I’m very happy to get to know Cambodia again through your videos!
Indeed, the Cambodia I watched in your video is very different from what I thought in the past!
Especially the local people’s English proficiency is impressive!
I’m looking forward to traveling to this underrated country in the future!
You did a really great job, thanks a lot for sharing! 👍😍🙏
You should get a medal from our Tourism Ministry. Thank you so much for all the positive comments.
@@suhribzevolution645 sorry this video all about cambodia please go away stop spreading hate .no one like your kind here 🙏🏻
Really don't thia to me 😂😂😂🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭
I totally agree with your analysis of Cambodia, Zane. Sadly, most people still have that mindset of Cambodia in the 90s after the Civil War. Cambodia has come a long way!!! I'm so happy for its people.❤❤
Cambodia needs people like you
Cambodia seem to be an interesting place and we put it on our travel list . Your video presentation is informative and educational, thanks for sharing it with us .
see you soon at cambodia 🙏
Thank you, Zane, for a very informative video. Your video may have changed some people's perspectives about Cambodia. Yes, you're right, Cambodia is on the rise. With 60% of its population being youth, Cambodia has a huge amount of active people. Maybe in the past 10 years, people saw Cambodia as a slow-developing country, but remember that it was because we had just suffered from the Khmer Rouge, and many older people, like my mother, did not have access to education. Nowadays, it's different as young people have a lot of opportunities. I believe in my people, and I believe they are going to run this country well.
In the1960's (before Khmer Rouge), Cambodia was the pearl of Asia. Even Singapore officials visited for inspiration. After Khmer Rouge, it was the wild west...now it's the fastest growing in SE Asia...
Delusional lol Pearl of Asia what?
@@ledanglove you don’t respect history troll…
@@ledanglovePhnom Penh was the cleanest and most modern city in Southeast Asia during that time. That’s the reason why it was granted the nickname “Pearl of Asia”.
Glad you enjoyed your experience in cambodia. Your comments are well thought out.
I came to PP Cambodia 9 - months to live full - time , and I thought I was going to
stay here for a month and
then move to Siem Reap.
Well, everything you mentioned in your video
completely - changed my
mind , and here I will stay
til I die.
Living all my life in the US , and then stepping off the
plane at the airport was quite a shock. That first -
ride in a Tuk Tuk to the hotel made me think I
was in a alternative - universe. The things I
saw happenings were
beyond belief, but now
they are completely normal.
I smile more than then I
ever have, the Khmer people never - cease to
amaze me with their kindness, how polite they
are , and their humility.
The neighbors countries might banned you from theirs countries because of you said nice things about Cambodia. Especially they don’t want to hear Cambodia is safe, developed and the next hot spot in SEA.
Banned for saying nice things about Cambodia? An overstatement, a little bit paranoid even. From your fellow neighbor.
@@jaanish3 Yes its total BS
Much appreciated for experiencing and positive feedback in my country, Cambodia. 👏👏🫶🇰🇭
I’m Cambodian and I went to Vietnam and Thailand several times and I think that Phnom Penh and HCM really has similar vibes! I encourage long term stay in Cambodia, because first, tourism isn’t really a smokeless industry as it claimed to be, second I think too much reliance on tourism kinda limits high value productivity and encourage middle income trap, and I think long term stay in the country will endorse public sector to do better (better for living and raising child rather than raising unsustainable tourism industry).
But be more than happy to welcome anyone who wants to visit! And thank you for the positivity 🥹🙏
Cambodia has the best VISA - no hassle and inexpensive for retirees and expats.
Yes, you are right, then see people suicide everyday in Cambodia
@@rickyang1600 just stay in Thailand troll
@@rickyang1600and it’s not happening in VN?
How easy is the visa compared to Thailand??
@@stevek343 if you want retirement VISA, Thailand requires checking in with the government every 90 days, health insurance, $$$ deposit in Thai bank and new tax any income from your external country and expensive … For Cambodia , come in with E general VISA for $35 then go to an agent for extended retirement VISA, $290/ year … There are business VISA for around $290/ year… it’s best to come to Cambodia on E general VISA, then go to an agent and talk through options of what you need…
Atta boy. Cambodian people are magic. I've lived and thrived here for 7 years. The world will come. Khmer people smile from the heart and it shows baby!
Thank you for your time and effort in promoting this beautiful country.
Thanks for your positive experience in Cambodia, you are pretty accurate with your analysis about Cambodia for the next hot spot in Asia cuz every thing is cheap, services is excellent, people are Super friendly ,down to earth, less population definitely more room to breathe and roam around compare to neighboring countries. Love Cambodia, been there many times, just came back last month.
Use the words reasonably priced, or inexspensive perhaps, NUTHIN' is CHEAP in the world TODAY !!!!!!!
