In my experience, the slop is wanted for a good reason. More slop more shock absorption! I raced tt01 and tt02, the crashes i did and see where shocking , almost scary. A sloppy steering and lees tight linkage allows the car to absorb a lot of bunps withiut affecting the servo and the structure instead. This car brushed, against other tamiya in a small track let u drive carelessly and having fun. Amazing build and beautiful painting!
Agreed on the slop. It's better like this for beginners! And the more advanced user can always shim it to their hearts contempt until it resembles a more consistent chassis.
Tha k you, glad you like the paint! I believe some slop can be ok, but there's so much here it makes the car kind of jump around a little, making it harder to drive. I'm sure some shims, and adjustments could help that though. FR setup is coming up next! 🤗
Great stuff Fil, finally a RWD that actually drives well! I find that my FWD cars understeer and it's a totally different discipline to drive them (except my FF03 which is on rails!) I'd definitely love to see it in front engine RWD setup, interesting that the XV01 is front engine but drives so nicely! If nothing else it will add weight to the front wheels and make it turn in better - it would be awesome to try it then with drift tyres fitted! Great video as always dude! Cheers! 😎👌👍
Hey Mark, yeah it seems as though many are curious about the FR setup. So, we're gonna give the people what they want to see. The good news is, although this chassis is sloppy, it handles surprisingly well. I know you had your sites set on this one, I think you'll really enjoy it. 👍🏻
Mark, on FWD RCs you can play a lot with toe out in the front, reduce toe in (or even a bit out) on the rear, and that helps a lot to cure understeer. They do appreciate finesse and less steering sometimes is beneficial (both in the speed of the input, as well as with the dual rate/EPA). =)
Would definitely love to see the front engine, RWD setup. Color looks awesome! I agree with back all of the flouro colors with white instead of silver.
That went well in rear wheel drive compared to the MB4, that colour is awesome, can't wait to see the front motor rear wheel drive, could be interesting to see how it handles. 😊😊😊😊😊
What a fun and very clever kit mate! I certainly prefer this to the smaller sister. Despite the excessive Tamiya slop, it has actually been very well designed..... quite impressive how easy it is to switch configurations. Loving that colour, it really pops..... and one thing I've noticed since getting back into this hobby in middle age is just how hard I find it to see darker colour cars, especially when going fast! You can't miss this bright orange blot on the mossy crack! 😂 Definitely could benefit from a faster motor, I think a superstock RZ would really bring this thing to life, and increase the fun substantially! As for the servo.... we've all been there mate! 😂 I learnt a few years back not to be hooked in by those cheap ebay/amazon servos.... it's well worth spending a few extra bucks to get something that performs better, and lasts a lot longer! A really enjoyable video mate, would definitely be interested in seeing more of what this car can do Fil. 👍 👍 👍
The BT-01 surprised the heck out of me, pal. I was expecting another MB-01 experience, but this was so much better! Even on a mossy crack! 🤣 I fiddled with the FR setup yesterday, and I loved it! 😍 It's getting its own dedicated vid soon. 🤗
Yes but the real supra (and most of the other sports cars that are front motor RWD) still have a 50/50 weight distribution or eaven more in the rear despite the front motor by moving the axles forward. Anyway would be intresting to see how it fares with the option available.
Very cool review Fil. I like you did it with different configs. Besidee the play in the suspension, I'm nomating it for the speedrun. For scale reasons I'm interested in front motor and RWD. For performance I would say mid motor and RWD. I'm with you with the oversteer. You react on that easy and instinctively right with steering in the other direction. On understeer you had to loosen the breaks again, that's not in our nature.
Well said, Dirk. Seems we have similar driving styles. I'll take your nomination into account for this year's speed run challenge. This would make a good platform! 👍🏻
@@poorboysrc Thanks for keeping it in mind. And as another pro, it's possible interesting, how motor and gear positioning might efect the results. Beside the usual suspects motor, gears and wheels.
It looks fantastic Fil! I love the fluorescent orange paint! I am glad to hear this is a bit better of a drive in the rwd setup. It does suck to have all that slop in there and being in the linkages it is going to be very difficult to get a lot of that out of there. It will just match my driving style LOL!
