- Cambodia, from its natural beauty to historical sites, iconic temples and laid back beaches, this Southeast Asian country is referred as the kingdom of wonder.
It's certainly intrigued my interest for some time, so in April I made my first solo trip there.
On this travel I'll be exploring the cities of Phnom Penh, Siam Reap, Battambang and Kampot then ending on the island of Koh Rong
I'm excited to see what adventures await on this solo travel experience spending three weeks in Cambodia

I am an Indian citizen, living in the US and visited Cambodia last year. I felt so happy to see Angko Wat and a few other places there. I felt so happy to see Indian influence on their culture and religion.
Many influences in Cambodia. Great place to visit.

I left the country back in 1979 after I had to live through the genocide under Pol Pot killing madness. Most of my family members did not survive as we were forced to move out of the Phnom Penh City in 1975 to work in the rice fields and to dig cannals.
My first return trip was in 1995 when the country first opene up to the world to search for my surviving family members.
I've returned to visit my sole surviving sister every year for the last ten years since my retirement from US to heal the past. It's very safe to visit Cambodia now as the country has come a long way since the prolonged civil war was officially ended upruptly in 1998.
Be mindful of your surroundings . Be kind whenever possible. It's always possible as life is short to do the things we don't love doing.

That is some story, similar to ones I heard from a few locals I spoke with (of course off camera). It's unfortunate about your family losses but it's so nice to hear that you're able to return home, mend from that past and enjoy your country again.
It very sad to know that but You are one of many Cambodians who just went through the horrible time in the 7Os here in Cambodia.
I myself and many countrymates did not have such a fortune like You dear.

FYI future visitors.
You can actually pay for your visa in the Airport. When you exit the plane the way it is routed it forces you to the Q or line where immigration is and pay for it at the booths. I know bc my wife whome is not Cambodian had do. If I remember its 30 bucks USD at the time of this comment June 2024.