Great video. I spent about 4 months in Phnom Penh and loved it. I’ve also been to most of SE Asia and Cambodia is my favorite of them all for many reasons. Yes it has some issues like everywhere, but it’s a great place to spend time. And the people are so friendly and those smiles can go along way. Thanks for the video!
Although I do enjoy your food, restaurant touristy videos, my fav is absolutely when you talk to summarize at the end of a trip. Great information!
Unfortunate and dark part of history, but important to learn and visit. Thanks for teaching us so much about Cambodia. Where to next?
cambodia will miss u. i know you’ll return very soon. my prediction for u.
Nice to see you again 😍
Much appreciation for your support of our Country and people. We are very glad that you enjoyed your visit to our country. Be safe, happy and good luck on your adventure. ❤❤❤USA Texas
i recall dropping a clip of AUD outside the Thai embassy in Cambodia while doing a Thai visa run...
Came back in about 5 mins in a pannic... freaking as i had done the most stupid thing i could ever imagine dropping a heap of cash...
sure enough a tuk tuk driver came up and handed me back the stack of AUD polymer 50s... WTF! are u kidding me? FR,? FR,? fr!
Handed it all back... the Samloar driver who gave it back was clearly poor..
i was stupid! he was honest! i rewarded him $100 aud and he was happy.... I was saved... my trip was going to be ruined without rhat cash.
thay would have been about 2012... and it stands out in my mind as one of the most amazing things (and stupid things on my part) to ever happen.
Ive been to Cambodia many times mostly doing Thai visa runs but have found rhe ppl very genuine. I will be moving there this year. Im sure things have changed but am looking forward to it greatly.
😂 thanks for sharing and let us hear your story
Cambodia is in my bucket list. I guess among the favorite of Filipino tourists in South East Asia
There a lot of pinoy living and working in Cambodia. I can say pinoy and Khmer have similar way when it comes to their outgoing spirits and attitude
Great informative Cambodia series and cultural promotion
Thank you for your positivity you are right for a next level like indonesia 🇮🇩 or Thaïlande 🇹🇭 it’s coming soon 🤗🤩🍾🇰🇭 viva cambodia
Love your videos 😊😊😊 Zane
I've watch tons of videos on Cambodia and so I wouldn't be surprised how welcoming the locals are. Everyone says it great there. I plan to visit there.
Hey Zane!! So sad the Killing Fields. Ty for showing us some of the horrific history 😢
How come nobody talks about the massive bombing USA was blowing up the countryside were 50% of the people were forcing them to go to the cities to avoid getting blown up
For currency use in Cambodia, i suggest on the street use Riel because small vendors always use riel as priority and like in super market Dollar is much easier to pay. You know what I mean Label in USD
7:15 Me too. I never felt unsafe in Phnom Penh, or in fact, anywhere in Cambodia. I loved the place so much.
Thank you for sharing your experience at The Killing Fields with us. 🇰🇭
Cambodia need people like you to show the reality of a wonderful country and its people, last paradise that still exists today .
You said last paradise, for me who escaped from Khmers rouges, I'm really a fraid to come back to Cambodia, sorry to say true , I go to Thailand for my holiday, but I don't go to Cambodia.
@@lesly3905It takes time to get over that, but my parents are both genocide survivors and they have nothing to be scared of. Today Cambodia is completely at peace, like there are zero rebellions in Cambodia.
The first time I was in Phnom Penh was 2016 I got my breakfast with the hotel so I left 2 or 3 dollar tip and they acted like it was their birthday 😊
They have very little, and they appreciate small gestures and kindness.
That´s cause that is a lot of money for Cambodians. I tipped 10 dollars on my second day there. The guy didn´t leave my side for days. He was great though and not pushy or anything. Just greatful i believe.
I am so glad that you have a great time in Cambodia ❤. Gods bless you and have a wonderful time with your trip.
We welcome all tourist and want them have good trip in cambodia and ejoy their life during holiday break
PP is a great city. I lived there for 2 years. Lots of great people, food a day sites
I left the country back in 1979 after I had to live through the genocide under Pol Pot killing madness. Most of my family members did not survive as we were forced to move out of the Phnom Penh City in 1975 to work in the rice fields and to dig cannals.
My first return trip was in 1995 when the country first opene up to the world to search for my surviving family members.
I've returned to visit my sole surviving sister every year for the last ten years since my retirement from Minnesota , US to heal the past. It's very safe to visit Cambodia now as the country has come a long way since the prolonged civil war was officially ended upruptly in 1998.
Be mindful of your surroundings . Be kind whenever possible. It's always possible as life is short to do the things we don't love doing.
Happy and safe travels from a genocide survivor ✌️
Thanks for sharing your story 🙏
Your videos are so interesting! What will be your next adventure?
