  • Here's a few links for my favorite credit cards. I try to check the links often, but let me know if there is a problem. If they change the offer on the card, I may need to update the link. Full disclosure, I get a few airline miles for referring a new customer. You should get the same public offer at no additional cost. Thank you very much.

    If you enjoy checking out Bangkok and other SE Asia spots, consider subscribing. I'll continue to make videos showing the streets in Bangkok and beyond. Thailand is amazing and a great place to visit, work or retire. I'll do my best to show you how to live affordably in SE Asia. Plus, enjoy some great side trips from Bangkok.

      Not me. I never went to sleep. If I get home at 3am, I often go film for a few hours. Then it's sleep during the heat of the day.

    Amazing that all MRT you can tap your Visa card , but the airport link you have to buy a coin, would be so convenient for tourists to tap their card considering they may not want to exchange at the bad rate booths at the airport, and convenient for people living here too

      Not all MRT lines work with Visa. I think the Blue does and the new Yellow. Maybe it's changed. Yes, the separate pay systems are a pain. From what I understand, if a German company builds a line, they collect the fare. The next line might be a Canadian company owned. It's a pain, but it's still nice to have the trains. Even if I have to pay the BTS, transfer to MRT and pay again, etc.. Still better than 2 hours in traffic. I just went to Sydney. You can tap Visa on the train, bus, etc... I got to Melbourne and no Visa tap. In 10 years, I'll bet most things will be cashless.

      @@MikeyInThailand I think I read the new Yellow line does too. Hopefully they all do soon. Luckily, I use the BTS 90% of the time. I just load a 1000b on the rabbit once in awhile. I wish the rabbit window took Visa. I think they do the first time you get a card, but not for re-loading. I'm not sure if MRT takes a Visa to reload. I never had that card. I just do single trips on the MRT.

    6:46 I found out that SuperRich at Phaya Thai has slightly better exchange rates than their locations at Asok BTS and the airport basement.

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Or it could have changed. If you stand in front of the exchange booth for a few hours, you'll watch the rate go up and down. It can swing from 34.1 to 1 (US) at 9am and be 34.9 at noon. Or worse, it might be 33.8 at 5pm. Usually those swings take days, but anything is possible. Luckily I have a Thai account. When it hits 37/1 I transfer $20K over. It's at 36/1 today. It's all a gamble. Might be 37/1 (or higher) soon, or it could be 34/1 in a few weeks. Either way, I still come out way ahead living in Thailand. Even if it was 31/1.

    I’ve bought a fair amount of gold jewelry in the mall that connects directly to the BTS there, nice shop on the ground floor, my wife shopped there for years.

      No shortage of gold stores in Thailand. Thai's love gold. Probably not a bad idea.

      Beer Republic is fun. Speakerbox on Soi 55 is more a dive bar. Good times. Black Cabin is a college crowd. Otto bar is heavy metal. Brown Sugar is back in Chinatown. Little bit of everything. Blues one night, jazz another

    I think the local train is the train from don muang Airport but I'm not 100% sure, i haven't used it since don muang was the international airport

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've seen the local trains out by Don Muang. I'm not sure how often it runs. Today there is a mch better option with the new Red Line. It stops near immigration and the old airport.