I'm blown away that it tracks as straight as it does! And as the car started to break in it started to feel better and better (other than the servo crapping the bed!). I'd love to hit a carpet track with it to see how it performs. 😏
@@poorboysrc I would love to run a carpet track at least once but it would have to be with a junker body. I am going to hit every barrier on that course 😂
Yeah I watched it over and over, studying the movement of the car as he drove. Hahaha. He was right though, the FR setup is the most authentic driving experience. I made the switch yesterday. 😉👊🏼
Amazing video Fil! Brilliant to see you doing all that work on the bonnet of your car out in the wild! Much respect for that dude!! That Orange paint is 🔥. I also back in white with those Fluorescents pal 🙌🏻
Thanks Craig! Yeah the ol' Disco gets some hard miles put on her. She takes me where I gotta get to, and even let's me work on her hood like it's an RC shop! Haha. Love that beast! 🤣
Nice job with the video. I think you should do the front motor / rear wheel drive. There was another youtuber (Rex RC's) that did the front motor / rear wheel drive set up and was impressed with it. Thanks again, hope to see more videos on the BT-01 before I purchase one myself.
Just bought two at time of comment. Been a Tamiya fan since the early 00s as a teen. Now in my 30s, this seem difficult to put together. 😅😅 And yes FR is something I want to see. Thats what Im trying to do the my Supra. I’m painting my first one white as homage to the his real life White Supra they used in the movie.
@@poorboysrcNow I remember when I was young why I hated turnbuckles haha. It’s together and not running due to needing electronics. But the slop is a bit bad but not horrible. Had to order the oil filled dampers. The supplied ones are junk and gotta get new screws for bell crank steering. 😅😅😅 Building my FWD soon.
It's not all rainbows and sunshine, is it Fil? 😁 Ahh, the joys of the hobby. That Supra looks amazing though! I just saw Rex's RCs video on this chassis and it was a good explanation on the 3 configurations. I think the front engine RWD setup is for realistic handling, although it's not ideal for performance.
I wish it was always sunshine and rainbows! Hahaha. Ah well, that's what the spare parts bin is for. 😁 Yeah Rex's review was eye opening to me. I'm happy he did it! It made me try the FR setup and I really enjoyed it! 😉
Well its looks sweet in that colour and the chassis is genius design and handling not bad at all....Yep a BUT and its slop! Tamiya dropped the ball on that as certainly could of been something they could of done to eliminate the slop or at least reduce it! But the design is excellent going from rwd to fwd so simply! So overall l would say its a thumbs up from me! Great vid Fil enjoyed that buddy. I love the way you take the lot with you Fil! I am the same on beach runs as its a few miles their! l take a load of spares and extras to make sure the show keeps rolling on! Cheers James
Ph yeah, gotta have a well stocked RC pit bag, don't we? I've had that backpack for about 10 years! It's been on hindered of miles of hikes, and RC adventures all over Western Canada, Rocky Mountains, Vancouver Island, California, Moab, and more! It's saved my bacon many, many times! Hahahaha! -- As for the BT-01, it's awesome, dude! I can't believe how well it performs, all sloppy things considered! I tried the FR yesterday and loved it! More on that in the next video! 👊🏼
It would be interesting to see the configurations compared, for instance if you time it over a distance, around a cone and back over a few laps, or even better a slalom.
Yeah I like this idea! 👌 I wanted to do that, but I don't have any of the track equipment to measure laps, etc... I figured I'd do an analysis after trying each setup. I tried FR yesterday and loved it. 🤗
Did the front motor rear wheel just because once i added a lipo it made a very balanced chassis. I have yet to run it but my thought process made it make sense lol. Did use your coupon code too....but on a kyosho beetle. Thanks Fil
You did, eh? Alright, I'm gonna go For it! Haha! It should be interesting to see how it runs. And you grabbed the Kyosho Beetle, did ya? Nice choice! That is such an iconic buggy! Stay Excellent, Bruce! 👊🏼
Nice one! I just placed my order on Tower Hobbies for one to start messing with it and get that suspension tight! And some oil shocks as well. To me, it makes sense to put the motor on front and RWD.
