. Same with Jennie.

I don't think so. Siyeon fits the most of their concept style which is rock/metal. But when it comes to techniques, Yoohyeon performs better. I think if they are another group with girl crush or bubble gum concept(?) She will take the lead over Siyeon
in terms of technique, yoohyeon has a better vocal technique than siyeon. but if you look at it overall, siyeon is still slightly above yoohyeon, in terms of vocal range, power vocals. and no doubt they're one of the best duos that girl groups have in kpop right now.
I think with time Yoohyeon could outrank siyeon if our main doesn’t keep improving herself. The student is definitely catching up to the teacher quickly. But right now siyeon still fits the sound of Dreamcatcher as the main a bit more the Yoohyeon. Though funny thing. Yoohyeon is the main vocalist in yaja time and Siyeon is the rapper 🤣🤣🤣 so there we go. Yoohyeon being the main. But yeah each girl brings a special something to the sound of Dreamcatcher.
I think Yoohyeon could vibe main vocal material but Siyeon really suits the rock robe of Dreamcatcher more and is actually a good main vocalist. It’s just I do think the company tends to overuse her voice too much. She knows her limits but often pushes herself.
Why do you have to be shocked? Jisoo deserves her position. The vocalists below her are not even better than her (not sure about Jennie). Jisoo may not be able to hit high super notes but it's ok since she's a mezzo. That's why her comfort zone is in the middle range and you can't blame her. Her voice is rich and deep naturally. Position-wise, Yoohyeon could be a 2nd main vocalist and SuA could become the 2nd lead vocalist(she's already the main dancer and lead rapper so it ain't happening but I can dream!). I don't know for sure but I feel like Yoohyeon isn't the main vocalist because she was 17 at debut(in Minx) and Siyeon was 19, thus old enough for the pressure of that particular role. Overall, the rankings are pretty fair. As always, Blackpink has some good vocalists who could improve but YG is just like nah. 🤦🏿♀️ A lot of the lower down lead vocalists are honestly members with unique voices the label wanted to feature and that's the only reason they're a lead vocalist. Like, JiU is the undisputed queen of bridges and opening songs and not really known for any particular vocal skills. There's nothing wrong with that tbh and if I really like a singer then Imma ignore bad technique and simply enjoy myself. I honestly hope everyone else does the same and not get mad because an internet stranger thinks their fave is better or because someone made a critical video that is more objective than you usually find here and it hurt your feelings.
Oh yeah, I would have loved Yoohyeon as a second main vocalist of the group! Her softer, bright voice and more clean delivery works really well with Siyeon's more punchy and pugnacious style
I just want to say that the girls in here are all incredible, gotta also admit many that's not in the list also are good singer but Seulgi being no.1 here is absolutely undebatable, her voice is so heavenly pleasing to listen to.
Oh, wow. I did think that Jisoo had problems with pitch, because lately, I’ve seen her go off key in live performances quite a few times. Also, it’s funny, because yesterday, I was on twitter saying I wished Jisoo attended vocal lessons because she could improve technically since her technique isn’t really THERE yet, but I got dragged instead, because her fans said that she sounds good and their was nothin wrong with her technique and that I should just clean my ears.
well to be fair Jisoo was really tried in that live performance, I mean THE SHOW, she was filming her drama while also preparing for the groups full album and THE SHOW, so for sure it took a toll on her, Yuki no Hana is my fav, she sounds so relaxed and good in it, so it shows she's not bad, she was just tired.

I’m actually surprised at how high ranked Jisoo is. Like I’ve said before in my other comment, this isn’t hate at all, but she’s not a strong/impressive vocalist. Her notes can run flat at times and nothing makes her really stand out amongst other lead vocalists. Idk if it’s cause she hasn’t shown her full potential or she needs more training, but at least her acting is great!