Thank you for visit Cambodia ❤
Thanks for your good time in Cambodia 🇰🇭. Your video reviewing our country helps us, Cambodians, a lot. We suffered so much in the past, and we've tried hard to live in peace nowadays. We never hesitate to give warmth and kindness to one another ❤. And those smiles are precious from our hearts ❤️. Always WELCOME you again and ever, Zane ✨️🇰🇭☘️🫶
Your sharing is very cool , brother .Thank you🥰🥰
Wow! I was at the same pub in Phnom Penh sitting where you are just two months ago. Small world!
If you have a stomach problem (it's the same here, many times), what you seek is Pepto Bismal! Never travel without it. It can get in tables and is easier to travel with. Unfortunately, I have never been able to find any in Southeast Asia. Another idea is Septra DS {Bactrim] as prophylactic (preventive). If you know you are going into the high-risk areas (Think India etc.), Be sure to pack along Lyte supplements. With bad dysentery, you can get really sick fast, especially in the tropics.
Thanks ❤
Pol Pot destroy 26 Air line company , sell 56 heavy industry to Thailand, sell over 100 factory to Thailand, make Thailand a country products.
Before khmer rouge Cambodia salary 200$ - 400$ during Thailand salary 40$ - 60$ , if Cambodia not Pol Pot Era, Cambodia salary estimates 2700$ in nowadays.
I don't agree with the salary. Before Khmer rough Cambodian n Thai were on the same path. Same GDP per Capita.
Before the Khmer Rouge era Cambodian population 8 million, Thailand 40 million. GDP divide to population, Thailand poor than Cambodia.
Cambodia has 101 cinema in Phnom Penh, Thailand 25 cinema in Bangkok, 95 cinema in Phnom Penh destroy by Pol Pot.

We visited that same killing field on our trip. So jarring to see what happened there. The Cambodian people are so kind. Such a travesty, especially when you stand in front of the tree of bracelets.
thanks for sharing about cmabodia
This is my country, thank you for visiting my country, just over 40 years after the war, it is very good today
I’m guessing that you probably have a lot of new subscribers, and willing to bet they’re mostly Cambodian! (I’m one of them, lol!) We love, welcome and support people who visit our motherland! Thank you for embracing our culture and contributing your voice to a country that’s underrepresented, underrated and truly a hidden gem! I hope you’re able to go back one day soon. 🇰🇭❤
Matey 👍 nice seeing you up and about
My brother and father died in Khmer Rouge. Only my mom and I survived. We came to America as refugees in 1981.
Have a safe journey ❤
Yesh, it could be around 3M. After the victory against Pol Pot in 1979, people are still dying from surprise attack from Pol Pot army that still living in the jungle. On some roads to the province like Koh Kong, your car could get hit by a RPG while traveling. People are still suffering until 1993.
Putting in perspective, the Cambodian population at that time was only 8 million. That was a quarter of the country's population 😢
Thanks for visiting Cambodia like your video
Thank you so much, buddy, for making a video about Cambodia.
Glad to see that you've enjoyed your stay here Zane! I love your insight as it is very much accurate to what Cambodia really is as a country. Thank you for shinning light on the true Cambodian experience. We hope to see you again soon!
Good on you. Cambodia just reunited in early 1998.until now cambodia just has peace land and hamorny about 20 years only but she tried her best to developing country. Cambodua has long hisotry since 1st century untill become KHMER empire during year 802 to 1430AD. After that khmer empire started collapse because of civil war inside country and religion movement from Hinduism and buddhism. And SIAM which is thailand nowaday tried to invade khmer land after khmer empire collapse. And now we are still proud of ourslef as khmer people that we have own khmer alphabet and number, own culture.and also traditional even we lose lots of land to neighbours.
Phnom Penh is an easy bus ride to Saigon so you have people traveling back and forth
7:49 If you go clubbing it's also pretty safe if you are nice to everyone, because they also come to enjoy. I had been to many club in Cambodia both high end and low rank clubs.
Thank U for sharing the VDO
Thank you kindly positive comment!
Thank you for your acknowledging of Filipino people - from Philippines
I’m so glad you explored the correlation between Cambodia and the term ‘LDC’ as I also agree with you that Cambodia should graduate from it. I am super proud of Cambodia for rebuilding this much since the Khmer Rouge. I do still wonder how developed Cambodia would’ve been by today without the Khmer Rouge and the Civil War😔
Ive lived in Cambodia for seven years, it is a wonderful place, the people are so welcoming and kind, of course it has its badpoints but doesnt everywhere? Come and visit agin soon!!

I've been there about 3 times and stayed there(Phnom Phen) for 2 months this year and it was pretty cool. Not sure if it was my favorite SE Asian country but knowing the language made it an easy place for me to work remotely for 2 months.
