I'm happy they were open-minded enough to listen to reason. The plastering, the majority of the finished work on the ground floor, it all turned out beautifully. Very talented family.
It’s obvious that they aren’t building what most would like. But as someone that has designed and built his own house, they’ve done a marvelous job in controlling costs, but also listening to those with expertise.
This couple did a terrific job with a very limited budget. But we saw here something we almost always see with this series: couples who would rather go far over budget than downsize. This house is 300 m2 or about 3200 ft2 for just one family of four; they could easily have reduced it to, say, 230 m2 or 2500 ft2. Insulated properly with the savings, thereby reducing their ongoing utility expenses, they could have stayed within budget.
Such a lovely, beautiful family.. It was a big project but you don't see them stressed, we see them working together harmoniously. Thanks. Good example as a family, all hardworking and good thinkers.
I love this beautiful house. Steward and Rosey built this from love and creativity. The children were wonderfully helpful and did what they could to where they could. Blessing from Nova Scotia, Canada.
This couple should have their own show! It’s their house, their vision, their aesthetic, I don’t understand why people were so rude to them, even the host! It’s an amazing home. Very thoughtfully designed. Loved it!
Kevin is always slightly abrasive - he only gives the builders a dose of reality. If you know about his philanthropy you would know he is a pretty decent guy
Haven’t finished watching but so far loving the kids’ personality and energy. Also love that the house riles up the boring locals, cool looking house so far
I wouldn't give a toss what the neighbors think about "MY House"! I live in a place where every house is exactly the same boring #CapeCod style and would love to have a home like this. They did a great job using the materials 💖
I am glad to see for a change a family, a couple who are not sold an expensive concept by Architectd, but who did things reasonably (value engineered) and who wont owe the bank a lot of money.
Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout! Grand as, beautiful, comfortable and a family home that has all the neccesary comfort that exudes warmth literally and figuratively. Good stuff. Thank goodness I didn't comment at the point where there was discussions about no underfloor heating or insulation because I was about to make comments about installing an outhouse and nevermind with a fire or even appliances. That they could cook like they're in a relatively wealthy but incredibly spartan home by cooking over a charcoal fire as the daughter makes unleavened bread and boiled rice. Which now leaves me wondering if such a change of concept has also lead to changes in their cooking and eating habits because it seems to me they've embarked on an adventure.
I like their house, who cares what the neighbors think. How much do you want to bet a few of them will be knocking down their old houses and putting up something more modern?
On the movable island bench they had what looked like an induction hob. How does something that needs to be hard wired work on a moving bench? Someone tell me please. Bloody genius!!
They seem like a nice couple and great family. The house isn't what i like, although i do prefer industrial, but finished industrial. Considering how cheap it was done, it's absolutely brilliant, it's classy whilst industrial.
They put their family budget first, were ready to make do and learn along the way, I hope they inspire a lot of self-builders not to go bonkers as seen time and time again on this program
The long term loss to their "savings" by NOT insulating their base floor while it would be cheap to do so was truly a case of tunnel vision! lol Course the children will change their minds on the ceilings and walls in time....Esp when the daughter hits puberty!!
With 100's of bloody awful windmills sitting off the coast I doubt one house makes much difference in terms of seaside aesthetics already ruined and actually the cladding is not unsightly at all. The pebble dash houses are not exactly a picture perfect postcard - are they? Posh - I think not. the owner is a woodworker... carpenter? Give him a few years and the place will look great - add a decent garden and they've got a winner.
The story about the ballpoint pen/pencil is not true. Pencils are not used in space stations because graphite is conductive, and the idea of conductive dust getting into switches is why even the Russians don't use them up there. I just hope their simple sloping roof design doesn't have similar unexpected consequences :)
ya cause they invented the sloped mono truss...that's been used on buildings for probably 30+ years...they must be genius home owners. First of their kind!
NASA did not spend vast sums developing the so-called "space pen." They began development of a pen, but abandoned it due to the expense. The Fisher Space Pen used today was developed by a private businessman in the U.S., who spent his own money developing the pen as a patriotic gesture. After inventing the pen, he convinced NASA to try it and subsequently began selling them to the space program. They also sell them to other peaceful space programs. Pencils were a hazard, and thus abandoned because the graphite dust and potential broken points posed a hazard to electronics, and the wood is flammable.
Who cares whether it blends in! Their home, their creativity, their budget. Naysayers can stuff their stuffy and boring traditionalist attitudes. With open joists some hanging plants would be sensational and refreshing. The kitchen is fab and that Welsh view..sweet.
So they knocked the old house down because they had no insulation in the walls or the floor but then didn’t put any in …. WHY ? Absolutely crazy I stopped watching
I'm happy they were open-minded enough to listen to reason. The plastering, the majority of the finished work on the ground floor, it all turned out beautifully. Very talented family.
For the price? This is quite possibly the best looking and best finished house on this show. I love it. That kitchen is magical.
This was a very good episode. No excessive drama, just building a wonderful home for their family. Willingness to adapt and change was fantastic.
Fantastic family, who deserve their beautiful new home. Respect!
Fabulous effort from everyone in winning Kevin over, whose criticisms were well-placed give his experience and love of architecture and quality.
It’s obvious that they aren’t building what most would like. But as someone that has designed and built his own house, they’ve done a marvelous job in controlling costs, but also listening to those with expertise.
The only thing I would add is a minimalist black wrought iron handrail on the wall by the stairs. Lovely house.
I was expecting this to end in a unfinished disaster, but wow looks great and will mature into the area beautifully.