I believe in the way I placed them. They're still in the bottom half of the ranking and I don't find this ranking particularly shocking really.
Blackpink has the reputation of being some sort of rock bottom in terms of vocals in kpop, which after making myself familiar with more groups, I simply don't agree with.
I got similar comments when I placed Rose 6th on the main vocal ranking.
Jennie is inconsistent, but her good moments are almost too good for a vocalist of her calibre.
And Jisoo; if you listen to the clips included in this video here, I really think she deserves her 6th spot. Jisoo sounded rough on The Show, which I acknowledge in the video but I don't think she should be lower because of that.

Recently, I‘ve noticed a lot of sinister energy building whenever Jisoo‘s vocals were being discussed on yt. People were showing a really ugly side of themselves and ktubers have never tried to control the spiralling hate train in their comment sections. A lot of people are trying really hard to drive her out of blackpink, ruin her reputation as a vocalist and discredit her accomplishments. And a lot of these people are neither vocal coaches nor practicing vocalists, with little to no expertise. A lot of big words are being thrown around with rather vague explanations. The fact that Seulgi's main skill is her dancing (entered SM with her vocals but she is a main dancer so probably dance is her main skill now) but has a good technique for a lead vocalist just shows how talented she is. Her solo is a must. Surprisingly, Yoohyeon, Winter and Jeongyeon are some of my fave lead vocalist among the active ggs and if Hwasa is here, she would top this list. Winter just needs more live singing but Coachella is a start and she sings in variety show, she is a rookie so she has yet to show us her skill. JYP is wasting so much of Jeongyeon's talent when she clearly can slay Twice's main vocal lines. Her tone is good too. Yoohyeon is surprisingly could be better than Siyeon in technique and a very versatile singer. They just need more recognition.

I am a Winter bias but I do agree Yoohyeon ranks higher because she has more maturity in her voice and got tons of technique. Her voice fits many genre and her English diction is good, helping us to appreciate English songs she sang. But for Winter, I do believe that time will even ripen her techniques. She has very amazing voice. She's both soft and strong, I wonder what her voice could do with genres far from her usual one. Then she's full of surprises. We might be surprise to see more of her vocals soon. She's like that despite being new to the industry. That was their first time facing a big crowd but she sang like pro. Kudos!

Surprised at how high Jennie and Jisoo are in the ranking, I consistently hear a lot of serious problems with their singing. Jennie looses a lot of her technique when belting, she resorts to shouting and Jisoo definitely has a visible problem with tension and nasal tendencies. Overall, great video I love your analyses!

omg I agree so MUCH with the Jeongyeon's issue with her lines. We barely see her showcasing her vocals cuz she usually got 10 secs of lines and that's it.
On the other hand, I think she used a different technique in predebut and early Twice years. After Likey era she tends to use a more nasally voice which in my opinion it's not better. I think this technique is more difficult to her to develop and sometimes she sings with her original technique lines that originally are with her nasal voice.
We almost never see her singing lines that require a head voice or falsettos because that lines usually are given to Mina which always has more lines than her.
I really hope that she could showcase more her vocals and DEFINITELY have more lines in the future.

I honestly see Jeongyeon use the nasal sound more in the cuter songs - aka earlier eras tbh (that What is love verse in studio and other Japanese songs), but not that much when twice transition to a more mature sound. And like you said, she usually did not keep that nasal sound when singing live even with those cute lines. When she went higher (from C5/C#5), she can tend to sound harsher in some parts given her level, but it's more because of tightness rather than just nasality imo. When she is in good condition though, her 4th octave notes are probably the most nasal-free in the vocal line, with good projection too, I realized this after hearing them sing Alcohol free live (especially that line after Jihyo).
She has been given lines using upper register (not too high though) a bit more recently, I did hear it live during Rewind and Just be yourself in the Tokyo dome stages (the backtrack is quite loud though). I understand why some might prefer other members' falsetto given their vocal timbre and comfort, but it's a bit sad too since Jeongyeon severely lacked exposure in this register, and I personally think her falsetto was decent, and I want to hear it a bit more (I actually liked those phrases in My eye candy and Pieces of love). What she struggles more with imo is about transition across registers of her range, among other things.
I also hope to see her showcase vocals more (when she gets better and ready) but maybe not in twice songs lol, given how many years have passed and nothing really changes, it's better with probably some small solo singing projects or covers.
It's unacceptable that she gets as much time as some sub-vocalists in the group. I think it really hinders her vocal ability, which is a shame! Those belts in the Applause performance are SO GOOD and yet I've never heard her sing like this after that

