I mean the solution is pretty simple, if you make a mess (it happens to everyone at some point) clean up after yourself.
The toilet i will always 100％ avoid is MRT Station toilets. MRT Toilets is always the most dirty compared to those in Malls, Hotel etc
The "last resort".

The busy ones are the worst.
Actually the new downtown line toilets are pretty nice and clean!
Coming from a Malaysian who used to work in Singapore, the cleanliness of public toilets in Singapore is already 10x better than in Malaysia. I had to go by customs previously from Singapore to Johor & happened to be with a friend that could barely hold in her pee; thus I had the immense honor of visiting the toilet at the customs after reaching Johor & it was a nightmare from what I was used to in Singapore. Also, my secondary school in Malaysia had the terrible reputation of having walls smeared in poop & many used bloody sanitary pads that no one had the decency of at least throwing into the bin. Hence, I always visited the so-called haunted toilet from the other block as many refused to use it; hence it was so much cleaner 😂
I realize that Malaysian toilets are usually squat toilets and it's more cleaner in a way to use these kind of toilets. In Singapore toilets in shopping malls are almost never squat toilets only in some coffee shops will they have squat toilets.
I was so surprise when Jon said ‘ you know u r breathing in poop if flush without closing lid’. Finally someone who share my thoughts!!! Everyweek my relatives will come and i had to spray disinfectant a few times before i use again…

topic suggestion! now that christmas is around the corner, i would be really interested to know how the panel goes about buying gifts for their other adult friends and family - are presents less exciting when you can nowadays easily just buy what you want?
Best public toilet is Singapore's Jewel and Changi Airport.
To put it simply, if we do not have these hardworking & dedicated foreign men & women working here, our country will not be known for her cleanliness. Our citizens need to be more civil minded. Do we leave our home toilets wet and toilet papers all over the floor? Even worst when the ladies leave their sanitary towels around? Lately plenty of used masks are thrown around and even in the lifts.😬
Please be gracious & show kindness to these workers.
This is my theory on people who "destroy" public toilets... Many people have the fear of using public toilets even if they're clean, so they always wait till the last of the last minute before using a public toilet. What else happens when you can't control it, it splatters everywhere. I've personally seen poop on the walls and the poor cleaner had probably had a hard time cleaning it.
Dang really miss the big metal walls. I used to be afraid of public toilets, or even the one in shopping malls. After NS, pretty became immune to most public toilets. Shopping Mall toilets are a luxury
I’ve got a tip for Jon Paul and the everyone else here regarding the toilet sensor going off in the middle of being on the throne. Before sitting down, take 2-3 squares (or whichever length would suffice) and place it over the sensor.
There are ways of tackling 2 different scenarios, if there’s a ledge behind the toilet, use your bag to pin the toilet paper in place. If it’s just a wall, use whatever liquid you have in hand and splash a little on to the wall, acting as an adhesive for the toilet paper.
This way, our asses are shit-water free all the time. And of course, you can look back at your master piece with this method too 😂
Best shopping mall toilet has to be Ion. I'll usually head to hotel lobby toilets around orchard if I want clean toliets.
I think it is up to maintenance and personal responsibility cooperating, cuz you shouldn't expect the cleaner to clean it every second.

1. If you take a dump: just give it a good spray down with water to wash away the solid particles. THEN SOAP YOUR ASS and spray down with water again while you use your hand to rub away any soap. Then you wipe dry. You can put soap on a tissue before going into the cubicle or just bring a small bottle in your bag. WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AFTER.
2. If you pee: spray with water and wipe dry. WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AFTER.

I promise you, these habits are life changing. You need to keep your private bits fresh and clean okay haha!

Life hacks:
If the flush keeps firing, and there's Poseidon's kiss, take some of your toilet paper budget, suspend it with your wallet or AirPods to block the sensor.
Then use that same toilet paper, before you flush, to clean your drops on the seat if any.

When foreigners say wow sg so clean and green please direct them to our mrt toilets 😊and best of all kopitiam toilets
Wouldn't it help if toilet bowl covers are transparent/translucent then even with the lid closed we can see if we flushed completely and if it is clean before we use it?

If you can't hold anymore like either that public TOILET or sideways gutter. It's already a no brainer.
But usually I would go straight to mall even if I just feel a little bit "tak sedap" already. I never wait until the true stomachache arrived.

WTF, just tissue???!!! Still can sense it's there, no matter how "kering" and neat your wipe is. I only use toilet paper to wipe AFTER clean to dry the area only.

buc-ee's a gas station in america won awards for how clean their bathrooms are... considering one of the location is the worlds largest gas station is pretty good at upkeeping their toilets!
i think they clean them after every use i do believe
if u think about it one of the locations has over 160 gas pumps... so u can imagine how many urinals n toilets they have... they even have a light on the toilet stalls when they are in use

If people can't be personally responsible, places need to manage it better. The same way the airport has clean toilets. Why do malls and other places not put more priority in managing the standards of those places. Sure people can be messy and gross, but why is nothing being done about it.
I would love if there could be fines for it and cameras that detect it. Who knows maybe to use a toilet you should verify your identity to use a toilet and then someone inspects before and after lol