Eight on, I think you're really gonna like it! It's sloppy, REALLY sloppy, so it needs some clean up that way, but I still love it. Check the next video in the BT-01 series. I set it up FR as you mentioned, and it was wicked! 👍🏻
Come on, Fil, the FR is what makes this chassis special! and you could also try to solve the slop with shimming and many tutorials on fixing this chassis already online! You liked this one, so give it a proper chance. =) Can't say I'm a fan of the paint effort. Sorry, Fil! and not because of the FnF reference, which I was already set on doing myself! The black mirrors and - especially- the wing really called for them to be painted in the same orange, a layer of TS clear varnish to make them glossy, and it'd be great. Also, not a fan overall of black wheels, as they effectively "disappear". You could have a flat wheel there and we'd never know. More so if done with a PS can on a hard plastic (not polycarbonate) material, which can leave an uneven finish, hence the TS clear on the molded pieces I mentioned before.
I'm starting my shimming journey as we speak. And the FR conversion was made today, along with some testing, and maybe even a hotter motor! Vroom vroom! 😎👊🏼
Really nice paint job! Thats a color I would recommend as it provides a good contrast to the ground. Interesting concept of a rc car at all. Maybe this could be the base for the next speed challenge?😅 Awesome vid, thanks for showing! 😊👍
That is a Super(a) car, and i'm so happy its friday 😉 A FR setup would be cool to see Yeah you are right, back fluorescent colours with white makes it looks better than silver. I usually use silver but for like PS27 28 n 24 white makes it look better
Super(a), haha. Love it! Yeah I try to get a video to you guys every Friday now, but we had a death in the family that put a hold on editing for a couple days. But FR video coming soon! 🤗
Great build and runs. Love the color. You’ll need to decal it up and compare with Fast Freddy’s movie builds. I’d be interested to see if the 3rd configuration has improved cornering with the additional weight up front. Cool chassis.
That paint job is just Supra dude! I def would be trying to get slop out of linkage…but they being said I can see how in comments it can protect it…bet it handles sweet both motor setups would be fun you can almost make it a totally diff car…atleast handling wise!
Haha thanks man! I'm happy with how it turned out! I've got some bits and pieces coming in the mail to try and help reduce some slop, but I think I might aim to keep some in there after reading all the comments. FR setup video coming next! 👊🏼
I would like to see the front motor with the rear wheel drive. Just my thinking, having the motor and trans weight over the front tires might have some more control in the rear, and give you the option to throw the rear end out a bit. Just guessing.
Yeah I suppose I didn't give that configuration the credit it deserves. Lots of guys are requesting to see it, so stay tuned and I'll make it happen! 😉
@@poorboysrc I think it would just be cool to see what it will do to the geometry of the chassis and what it changes as far as the handling of the car.
@@kmattlong yeah the more I think about it, and the more comments I read on it, I'm starting to warm up to the idea. I'm gonna get started on the conversion today. It's a little more involved than the quick FWD conversion in this video. 👊🏼
Very informative. My interest is in a FF rally chassis-my FF-01s don't have the clearance to make it and are in any case getting harder to get spares for,so a new chassis gives me options. Liked the colour of that body but hope the chassis is offered with more body choices,or even better just a chassis kit like the TT02s.
I'm sure we'll see additional Bodies and setup options for the BT01 down the line. Tamiya may be testing the waters per se to see what sales are like before diving in with more tooling, etc... Thanks for watching! 👊🏼
Nice one Fil, interesting concept like the Alfa but not one for my collection I think. I guess all the play in the geometry is down to either end being capable of being the front and accepting the steering mechanism. Maybe some strategically placed spacers may help things?
I think spacers, shims, steel suspension balls will all help take up some slop. I tried the FR configuration yesterday and really enjoyed it. It might make you reconsider purchasing one for your collection!
Hi i think you should really try the FR (front motor, rear drive) setup because that’s how the setup in the real-life Supra. If it’s more involving to switch, doesn’t matter, can always do it in another episode. Also, i think it would be great if you could experiment with tyre width and weight. If the FR setup went all over the place, you can try to use wider tyres at the back, or put some weight leads around the rear axle. This would make the chassis to be more realistic, which is what the BT-01 is going for, I believe. The rear-motor, rear drive seems like more suited to Ferrari/Lamborghini mid-engined supercars.
I can see you have already seen the light re fr setup but a video i saw said that's the best serup he had but he used it on an indoor carpet track. I keep putting mine off but i was going to do fr anyway.
Yeah I was... hesitant... haha. After watching Rex rip it up, I was sold. I tried put the FR yesterday and it was a lot of fun! I'll have a video for you guys soon! 👍🏻
@poorboysrc yeah it was Rex's that I watched. I'm a little disappointed in the slack in the joints on this but luckily I won't be racing mine, just running it on the street.