Well the thing people always forget about Seulgi is that even know she's an Ace in dancing but this was only an acquired skill. She always focused more as a vocalist than a dancer but in the past when she couldn't sing for a short time period , she switched to dancing fearing she won't be able to debut as an idol. But later on her voice came back as well making her a dual edge sword with her vocal and dancing skills

Twice's logic doesn't work for me, cause Jeongyeon is clearly the best belter of the group and the higher parts are almost always given to Jihyo and Nayeon.

yeah, vocal coach nowdays does favor a stylistic choice i remember when my bestfriend go a vocal academy here in my place and after like almost a year her singing style change so much, before she joinned the academy she can support her voice up to Bb4 eventho she lacks consistentsy and now i noticed how her vowels now more shape like a stylistic singer and she lost all of her openness, she become very unconsistent with her suported note and sometimes even strainning at F#4-G#4 when she singing. she now more like Minnie if we compared her technique to kpop idol 😭💀

Nayeon seriously has one of the most flexible/versatile voices - she can perfectly fit her voice to any twice song. Twice songs can be so incredibly hard to sing bc of the high pitch so it can make her a little inconsistent sometimes but I think she deserves to be a bit higher on the list
No, I think Jeongyeon is better than her. But I agree, Twice songs, especially I can't stop me, is too high for them and they give the most lines to Nayeon, straining her voice.
Nayeon is somewhat of an ace in Twice, I agree! Vocally she has potential and a lot to work on, but she is a really good performer and I'm not surprised how much love and attention she gets in the fandom.

Jisoo definitely deserves her position. Those below her have extremely noticeable pitch issues. They also often go off tune even in their comfortable rabge. Jisoo have difficulty on hight notes but her lows and mids definitely are on point.

I do believe in the way I placed her. Having said that, she's still in the bottom half of the ranking so clearly she's not THAT high in this ranking.
I'm sorry to say that jisoo can be heard out of tune even in his middle notes, several times since her debut she has done it, in her debut it was much more, and I must admit that her stability has improved a lot, but she is out of tune and quite a bit, only that many of the bp stages are either pre-recorded, with autotune or lyp sync, in the debut they sang a little more live, but not that much, either, the thing is that most fans don't know how to differentiate when it's live and when not, because audio technology has grown so much over the years that they have managed to make the difference almost imperceptible, in addition many of the fans are extremely exaggerated with the abilities of their idol. But my point is that if you hear her go out of tune when she is really live, just as I said in 2020 her improvement was very noticeable and that makes me happy.

I don't know about techniques and technicalities but Winter is one of my favorite vocalists in kpop. Her voice is just my type, I like her soft tone, chewy pronunciation, and her high pitch piercing voice. Not everyone likes it though, but I personally do like it.

It also doesn't help that Sihyeon while being the lead vocalist she is oftentimes treated like a main vocalist. She usually sings the chorus of their songs apart from getting many killing parts.
I feel like the main problem with JEONGYEON is that she's lost confidence throughout the years because of the producers not showing her they trust her enough to give her more challenging parts that could allow her to use her abilities at their full potential, despite knowing very well that she can do everything the other members of Twice's vocal line can do. Also, I feel like her thecnique isn't as good as it used to be because of this cute tone that JYPE forced on all the members, including her, making them sing in a nasal and high pitched voice, especially in their Japanese songs. Even if she doesn't use it as often, you can hear the difference between her live singing and her recorded parts. That's also why I prefer listening to her singing live. I literally cry everytime I think of how much of her potential was wasted by JYPE. She definitely is main vocalist material, but the company has been holding her back since debut. This is so frustrating.