Thank you for visiting our country 🥰
You're definitely selling me on a trip to cambodia on my next SEA trip tour.
I'm starting to realize that my perception of Cambodia is very 2000s.
This is my first trip to SEA, which has been Bali 》 Ho Chi Minh 》Bangkok 》 Home to Australia.
You're getting me thinking. Maybe the next trip will be Cambodia 》Laos 》Nepal etc
Welcome to Cambodia🙏
Where I lived in a close by area there is a man alive today that his nickname is 100 hearts. Not for his way with the ladies, but his way of ripping out hearts and his brother 100 teeth has since passed. Not Cambodia but not far away!
9:42 "very bad traveler's diarrhea"
I recommend staying away from street food, especially in Southeast Asia when both cooked and uncooked food will spoil very quickly because of the weather (it's hot!).
First time I visited Cambodia was 2011.
I found S21 and Choeung Ek so powerful and moving.
I came back to Cambodia in 2017 and I just couldn't go to S21 and Choeung Ek again.
I am coming back to Cambodia Feb 2025 with my Girlfriend (her first visit) and I will head there again BUT I know that I will find it so tough and thought provoking.
You got it reverse. S21 is a prison. Prisoners are interrogated. They then were transported to Chheung Ek to be killed.
Take a shot every time you see a Toyota
Much appreciated for the vids, I do hope to get there sometime soon. I have never been to Cambodia except for a visa run from Thailand 😁although I might be going to Chiang Mai in October as I have not made it there yet either. Thanks and keep them coming, oh what does Angkor beer taste like?
.75 cents for a glass of beer and look at the size of the glass WOW! 👍🏾
Everytime you say Kai-mer I crack up. My friend, go to google translate English to Khmer and it’ll give you the proper pronunciation. It’s one syllable pronounced “Khmai”. Cheers!
thanx for pointing that out to him. i felt the same.
How long will you spend in Cambodia?
Welcome to Cambodia❤🇰🇭
fyi -your go pro won’t get snatch or you’ll get rob at night ppl here do parties late night so the best thing to do after you drink is get a grab back home
The reason why the beer is that there are many companies manufacturing beer.
You are getting the 'runs' brcause u have no microbes in your gut to deal with the bacteria, you have no antibodies against the common food and water germs.
Its an uncomfortable and horrible norm that unfortunately you must endure.
Be glad its not real food poisoning where you are having intense chills, fever, tremors, vomiting, and shooting brown water from your rear.
its mostly due to cheap food stalls and poor food regulations that lot of these countries have, its why its quite common for people to get sick especially from street food stalls; some these places can substitute chemical poisons/plastics/extremely harmful pesticides which are bad for humans, but at the same time it can taste delicious and they do not know that and due to poor "meat" handling/ poor hygiene , due to poor education; these issues can be common in india, asia, africa, etc... I do like how people will make excuses for it. Theres a reason why food regulations exist in the first place and very strict at times, so people can avoid food poisoning.
I do always find it amazing, with lot of travel youtubers, take the risk to eat from food stalls and complain later about, taking that risk; to be part of that culture. Risking ones own life, isnt a good thing.
Hey Zane, thanks for sharing this video and other videos. I'm so glad that you have enjoyed your time in Cambodia. I grew up during the Killing Field. Very blessed to be alive and to see Cambodia and Cambodians thriving. To answer some of your questions about the Khmer Rouge era. The Khmer Rouge was created by Communist China; it was China's campaign in the 60s -70s to turn all of SE Asian countries into Communism. It was unfortunate for our people as you have learned. The UN recognized Pol Pot and his regime as a legitimate government of Cambodia was because they (US) did not want to recognize the new Khmer government (Hun Sen), which was still under Communist Vietnam's influence. It was President Carter and the UN, of course. Crazy, right? Politic! Anyway, I truly enjoyed your videos and kind words about our country and people. Come back again. Peace!
I said Cambodia is the new hot spot in SE Asia when I lived there in 2007-8.
I didn’t really any hear horns honking , is this unique to Cambodia in the region?
Because of Pol Pot, Cambodia’s population is small.
Im a Cambodian American (borne/raised in America). I had traveler’s diarrhea when I went to Cambodia. I think it’s from the different bacteria microbes in gut we aren’t exposed to in the west. Cambodia was okay for me and not really interested to go back as I’m not really into traveling. Just had to do it one time to exp. my ppls/cultural origin.
7:35 It's pretty safe here, but at night you have to be careful with your belong like Phone. same to other part of the world you need to be careful with your stuffs.
I couldn't find something I wanted at a small shop so the owner closed his shop and took me on his motorbike to the store I needed and brought me back to my hotel before returning to reopen.