@@dannyseville2543 yeah she's a sloppy gal, but I still love her! Haha. I'm working on acquiring some inexpensive goodies to clean up some slop. It'll take some time for them to arrive though! 😭
I’d think like on the tt02 you should be able to do some shimming, and adjust links to take the play out of the front and rear.. the longer wheelbase definitely helps. But I say rwd drift car 😁
This looks AMAZING!! I am a confirmed F&F fan so am considering the chassis purely for the body as I already have TT-02 chassis and the Supra was never 4WD. I for one, would love to see the Front Motor RWD configuration as that’s more prototypical. Have you considered swapping the the Tamiya Open faced reinforced adjusters 54868 as they have a ton less slip in the XV-02RS Pro vs a stock XV-01. I’m ordering two packs for the XV-01 to tighten it up 😊 As ever, loving your work my man 🚗💨
That's a good question, and to be honest, I never knew that part existed until now. It looks like that open end adjuster would act as the outer part of the upper and/or lower a-arm? Is that right? How would it attach to the chassis? And thanks for the support!
The adjusters would replace the ends of the steering arms / toe rods. They take a proper click to get in place but take out so much of the slop. The TT-02 Low Friction Balls will take out more of the suspension slop too, as well as being smoother. Also love the D2!! I’m from the UK and have owned three series 1 Discos, I love them!!
@@edwardthomson8569 ah OK I see what you're saying (sorry, I woke up early and started replying to comments before I got my coffee in me!) 🤣 I appreciate the tip, I'm gonna grab a set of those adjusters along with some bearings, low friction TT02 suspension balls, and get this sucker dialed in! As for the D2, his name is Ron Burgundy! Hahaha! I love 'em! I removed the rear seats and built a fold out bed for the back, so my wife and I can explore the corners of the world, and camp in it. It's such an awesome vehicle! Glad yo see some more Disco fans out there! 👊🏼🤗
I have put a pic on the Facebook post of the adjusters on steering arms, it’s surprising how much of a difference they make. Love the exploration vibe you have going and the Camel Patch too!! Discos are so much better than Defenders as they feel like a car not at tractor. Having had both I always prefer a a journey in Disco S1 or 2.
@@edwardthomson8569 yeah the Disco/Defender comparison is so interesting. Defenders look awesome, no doubt about that! But like you said, very basic interiors, and a tractor like driving experience. Disco's have all the refinement, plush interiors, power everything, dual sunroof, traction control, you name it! And they look SO cool! But a Disco will fetch 1/10th of the sale price a Defender will (at least that's the case here in Canada). I've always found that contrast intriguing. I'll stick to my Disco's, for the price, they can't be beat! 👊🏼
I love this new chassis and love to see front motor RWD with some drift tyres and maybe a gyro and test your drifting skills there better than mine im sure 😂
I thought about that, and you know what? I've never used a gyro before. I see they're starting to come standard on some receivers, which is pretty sweet. 👊🏼
Great vid bud I’m hopping your doing your poor boys speed challenge this year I will be ready to give it my full attention this year after my 111 mph crash last year I will have lots of spare parts thank Hulk from H and w racing channel
Yeah cool little car I'm past Tamiya for the most part! My 4x4 Blackfoot Some TT01s in loft and a blackfoot bodied CC01 and thats it. But seriously like that body though! For scale (Ha! Ha!) Needs front engine rear drive but it's it's working who cares buddy!
I bet they made a difference. I think it's time I picked up a set, some bearings and a few other key upgrades to make it work a little better. I appreciate the support pal! 🙏 👊🏼
Awesome colour, i had that exact colour years ago on a supra tt01 (or tt02 cant remember) but sadly when i moved house it got lost. Really want this kit but the slop will annoy me, im sure some manufacturer will come out with a kit to lock it soon i hope. Going to buy one soon anyway, been a while since i built a kit would have to try front motor rwd 😎
It's a great kit, I think you'll love it. A few things here and there to take up the slop, and you've got a nice RC to work with. And good price point too! 👍🏻
Nice video as always, buddy! Seems a bit weird, this chassis from Tamiya, seems like they just felt they had to make something new, and decided to innovate and make it modular, it's so popular these days... How many on-road chassis they got by now? Not sure this one was needed... But thanks for going through it for us, now we don't need to buy this, ha ha!
