Watching it snow on a boring winter day. Wife walks in and says how many of those damn things do you have? Dont really know, maybe I'll count them! Just past 2000 she says get those flys off the table because lunch is ready. Lost track of where I was at, and now I have something to do this afternoon.😊
Wow, I love that tie...cant wait to tie and fish some..."thin to win" and "go small or go home" is the mantra on my tailwater. keep those videos coming! thank you!
Can we get some About Trout Merch with the Quote..."I like my thorax's a little beefier". Video is looking hot hot hot my friend, studio looks awesome, so does that new vice!
You can definitely fish these as droppers. I like to fish these on a tandem nymph rig, especially before the hatch peaks. It’s also a good searching pattern when it’s not buggy.
can you quick explain what a macro lens is for filming? & if you are comfortable telling us what camera do you use? im trying to record some of my fly tying sessions & struggle with focus. thanks for any help. but that was an awesomely clear video really enjoyed it
Absolutely, A macro lens is a lens that specifically allows you to focus extremely close to a subject so that it appears large in the viewfinder (and in the final image). Its great for up close shots if I used another lens I wouldn't get the detail and sharpness. I film with a Sony a7iii and the lens for the fly tying is a tokina100mm f2.8. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback!
You absolutely can, the marker darkens it up. Baetis are dark brown when the molt. Let me know how the root beer thread works for you! Also 18/0 semperfli nano silk only comes in a few colors.
@@funfactory1673 Please post your perfect version and we can all judge . I'd like to say thank you to AboutTrout for the time and effort.. We as fly tyers are the perfectionists .. All the trout want Is something that looks like food . They take it or they dont..

It’s a great pattern, I know it will produce for you!
That new master vice is spicy! Nice pick up!
The hype is real! I’m in love.
Love the macro lens
Can’t wait to get out more tying content with it. Thanks for checking out the channel.
I can see this is going to hammer them! Thanks for sharing.
It’s a fly box staple for me!
A staple in my box for sure! Instead of legs i just tease out some of the dubbing.... crushes

Awesome! Thanks for watching!
I tie a similar Root Beer up here in Wyoming... I wrap Root Beer Crystal Flash for the body and rib it with small copper wire. Works a treat.
Thanks for sharing that pattern!

Nice simple tie. Do you fish it behind a dry so it sits in the film or as a dropper above a heavier point fly?

Love it👍

Nice 👍🏼
Why not tie it with a dark brown or root beer thread?

Do you use 7X tippet on the San Juan?
Yes, depending on the conditions and fly size.
Is that A&W or local craft root beer? Asking for a friend.
Local craft
@@AboutTrout Only the best for your trout I see.
you are a baller.
Its not a nice a smooth and neath, cuz its not proportional at all!
The fish don’t seem to mind it not being “neath”
@@AboutTrout the thorax is too big for the body there is no conical shape, and you should make the body bigger to the thorax
