  • Are your colleagues incompetent or are you a condescending b*tch? Have you accidentally been rude to others all this while? Do you also lack self-awareness like old uncles who watch porn on their phones in public at full volume?

Podcast suggestion : only child vs child with siblings
    1. Do kids hate their parents for having an only or with siblings ?
    2. Are Only child stereotypes real ?
    3. Do really siblings support each other when older or when parent dies ?
    4. Pros and cons of being an only child /child with siblings ?
    5. Sibling rivalry ?
    6. Is the grass always greener on the other side ?
    7. Do only child bear all the burden and struggle with grief when parent dies with no one to relate the grief with ?
    8. Are only children bullied a lot ?
    List goes on..
Kindly consider this suggestion. Thanks TDK team.

@@MuseHathor I’m alright. Thanks for asking. We had this discussion within my married friends circle. It was interesting to know their opinions. So I thought this might make an interesting podcast.
Also I feel every woman goes through this decision making phase of stopping with one or having two/multiple children. Of course it’s individual decision finally. Also some women have medical conditions where they want to have a child but couldn’t. 😢

That's what the young gen of 40 50 years later will say about u. Hahaha. Probably not smart phone but other tech in that era.
Same thing as what current 40 yrs old say bad things about youngsters and when u reached 40 u will also say bad things about the youngsters.

Agree that it’s about awareness and acknowledging (apologising) if you have a legitimate reason to be distracted. I have a friend who takes up 80% of the conversation and scrolls social media/online shopping sites in the remaining 20% when I’m talking. I was super perplexed because I don’t get distracted at all in a conversation since it’s basic respect. Literally amongst the lowest tiers of having manners, notwithstanding individuals who have actual conditions that would affect focus. I did bring it up eventually though. She got mad initially lol but was able to make a positive change which is good. But I’ll always be surprised that people need to be told such things.

Due to the nature of my job, I really need a lot of conversational and social skills. Self-awareness is very important. I think it’s always good to have a general set of questions to get a sense of the person and to find a common ground as that’s the easiest way to bond/socialise. Honestly, knowing how to communicate is so important and useful because you know how the mess with people’s mind. Positive language is also important! But most importantly, body language is the most important factor while communicating (also the main way we communicate) and yes it can be trained. There’s so much more I want to say because this is something I’m super interested in and something I have to teach people but I shall stop here or this comment will be wayy too long haha!

Young people may also be sick, extreme period pain or pregnant but you just can’t tell from their appearance. While it should be encouraged to give up seats for the elderlies when we can, elderlies shouldn’t expect seats must be given to them..
This is in Japan’s moral education system…

Warning: what I'm going to share might not be applicable to all unless you are tall and big as me, and have courage.
    1. I will stay my lane and persist my way forward if people decide to be inconsiderate when they enter the train before allowing others to alight, or when a group of people occupy the whole walkpath, or when a cyclist speeds towards me even though he should have slowed down.
When these happen, I'm cool to bump hard into the person's arm or shoulder since the person should have the common sense not to walk into my lane when one ought to stay in the opposite lane. The person has no brain to think that if he walks into my lane, then how am I going to walk? Walk onto the grass/ drain cover?
    2. I will sit down at a table even though it has been choped with a packet of tissue unless there are several items to indicate a group of people wants to sit there. I will assume an item means one person and I don't mind sharing a table with stranger(s) when the hawker centre is packed. And when the person or the group comes back, I will just give a smile and says "we can sit together. It's ok with me." I don't get it why people can't share table. It's quite commonsensical not to share too personal matter or business secret in a public area anyway.
And I will be very willing to share my table with others when they ask to join, as I practise what I preach.

not exactly a pet peeve since it really doesn't affect me but why does it feel like the elderly (of all people) like to stand up early for their stop on public transport? is it just generational instilled kiasu-ism? or are they conscious that their movement is already slow so they try to prepare more ahead of time? but at the same time, compared to others, they also have so much more to lose if they fall. is whatever they are fretting over really worth the risk of incurring potentially fatal injuries by abandoning their very secure seat way ahead of their stop? i need answers hahaha

    • @gh8066
      @gh8066 ปีที่แล้ว +2

very stressful and maybe paiseh when the whole bus is staring at you and the driver also lookin at you from his mirror to see u slowly getting up, tapping your card and getting off. so they try to prevent this by moving earlier. don't say they kiasu la, they actually quite civic-minded don't want to waste other's time

would like to know when will it b necessary to intro your friends
like lets say u r saying hi to another of ur friend who u j bumped into and ure having a supa short talk only then i think it wont rly b necessary to intro cause right after u intro ure gna leave anyw so its abit pointless cause theyre not even gna interact w each other & idt they will start saying hi to each other j after that one intro
so j wna ask how to determine when to intro the friends that u r w to friends that u bump into

I think using phone while someone is talking has its usefulness, if the person is going on for too long, and you wanna signal him/her and you glance at your phone, its ok, its meant to be a signal.
But if someone does it comfortably in front of you for a prolong period of time, the person doesnt value you, or is taking you for granted. simple as that.

    • @MuseHathor
      @MuseHathor ปีที่แล้ว

I mean, if you kinda want to signal that the person has been talking for too long I feel like it’s less rude to just make up an excuse to leave or tell the person straight up.
From my experience when someone glances at their phone when I talk to them it almost feels like they’re saying “I’m really not listening to you right now I’m just trying to get through this conversation” which is quite rude.
Also I agree about the using phone for a prolonged period of time point.

I hate it when the default language is mandarin in a group setting and they continue speaking in mandarin even after someone who joined in and clearly they don't understand a word of mandarin. Same thing happened when I was ordering food with an Indian friend and the crew spoke to her in english and then me in mandarin assuming I'm chinese therefore I should understand them.

if i see someone whom i dont know is old enough or not, im not sure if i shld offer my seat in the fear of offending them.

    I just ignore all these
    starts with a Noooooooooo...
or every 2 3 words add a but, like urm....
cos every one does it and no one cares but it still pisses me off.
    what about professionally ,
news casters , Radio DJs how often do they use these words loosely ? even with them having scripts or prompter.
the other thing is small talk at the office.
some one sees some on at the pantry
" eh you on break ah ? "
    "no just slacking... "
    or being captain obvious
I don't have issues about all your work related communication
cos just get the work done and f off on time. like army style.
don't harp too much on how its said but enough to get work moving.
I have seen ppl just taking videos of altercations on boarding and alighting and just enjoying the popcorn.
yet every one just rushes on ..
the best time to dream like you are in Japan is...
enjoying peak period MRT travels on and off at CBD area / town stations.

To Jon Paul's comment on how foreigners have more 'fun' conversations. I see where he's coming from in that Singaporeans are generally more 'direct' and 'boring'. But to add a bit of context, personally if I'm interacting with you for work or some other type of 'transactional' purposes ie. you are not my friend, I'm not going to bother with spicing up the conversation. I have limited social battery, so it's gonna be super direct ie. boring to you. Sorry (not sorry)!