Yeah it's a different duck, that's for sure. I'll say though, it's growing on me! I tried the FR configuration yesterday and may have fallen in love with it. 🤦😁
The kit did come with window masks, which includes masks for the headlights. They look funky, as there's 2 pieces of window mask tape for each headlight. I assume it's like that because of the curved nature of them. 👍🏻
So I’m not in to Tamiya at all, I’m more of a basher, and used to having companies like Vitavon, M2C, Schorched, etc to work with for upgrades. What companies are out there that would have upgrades for this platform. I watched your video because of the Supra, which depending one what upgrades are out there, you might get me to purchase my first Tamiya kit, after seeing your video. Awesome job on the video, and love the paint job on the Supra man.
Oh wow, I wish we could get M2C and Scorched to make Tamiya parts! A guy can dream, right??? 🤣 As for upgrade options, Tamiya is pretty much #1 in that department. They sell their kits at a cheap price, then sell all the hop-ups (which would likely come as standard with many other brands) separately. Tamiya just does things a little differently... This chassis is brand new, just released. So I'm sure there's going to be third party upgrades hitting market soon. Companies like Option #1, RC Aidong, and others tend to pop up all over ebay and Amazon with nice quality upgrade options. It might be a while before we see them though. If you've never owned a Tamiya, there's just something highly addictive about the amazing box art, the build, upgrading, etc... Give it a whirl, I bet you'll enjoy it! 😉
haven't ordered one yet but it's exactly what i was looking for after i built a TT-02 so it's gone happen at some point :P probably gone go for option C which may be unwise (front engine/rear drive) should be easy to drift but might not be an option more of a thing it just does all the time, we'll see. main reason for wanting to do it that way...that's where the supra's engine is located...granted a supra gets a major benefit from gravity and sheer mass also the engine isn't sideways still behind the front wheels but it's close enough :P but thank you for pointing out the amount of slop, was wondering how much i was gone need to do to tighten it up...seems like quite a bit :P
The FR configuration is my fav! Check out my most recent video, where I convert to FR and test it. It's awesome!!! I don't know much about drifting, but this chassis might be a good candidate. The RR setup is great, and after trying all 3 setups, I think it would probably be the best to drift with. But again, I'm not the best guy to ask. Thanks for watching! 👊🏼
@@poorboysrci saw, it's suprisingly stable. didn't consider the battery's placement/mass in that config :O but it's not that i wanna built a dedicated drift chassis, like a powerfull RWD it should just be a thing it can do...somewhat :P probably dropping in a 17T brushed to that end, my TT-02's are rally builds that i use in the forest so the torque tuned was fine...this one i wanna have a different kind of fun with :P wile still on NIMH, i don't trust myself to own LIPO battery's :P
You should make it front motor rwd it makes sense because the real set up for the supra is that. There are hop ups for both chassis to fix the slop in front and the rear.
I do think Its going to loose a lot of traction on the rear, but who knows It may just work fine, and It would be ever better cause the real Supra is rwd with the engine at the front
I was so hesitant to do it, but after watching Rex's RC do it, and reading all the comments, I did it yesterday and really liked it! Video coming out soon. 👊🏼
Slop is wanted in order for kid and beginner to bash around without much worries... this car are made for starters and to rage against each other... i totally understand the frustation but trust me, other hisher quality kit like the xv01 or c11, the tc01 etc have very decent steering amd overall superior quality.
@enricomiceli5517 so that means slop is OK? That is a ridiculous statement! A fiesta doesn't go around corners but a £500,000 ferrari does so buy one of those! It shouldn't matter if its a beginner car, that slop is a joke
@enricomiceli5517 oh and built xv01, egress, Avante, astute, original c11, Xray xb2, ta02, tt02, Kyosho's, mugen and currently race an ARC A10MF 24. I do have a small idea of r/c over the last 35years or so
@@philipgreensmith1694 ok man, i am no dubting your experience or your knowledge, i am just trying to remind that this kit come with plastic bushing :) these are basically plastiky toyrs compared to other kit. As i said, the slop is frustrating , no doubt bur first can be resolved with an alu or high torque servo saver + alu steering set + as i said, for the price and for what this car is it is Ok. By ok i mean is a good starter and u are supposed to compete with kit of the same league (like any tamiya competition), or to bash mindlessly. If u want precise steering get something a little more expensive or buy upgrades...