I nearly spit out my drink when Kevin said "when its applied to the outside of insulation, it can be used to cover all manner of crap." 28:30
Such a lovely, beautiful family.. It was a big project but you don't see them stressed, we see them working together harmoniously. Thanks. Good example as a family, all hardworking and good thinkers.
I love the DIY spirit! That kitchen is a dream!

Excellent job, ground floor is incredible, I may have to steal that kitchen, excellent job!
" *I may have to steal that kitchen* " You better be quick, they live 5 miles from the center of Liverpool, someones probably already had it.
Absolutely stunning! So happy for you all 💗
True artists seeing the beauty where others fail to and making a surprisingly attractive and affordable home. Score!
What a wonderful family and beautiful house!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Haven’t finished watching but so far loving the kids’ personality and energy. Also love that the house riles up the boring locals, cool looking house so far
Kudos to all. Reminds me of the ethos embodied in the 1984 book "High-Tech: The Industrial Style and Source Book For the Home".
I wouldn't give a toss what the neighbors think about "MY House"! I live in a place where every house is exactly the same boring #CapeCod style and would love to have a home like this. They did a great job using the materials 💖
Lovely to see how they have used certain materials in a brilliant way and looks beautiful BRAVO
Excellent conclusion, did not think it would finish up so nice 😊
That kitchen! Stunning! Rosie actually looks like a friend I have also called Rosie 😊
What a wonderful family, beautiful polite children, kudos to them and their home. Congrats guys what a great place.
I love what they have done. So inspiring!
I am glad to see for a change a family, a couple who are not sold an expensive concept by Architectd, but who did things reasonably (value engineered) and who wont owe the bank a lot of money.
The finished product is amazing. The kitchen I think is inspiring.
I love the external finishing so much.
so ahead of its time. amazing job
A stunning result with a lot of effort and brave thinking. Superb
Fantastic job,very clever couple,well done
Sweet family. Phenomenal house!
Amazing achievement
Brilliant ❤, super creative. Well done. ❤
Brilliant!
Now that I seen the finished product - wow - very good.

Bluddy love it! 👍 All of it. 🧡

beautiful!❤❤❤❤
Wonderful.
Salute excellence respect the sacrifice beautiful home well built
Some of the neighbors had more than "anxiety" on their plate.
One of the most beautifl I’ve seen.
They put their family budget first, were ready to make do and learn along the way, I hope they inspire a lot of self-builders not to go bonkers as seen time and time again on this program
my question is how did Kevin get on the grass terrace????????
Que bom ter os episódios no TH-cam. Assisto do Brasil, comecei acompanhar o programa quando passava na Netflix, podiam colocar os episódios antigos.
The long term loss to their "savings" by NOT insulating their base floor while it would be cheap to do so was truly a case of tunnel vision! lol
Course the children will change their minds on the ceilings and walls in time....Esp when the daughter hits puberty!!
They can wear slippers.

Wind turbines you mean? You do know there is a climate crisis, the turbines are to be celebrated, not have silly comments made.
Great!❤
"This is Propaganda Design that takes control of young minds." Honestly the sharpest and funny from Mr Kevin
Changing their minds and having insulation was essential
Every house is the same on GD - a square box with massive windows, a flat roof with wooden slats that will "silver over time" and a sedum roof.
How satisfying must it be to make your own house? Especially when it turns out so well.
love the green roof, what sedums are used, and what would work in
TO Canada, what vision!
Madness initially, to think they didn't need insulation. Not the prettiest house, but lots of space, light and air.
Committed to achieving,if there happy that’s all that matters, very well deserved 😅😊❤
Just across the water from where I live in Wales
One of the mosts important parts in cold countries such as uk is good insulation. I'm horrified that they are skipping this.
best grand design
very Steampunk!! awesome-sauce
Beyond comment. Way beyond.
Only thing = frudge in pantry instead of in Kitchen?
Amazing home but I fear it might attract the Alderley Edge brigade
It says that there are 78 video's on this site, but I only see 10. Is there a trick or something to see the others?
Por favor, adicione legenda para tradução em português. Adoro esse programa mas não entendo nada a linguagem.

Are we ever going to see Season 2 thru 13?
Those tiles from the roof couldn't they have been recycled?
ya cause they invented the sloped mono truss...that's been used on buildings for probably 30+ years...they must be genius home owners. First of their kind!
Sometimes you just have to say "sod the neighbours "!!
So they had an old squarish building that they r turning it into a modern new squarish building......Great.

Well, I wouldn´t say "extremely nice" to scaffolding furniture.
Eyesore.
Subtitles please
They like their view. They can't see their house.
Happy they love their new house, but personally not a fan.
yes a very nice design, but what about cats and dust?
Why does it have to fit in?
Who cares whether it blends in!
Their home, their creativity, their budget. Naysayers can stuff their stuffy and boring traditionalist attitudes.

Kevin walked on the sedum!
As a builder, if a man talks about green, i lock the toilet
This NASA story about the ballpoint pen is a myth. They just purchased 400 of them from a third party for 2.39USD each.
Very kdd
😀
Ohh it doesn't match the existing area SO WHAT! Its all dull anyway.
🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
The neighbors are horrible.
So they knocked the old house down because they had no insulation in the walls or the floor but then didn’t put any in …. WHY ? Absolutely crazy I stopped watching
Later the did insulate. Watch it till end. Brilliant
Is not conformity sad .
CRAPTACULAR!
