Sir after maratha swarajya lot of maratha clan mostly indulge in farming but in maharashtra they considered as Kshatriya's & here we have 96 Kula's which always referred as Shahannava Kuli Marathas, 96 Kuli Marathas or 96K.
As a Dogra Rajput from Jammu I can confirm Maratha clans intermarried into Rajputs once they proved their martial character. One of my relatives is a ‘Bhau’ sub-caste and they have some Marathi customs even today. They are held in high regard in Jammu as Rajputs.
I don't consider myself a professional historian, but will give my two cents anyway. What you aim toward, would require knowledge of languages like Sanskrit/Prakrit/Persian, scripts like Nagri, Arabic, etc. Toiling in the field to unearth inscriptions first hand would be a big plus to have.

The only downfall was the difference when Abhijit sir called out “The Great Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj” and you saying “Shivaji”. Well this incessant clamour from some sections of society to call Shivaji as Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj every time is utterly foolish and annoying. While having a conversation when you have to mention someone's name over and over again, such a long name interrupts the conversation. Secondly, this is a cultural imposition from Maharashtra because in the North we even call Shri Raam simply as Raam and don't see it as irreverence.

I heard from my roommate here in US, he is from Fiji Island, it's similar phenomenon there, his father is rajput ancestry who went Fiji during British rule. His mom is also from south India.

Swami Ramsukhdas Ji talked about a Rajput King (he named him) on hunt with some Britishers, which may or may not be true but it does tell about the ideal of Rajputs. When faced to face with a tigress at very close quarters, the King refused to fire on the tigress and endangered his life. Fortunately the tigress was chased away by the attendants by noise of the drums etc. King had hard time explaining the Brit, that it is sin to harm Matrishhakti. Wow, I'm mind blown. My family is 100% kshatriya. My last name it comes directly from the word kshatriya. My wife's family name is kshatriya. I have always been very curious why our parent inisist we marry only another kshatriya, and i say insist but that is just this generation back only one generation you didnt have a choice to marry out. When ssked question to our grand parents great grand parents they say there was no rajput they said before that term even existed we were just Hindu kshatriya at the time even before Rajput. We have not married out of kshatriya till just this recent generation. Before that, most of us believe and when we ask our elders, they say our lineage hasn't changed for thousands of years. I recently did a DNA test, and I was 100% from specifically the sindhu valley area of Northern India. We now have all settled around whats northern Gujarat. All families still have houses there even though lot of us have now for now just for last couple generations have been moving outside of India. Cv vaidya meaning of word rajput Rajputra has been use in since Even the days of panini . it is used there not in its etymological or literal sense but it plainly has an acquired individual meaning thus rajaka would means collection of raja . rajanyaka would mean collection of rajanya or Kshatriyas and rajaputraka would mean a collection of rajputs. Now it is not necessary here that rajanya and rajputra should have different senses Mahabharata is the biggest book of Kshatriya, it is supreme than Rajput Kshatriya, it is synonymous. The words in the dead languages are known to have been used by classical authors, and the Mahabharata uses the word Rajputra in the sense of a Kshatriya in hundreds of places. cv vaidya The following verse from Shanti Parva Adhyay 64 shows that Rajputra is often used in the simple sense of Kshatriya. Rajput is also often used in a higher sense, even as the word Rajputra is often used to address Draupadi in the Virata Parva, where it does not seem to mean 'daughter of a king', but There is only one high born Kshatriya woman This contradicts the claim that the Rajputra was a medieval invention.

We are from south india kshatriya community with a great value system as you mention having gothras like vashishtha, kashyapa,koundinyasa etc., we always heard from our ancestors that we are from the north and settled and adopted to the south. Most of our traditions as gauri puja, marriage customs are same as rajputs. Heard from my ancestors that there is curse of cousins enmity for chandravansis and give some examples quoting Pandavas and Kauravas.kindly shed some light on why and when this migration took place based on your research.

A most important question should be: Rajputs are the only Kshatriya people or other castes can also have a claim on ancient Kshatriya lineage? Because if the Vedic Religion has been present throughout the length and breadth of subcontinent and even beyond it then there must exist a Kshatriya lineage to rule that Vedic region.
Due to lack of data it is hard to pin exactly how the social dynamics were in pre Mahabharata era; purely karma-based society, purely birth-based or a mix of both. What is more certain is that the Post-Mahabharata society shows an increasing tendency of birth-based operation. Coming to Rajputs, the term practically indicates Kshatriyas of main north Indian triangle (from Gujarat through Kashmir to Bihar).