@@YoShImUrA53 Hi - thanks for the tips! Yes I do enjoy running my FWD cars and it takes a little practice after driving a 4WD car! 😅👌👍
Would definitely love to see the front engine, RWD setup. Color looks awesome! I agree with back all of the flouro colors with white instead of silver.
I spent the day yesterday converting to FR and testing. Aaannnddd... it was awesome!!! I'll have a video up soon! 👍🏻
@@poorboysrc Awesome! Looking forward to it.
That went well in rear wheel drive compared to the MB4, that colour is awesome, can't wait to see the front motor rear wheel drive, could be interesting to see how it handles. 😊😊😊😊😊
That was supposed to MBO1 - Not MB4.😮😮😮😊😊😊
It's funny, all 3 configurations are very different I'm the handling department. I'll have an update vid on Wednesday for ya. 👊🏼
Definitely could benefit from a faster motor, I think a superstock RZ would really bring this thing to life, and increase the fun substantially!
As for the servo.... we've all been there mate! 😂
I learnt a few years back not to be hooked in by those cheap ebay/amazon servos.... it's well worth spending a few extra bucks to get something that performs better, and lasts a lot longer!
A really enjoyable video mate, would definitely be interested in seeing more of what this car can do Fil.
👍 👍 👍
The BT-01 surprised the heck out of me, pal. I was expecting another MB-01 experience, but this was so much better! Even on a mossy crack! 🤣
I fiddled with the FR setup yesterday, and I loved it! 😍 It's getting its own dedicated vid soon. 🤗
That colour scheme is awesome 🤩
Right on, glad you like it! 👍🏻
You have to build it front motor and rwd to get the real supra experience. That's how it came from the factory if I am correct
You're right, they were front motor, RWD. Looks like there's a lot of interest in that setup, so I'm gonna jump on it! 😎
Yeah, but it's his toy.. Sooooo. 😉
@@RCBirds you said it well, Dirk. There are many variables that make this chassis an interesting one. 👊🏼

Flippin brilliant Fil!!! 😁👍
Hahaha I love it! I've been called a lot worse, so this is a nice change! 🤣👊🏼
Orange nice, what I did that Slash shell. The longer wheelbase better with the RWD over the other, but still over price to the TT02.
Yeah the longer wheelbase is making a huge difference! Stability has increased significantly over the shorter MB-01. 👊🏼
Beautiful paint job on the supra! I would give it a personal nickname such as, "Sunburst"
Sunburst Supra! I like it! I named my Discovery Ron Burgundy, so we think alike with our vehicle names. 😉👊🏼
@@poorboysrc nice. Back at you bro!
Rex had the best luck with front motor, rear wheel drive, but I imagine you've already seen his video by now.
Yeah I watched it over and over, studying the movement of the car as he drove. Hahaha. He was right though, the FR setup is the most authentic driving experience. I made the switch yesterday. 😉👊🏼
That orange really pops. If I had this kit I'd do front motor/rear drive, so I'm curious to see what that's like.
I tried it this weekend and loved it! 😍
Amazing video Fil! Brilliant to see you doing all that work on the bonnet of your car out in the wild! Much respect for that dude!! That Orange paint is 🔥. I also back in white with those Fluorescents pal 🙌🏻

Nice job with the video. I think you should do the front motor / rear wheel drive. There was another youtuber (Rex RC's) that did the front motor / rear wheel drive set up and was impressed with it. Thanks again, hope to see more videos on the BT-01 before I purchase one myself.
Yeah I watched Rex as well, and he had great things to say about the FR setup, so I tried it, and loved it! I've got anvideo coming out soon! 👍🏻
If I had one, I'd try front motor rear drivee, IMHO would help loosen up the rear and make the driving experience more exciting. Great channel

Right on, hopefully you get yours soon! They're very simple to assemble, I think you're really going to like it! 👍🏻
Yeah Rex's review was eye opening to me. I'm happy he did it! It made me try the FR setup and I really enjoyed it! 😉
@@poorboysrc Right on! o7
It would be interesting to see the configurations compared, for instance if you time it over a distance, around a cone and back over a few laps, or even better a slalom.