Great video explaining their different strength and weakness. Not gonna lie, i dont follow twice much so i was shocked that nayeon is actually a lead vocalist since she get alot of parts and high notes (not the correct way to define main vocalist but definitely a telling sign of the groups’ main vocalist esp from big 3 i feel).
Also i am so proud of yoohyeon, she really improved alot. i just hope she can continue to be confident in herself, as once she get nervous or tense, it affect her performance. she is a great vocalist in my opinion( not an expert), go sweet, go soft, belt without paining my eardrum(? How do i explain this) and she deserve the praise.
Honestly if Jisoo works on her placement and tension issues she would be phenomenal. She’s already great but if yg just gave better vocal training she could be amazing. Same with Jennie.

I don't think so. Siyeon fits the most of their concept style which is rock/metal. But when it comes to techniques, Yoohyeon performs better. I think if they are another group with girl crush or bubble gum concept(?) She will take the lead over Siyeon
in terms of technique, yoohyeon has a better vocal technique than siyeon. but if you look at it overall, siyeon is still slightly above yoohyeon, in terms of vocal range, power vocals. and no doubt they're one of the best duos that girl groups have in kpop right now.
Yoohyun is better than Siyeon technically, but Siyeon has good musicality and fits DREAMCATCHER songs
I think with time Yoohyeon could outrank siyeon if our main doesn’t keep improving herself. The student is definitely catching up to the teacher quickly. But right now siyeon still fits the sound of Dreamcatcher as the main a bit more the Yoohyeon. Though funny thing. Why do you have to be shocked? Jisoo deserves her position. The vocalists below her are not even better than her (not sure about Jennie). Jisoo may not be able to hit high super notes but it's ok since she's a mezzo. That's why her comfort zone is in the middle range and you can't blame her. Her voice is rich and deep naturally. Remember high note isn't everything. Her lows are beautiful and her mixed belts in the 4th octave sound pleasant and full.

Thanks for adding Dreamcatcher. Position-wise, Yoohyeon could be a 2nd main vocalist and SuA could become the 2nd lead vocalist(she's already the main dancer and lead rapper so it ain't happening but I can dream!). I don't know for sure but I feel like Yoohyeon isn't the main vocalist because she was 17 at debut(in Minx) and Siyeon was 19, thus old enough for the pressure of that particular role. Overall, the rankings are pretty fair. As always, Blackpink has some good vocalists who could improve but YG is just like nah. 🤦🏿♀️ A lot of the lower down lead vocalists are honestly members with unique voices the label wanted to feature and that's the only reason they're a lead vocalist. Like, JiU is the undisputed queen of bridges and opening songs and not really known for any particular vocal skills. There's nothing wrong with that tbh and if I really like a singer then Imma ignore bad technique and simply enjoy myself. I honestly hope everyone else does the same and not get mad because an internet stranger thinks their fave is better or because someone made a critical video that is more objective than you usually find here and it hurt your feelings.

Also, it’s funny, because yesterday, I was on twitter saying I wished Jisoo attended vocal lessons because she could improve technically since her technique isn’t really THERE yet, but I got dragged instead, because her fans said that she sounds good and their was nothin wrong with her technique and that I should just clean my ears.

I’m actually surprised at how high ranked Jisoo is. Like I’ve said before in my other comment, this isn’t hate at all, but she’s not a strong/impressive vocalist. He's biased lmao, "Winter was lower before coachella" girl is the same it's not like she debuted 10 years ago. Also Jennie is fairly more grounded and relaxed than Jisoo around the A3- G4 jisoo is more tensed and nasal. Sihyeon is stronger than both of them
