Fun story about Narsha's "Bbi-ri-bop-a" is that, when she first heard the track, because it sounded so unique, she knew she had to perform the song lol I think it's been said before that it sounds so "avant-garde"/"ahead of the times" that it's like a song from 2097 or something XD She actually performed it for potentially the first time in 10 years (since its release) earlier this year for the MMTG special concert :') Yep, Narsha is the queen of uniqueness. She rocks like a different hairstyle in almost every comeback, and she's been sporting her star tattoo on her right wrist since 2008! Also, she's the only member who's married :) I think she tied the knot some time in between 2015 and 2019, but I could be mistaken.
There are so many things in Bbi-Ri-Bba-Bba/Bbi-Ri-Bop-A, I love the back dancers dressed as Freddy Krueger, the virgin being stained red then becoming a crow, also the lyrics is really dark. Last year when BEG did a comeback, I think when they were in Knowing Brothers someone said that music sounds fresh even nowadays and will sound fresh even 100 years later. Mamma Mia makes more sense when you read the lyrics, it's a conversation. Narsha is the cool girl going to the party, knowing the handsome guys and the Sunny Hill's girls wanna hang out with her. So the lyrics there are lines like: Seung Ah: Are you gonna take me too? Narsha: Sorry but you’re out So they followed her and started making question: Jubi: Why you so out of breath? Narsha: Stop the question now And the last lines are: Narsha:Are you pissed off? Sunny Hill: Alright that’s me Narsha: Grow a little and comeback Like if she was saying Sunny hill is too young to go there with thoses men... But in the end, Narsha is still a shy girl hahaha
I had a feeling that "pleasantly confused" would be your reaction to these MVs and I was right LOL! This is one of my favorite things about Narsha and why she's my bias, she's never been scared to do weird things and go "out there" with her artistic choices. For "삐리빠빠" the MV makes sense when you consider the lyrics: it's talking about Narsha being/playing a god-like figure that people can believe in and and follow in, in a world where there is nothing bad any more and she'll take away the memories of anything bad that's ever happened to you. I think the MV shows a virgin-like worshipper (on the beach in all white) that becomes that god-like being (when she turns into a crow) and has to learn how to live her new life (running through the forest/on the cliff-side) before finally becoming that figure that is the controller of her universe - the universe that the construction worker has fallen into and has had his mind warped by (the end hugging the jackhammer!) And someone else mentioned the meaning of Mamma Mia which also makes more sense with the lyrics. It's a conversation between a cool older woman that is living this fast-paced exciting life that isn't exactly what she wants but is what she's turned into, and these younger girls who are watching her wanting to be like her and her telling them to be cautious. The MV basically shows that, with the Sunny Hill girls following her, and at the end when she's alone with the guys finally showing that she's not exactly comfortable with the image she's created for herself either. I'm glad that you enjoyed the two MVs even if they were weird and left you dazed LOL! I cannot wait until next week and you get to finally see the MVs for GaIn, my bias wrecker! Fun fact: Sunny Hill (at the time of the MV) was BEG's label mates and a co-ed group. The guy you see in glasses/headphones during Narsha's make out scene is their male member! From what I remember, at about this time he wasn't really performing with the group but had become a sort of producer for them. They're on my list of groups I plan to request down the line for you to request to! It looks like 2nd Gen era is where my requests are going to stick to for a while!
Bbiribbabba is such an iconic song for me - I was totally addicted to it when it came out - to the point that it was my ringtone for ages haha... and even now I consider it one of the most addicting songs I've ever loved hahaha
If you want to hear a more tame song from Narsha then please react to Narsha - I'm in Love. This song is very underrated but at the time couples would slow dance to this and you'll hear it at every cafe shop in Korea. Also "Narsha ft. Miryo - I Love You" and "Narsha - A Girl That You Know". Those songs showcase a different side of Narsha and her vocals shine more.