Yeah I like this idea! 👌
I wanted to do that, but I don't have any of the track equipment to measure laps, etc... I figured I'd do an analysis after trying each setup. I tried FR yesterday and loved it. 🤗
I will say it looks like it handles better as front drive
It did, hey? It felt really nice and planted in FWD, but it's just not as exciting as RWD! 🤣
Did the front motor rear wheel just because once i added a lipo it made a very balanced chassis. I have yet to run it but my thought process made it make sense lol.

Can't say I'm a fan of the paint effort. Sorry, Fil! and not because of the FnF reference, which I was already set on doing myself!
@@poorboysrc PS also edited my first comment. A couple of typos that were uncalled for/made no sense 😬
Really nice paint job! Thats a color I would recommend as it provides a good contrast to the ground. Interesting concept of a rc car at all. Maybe this could be the base for the next speed challenge?😅 Awesome vid, thanks for showing! 😊👍

Thanks dude! Yeah some slop is expected. This much slop is a little concerning. Lol! But I'll fix it up and make it go fast. 😁👊🏼
Looks great. Love that orange
Thanks, brother! 😁
I'll have a FR setup video for you guys tomorrow, just working on editing it now. I actually LOVED this setup, I was shocked! So stay tuned for that.

I’d think like on the tt02 you should be able to do some shimming, and adjust links to take the play out of the front and rear.. the longer wheelbase definitely helps. But I say rwd drift car 😁
I think you're right. Shim, shim, shim, steel suspension balls, and that should reduce slop significantly! 🤩
Could the larger wheels changing the final drive ratio help the handling over the MB.
That's a good point I hadn't thought of. You're probably right. 👍🏻
I’m ordering two packs for the XV-01 to tighten it up 😊
As ever, loving your work my man 🚗💨
That's a good question, and to be honest, I never knew that part existed until now.
@@edwardthomson8569 ah OK I see what you're saying (sorry, I woke up early and started replying to comments before I got my coffee in me!) 🤣

I haven't started the build yet, but I noticed no masking for the headlights. Am I missing something? Or do I need to mask them myself?
The kit did come with window masks, which includes masks for the headlights. They look funky, as there's 2 pieces of window mask tape for each headlight. I assume it's like that because of the curved nature of them. 👍🏻
Are the lights buckets or transfers?
There's a light bucket up front only. There are two sticker options for both the headlights and tail lights. 👌

As for upgrade options, Tamiya is pretty much #1 in that department.
@@poorboysrc ok, thanks man
haven't ordered one yet but it's exactly what i was looking for after i built a TT-02 so it's gone happen at some point :P
probably gone go for option C which may be unwise (front engine/rear drive) should be easy to drift but might not be an option more of a thing it just does all the time, we'll see.
main reason for wanting to do it that way...that's where the supra's engine is located...granted a supra gets a major benefit from gravity and sheer mass also the engine isn't sideways still behind the front wheels but it's close enough :P
but thank you for pointing out the amount of slop, was wondering how much i was gone need to do to tighten it up...seems like quite a bit :P

@@poorboysrci saw, it's suprisingly stable.
didn't consider the battery's placement/mass in that config :O

probably dropping in a 17T brushed to that end, my TT-02's are rally builds that i use in the forest so the torque tuned was fine...this one i wanna have a different kind of fun with :P wile still on NIMH, i don't trust myself to own LIPO battery's :P

@@poorboysrc thats great Man I can't wait to see how did It handle with that set up
good job! my TH-cam BT-01
Thanks for watching! 👊🏼
Hope you put some hop-ups on it.
They're in the mail as we speak. 👊🏼
Bushings and no foams? Nien
Yeah, I like to live life on the edge. 🤣👊🏼
I want see the front motor rwd.
It's coming in my next video. 👊🏼
Don’t ruin it and make it front motor rwd. Keep it rear motor.
I was so hesitant to do it, but after watching Rex's RC do it, and reading all the comments, I did it yesterday and really liked it! Video coming out soon. 👊🏼
Love but don’t have money 😂
Ah, sorry to hear pal. Save, save, save and hopefully enough will add up for one. 👊🏼
Bushings=sloppy
True that! Time for upgrades! 🤗
The slop in that is ridiculous 😒 come on Tamiya! Look at what they were building in the 80s and early 90s compared to the new stuff 😢
Pretty crazy stuff, hey? I'm amazed it handles as well as it does! 😳