There is a clan of Rajputs called Kanhvanshi in Uttar Pradesh, Raja Kanhdev Singh is the founder of the clan and has founded the Kanpur City. Raja Kanhdeo Singh coonects his maternal lineage from Raja Jaichandra ji. However his mother was shifted to Rae Bareli because of the safety of her and her child Raja Kanhdeo Singh as the Kingdom of Kannauj was fighting with Ghori.

Sir after maratha swarajya lot of maratha clan mostly indulge in farming but in maharashtra they considered as Kshatriya's & here we have 96 Kula's which always referred as Shahannava Kuli Marathas, 96 Kuli Marathas or 96K.
As a Dogra Rajput from Jammu I can confirm Maratha clans intermarried into Rajputs once they proved their martial character. One of my relatives is a ‘Bhau’ sub-caste and they have some Marathi customs even today. They are held in high regard in Jammu as Rajputs.

I don't consider myself a professional historian, but will give my two cents anyway. What you aim toward, would require knowledge of languages like Sanskrit/Prakrit/Persian, scripts like Nagri, Arabic, etc. Toiling in the field to unearth inscriptions first hand would be a big plus to have.

Well this incessant clamour from some sections of society to call Shivaji as Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj every time is utterly foolish and annoying. While having a conversation when you have to mention someone's name over and over again, such a long name interrupts the conversation.

Those others who claim these status are same who ask for reservations and later want to become obc's too unlike brahmins,rajputs,khatris etc who whichever time it is ..stay strong and hold to their will and pride.
Rajputs are becoming weaker now which is a loss for all of us ..i would suggest rajputs to start a movement and try to gain as many communities like brahmins,banias,jains,khatris,marathas,sainis,kyasthas etc who support them to gain political power and institutional power soo that we can stop the annihalation of our old traditions.

I heard from my roommate here in US, he is from Fiji Island, it's similar phenomenon there, his father is rajput ancestry who went Fiji during British rule. His mom is also from south India.

Wow, I'm mind blown. My family is 100% kshatriya. My last name it comes directly from the word kshatriya. My wife's family name is kshatriya. I have always been very curious why our parent inisist we marry only another kshatriya, and i say insist but that is just this generation back only one generation you didnt have a choice to marry out. When ssked question to our grand parents great grand parents they say there was no rajput they said before that term even existed we were just Hindu kshatriya at the time even before Rajput. We have not married out of kshatriya till just this recent generation. Before that, most of us believe and when we ask our elders, they say our lineage hasn't changed for thousands of years. I recently did a DNA test, and I was 100% from specifically the sindhu valley area of Northern India. We now have all settled around whats northern Gujarat. All families still have houses there even though lot of us have now for now just for last couple generations have been moving outside of India. There are so many points here that make so much sense to a kshatriya. It's crazy. We are still here and we the shree kshatriya mitral Mandal. We still exist all over the world. @abhijitchavda

Rajputra has been use in since Even the days of panini . it is used there not in its etymological or literal sense but it plainly has an acquired individual meaning
thus rajaka would means collection of raja . rajanyaka would mean collection of rajanya or Kshatriyas and rajaputraka would mean a collection of rajputs.
Now it is not necessary here that rajanya and rajputra should have different senses
Mahabharata is the biggest book of Kshatriya, it is supreme than Rajput Kshatriya, it is synonymous.
The words in the dead languages are known to have been used by classical authors, and the Mahabharata uses the word Rajputra in the sense of a Kshatriya in hundreds of places.

We are from south india kshatriya community with a great value system as you mention having gothras like vashishtha, kashyapa,koundinyasa etc., we always heard from our ancestors that we are from the north and settled and adopted to the south. Most of our traditions as gauri puja, marriage customs are same as rajputs. A most important question should be: Rajputs are the only Kshatriya people or other castes can also have a claim on ancient Kshatriya lineage? Because if the Vedic Religion has been present throughout the length and breadth of subcontinent and even beyond it then there must exist a Kshatriya lineage to rule that Vedic region.
Due to lack of data it is hard to pin exactly how the social dynamics were in pre Mahabharata era; purely karma-based society, purely birth-based or a mix of both. What is more certain is that the Post-Mahabharata society shows an increasing tendency of birth-based operation. Coming to Rajputs, the term practically indicates Kshatriyas of main north Indian triangle (from Gujarat through Kashmir to Bihar).
