Good Lord, I love this. Bless you all!! I am American, and probably don't have the money to visit England again. I ascribe to the theory that James Ellroy uses about Los Angelos. He says he can experience L.A . anywhere, through his imagination. I will do the same regarding England. This segment is a gem, people and project are wonderful.🙂🙂❤️❤️💯💯
Love Grand Designs and the spinoff shows in Australia and New Zealand. The courage and determination of people is worthy of applause and administration.
Here in Latin America we mostly get "Reality" shows about people who do renovations for a living in the USA. Seeing one about people who want to do their own magnificent home is a breath of fresh air!
This original house was a dream. The trials and strains on the road to the rebuild WAS fraught with soo many stresses and pitfalls. Amazing they saw this through! Is anyone else fixated on what the circumstances behind the lapsed insurance policy were? I can't stop asking that!
Don‘t know where you are watching from, but here in Germany there was one Amazon advert on a permanent loop. It was quite a relief to get a dandruff advert after a while. Love Grand Designs, but too much boring advertising in between.
So are new Norfolk reed beds being planted? I was aware that it's the best thatching material, and that thatching is a dying art, but surely these people can't be destroying the last reed beds?
In my country it's not possible for such a policy to lapse, a house like a car has to be insured. How could his policy even lapse if he makes the payments? Aren't those automated? So weird.
Baby in a hard hat area…tells you everything you need to know! And taking measures with a tape good god…now a day it’s all done digitally of course. Lastly, get your chimneys cleaned regularly as they will catch fire.
One of the last reed beds in England - Ooh I'll destroy that and put it on my roof and I'll do it without the conservation approval. The utter arrogance. Sickening.
It's beyond asinine that a homebuilder has to obey some petty bureaucrat's diktat on every single detail like whether they can use a superior thatching material to the original. These UK planning offices are like the HOA from hell.
He just went ahead and destroyed one of the last reed beds in Britain just for thatching. He's an utter arsehole. Ordinary thatching would have been more than good enough.
There's something very annoying happening while watching your videos & that is the sudden music that starts playing. Most of the video's I've watch this happens & to be honest if I wanted to listen to music I'd do that, other than that I love watching the transformations.
"Spending money they haven't got."
This should be the Grand Designs tagline.

The thatcher is a pure craftsman! The finished roof is beautiful!

There are no good American reality shows. It's all garbage.
When Kevin McCloud says, "When can I move in?" you know you've created a lovely home!
Omg the reed roof is just incredibly beautiful ❤
One of my favorite shows of all time. Thanks for sharing.
I love this. Need more renovations on grand designs like this!
You're doing God's work here uploading these early seasons!
This journey is inspirational in MANY, MANY ways!
We got frough it!...Wonderful stuff... a real home not a house!
What an amazing couple. Musician and producer, music to my heart.

Block it...easy..
It’s always amazing to me watching from the US, how people in the UK are able to borrow large sums of money without any means of repaying it
Well, they have jobs..

Reeds are a perenial crop, they can be trimmed and grow again next season
Let this be a less, and don’t let your policy lapse Lord have mercy

Thats like saying harvesting apples ruins the orchard
Why does she wear a safety helmet but not the baby?
