"Get yourself here and bring a camera".... funnily enough that was my plan until a week ago! I had booked at the Asia Hotel, which has a walkway stright to the Ratchathewi station, very handy with a suitcase, and as you said the Airport Link is close by, handy for nipping out to Suvarnabhumi for a bit of plane spotting...... Good vid, i bet this took a bit of putting together.....
It’s been a full year now since we came back home to KPP….never left so seeing another great BKK video from your perspective is perfect on my big screen TV….feels amazing….I’ll definitely have to get back to BKK soon….Thanks Pat! 👨🏽🌾🇹🇭👍🏼
Pat, outstanding video! I just returned from my wonderful Thailand trip that started and ended in Bangkok. I wish I would have seen your video before our trip. We did get a one day pass for the BTS Green Line, but didn't realize all the sites we could have seen had we gotten off more stops. We stayed right next to the Asok station, so we were right in the middle of all the chaos. I did persuade my wife to take the Airport Rail link back to BKK and it was the best decision we could have made. The train stations are so clean and safe (from what I saw) as compared to here in the US. Can't wait to come back for a much longer stay.
Around Nana is also a close link to getting on the motorways when you need to do business outside the centre of Bangkok. With an entrance to the motorway just at Ploen Chit it makes it far easier than getting stuck in huge queues trying to get on to the motorway
At 32:10...at Udom Suk BTS station, on the street level next to 7-11 is where you can take a FREE shuttle to MEGA BANGNA SHOPPING CENTER. It runs from 8am to 11pm every day. There are 3 shuttle buses that pick up every 30 minutes. The shuttles will also take you back to Udom Suk from the mall for free.
Very interesting to watch. The video doesn't mention that Chit Lom station allows a pleasant stroll down either Soi Lang Suan or Soi Ton Son to famous Lumphini Park. On the subject of parks, I disagree that Chatuchak park ( Mor Chit station ) is good for a "Sunday afternoon stroll". It is far better in the mornings, before it gets hot. And in any case, at weekends the park is mobbed. You're better off choosing a weekday morning. At Asok station, don't forget that this is the interchange with the much more extensive and better value MRT subway system. Nana station has access to Bumrungrad hospital and is popular with those coming from far and wide for medical procedures - it is definitely not simply a 'sex tourist' area. For example, from Nana station ( and Asok station ) you can now easily walk down to the new forest park and adjoining Benjakitti Park. One of the largest and greenest recreational areas in the whole city and should not be missed if you visit. Finally, there are foreigners everywhere in Bangkok. Don't be afraid of them. Many of us try to be helpful.
True that there other things to Nana and Asok than sex tourists. But Pat's point-and I have witnessed this so many times- is that unsuspecting family oriented tourists get a hotel in this area on their two nights in BKK before heading to the islands and they end up with the idea that all Bangkok is sleaze and dirty streets. Lumpini and Benjakitti can be easily accessed staying in a hotel for example in Silom and having a completely different experience.
great video always enjoy tuning in , i plan to retire to bkk or , hua hin soon , i swear jatuchak market was bigger 20 years ago than it is now , i went round it a couple of years ago and was surprised how small it was , take it easy see you on the next one
Pat, thanks for the video. I got the train from Yaek Kor Por Aor to Bang Na this morning. The station is only a 10 minute drive from my hotel. The journey saved me both money and time. On Monday I got the SRT from Don Mueang to Bang Su and then changed to the purple line and then changed again!! After watching your video it was all very familiar. I did notice the extensive barrier’s preventing people from looking into the military installations. Keep up the good work mate!💯
So you've been exploring! Good to hear that indeed. Not really convinced as to how convenient the Don Muang Red Line station is if you have luggage. It's far enough without any bags or cases.
I remember when On Nut station was the end of the Sukhumvit line, amazing how much progress they have done during the pandemic. I will check out the entire line in March when I get back to BKK, looks exciting for sure, and a free tour. Gr8 video sir
Great video Pat. Wonderful shots of the BTS and the city. Lots of fascinating facts to boot. Although my stay in BKK will be all to brief later this month, as I travel on to Tokyo. I remember that the BTS only went as far as Mo Chit a few years ago and I got off to get to Mo Chit bus station but got lost in the process! Ekkamai is brilliant for Japanese food in that shopping centre before you hop on the bus to Pattaya! Love some of the all over ads on those BTS trains although they often cover the windows denying you of a view from inside the train. Also noted new rolling stock with very attractive front lights etc.
@Bangkok Pat Yes, Pat, the VDO was very interesting. I know that part of BKK well, especially ThongLor and Onnut. I have subscribed to your channel and will check out some of your other VDOs that look equally interesting. 🙏👍
I used to live at Bearing when the line ended at On Nut All the locals thought I was a Ajarn. It was sawadee ajarn most of the time when walking around.
Weirdly, I love that iconic Bangkok's BTS scraping sound. I did a train watching and photo/video hunting at Victory Monument Station in 2018. Too bad the officer didn't allow my tripod. Anyway, I'm sooo happy finding this channel! I love train, I love Bangkok, I love exploring new city, imagine me living there. Please keep creating videos about all neighborhoods in Bangkok.
It was an editing marathon doing this video! Good choice of hotel too, haunted but close to the station via the first ever skywalk on the BTS!
Awesome as usual! Thanks Pat!
It’s been a full year now since we came back home to KPP….never left so seeing another great BKK video from your perspective is perfect on my big screen TV….feels amazing….I’ll definitely have to get back to BKK soon….Thanks Pat! 👨🏽🌾🇹🇭👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it Craig. Cheers!
Very good video about BTS,maybe the most complete on the web.thanks for all your work and keep going 🇲🇫🙏
Love watching your videos
Another awsome one 🙏 🙏
Thank you! Cheers! 😇
This is an amazing video, thank you!
The most informative channel on Thailand love every video work
One of your best Pat living here 3 years now will wander into BKkK more next year n follow you and Garry’s recommends …..🤟
Good to hear that! Wonder if Gary has ventured to this part of the city, plenty of great food on those streets!
Great video Pat, plenty of good information, loved it.
Thanks Brian 👍
Around Nana is also a close link to getting on the motorways when you need to do business outside the centre of Bangkok. With an entrance to the motorway just at Ploen Chit it makes it far easier than getting stuck in huge queues trying to get on to the motorway
Comprehensive vlog which I enjoyed . Took more than a few days I bet.
Cheers Geoffrey, been filming it bit by bit since Dec 1st, the different hair lengths were the giveaway although I made sure I wore white!
Beautiful work , Pat !
Awesome video! Thanks, and yes, the owner of J Bar & Cafe seems very nice.
Thanks, they got a good menu and beer selection there, Paul is a nice bloke 😎
At 32:10...at Udom Suk BTS station, on the street level next to 7-11 is where you can take a FREE shuttle to MEGA BANGNA SHOPPING CENTER. It runs from 8am to 11pm every day. There are 3 shuttle buses that pick up every 30 minutes. The shuttles will also take you back to Udom Suk from the mall for free.
Thanks for another wonderful video on the BTS Skytrain.👍
Another great video with lots of useful information and visual scenery.
Thank you as always. It always amaze's me how the ultra modern can be found in amongest the old Bangkok.
Thanks, soon it may be the other way round....
Great job Mr Pat. Coffee on its way.
Thanks very much Nick.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Appreciated
Another cracker Pat. Most useful. Have been taking notes for a future visit! 😀. Airforce museum looks interesting.
Keep up the great work.
Thanks
Thank you John, glad you found it useful.
Great Shot + Story as always Pat. Thank you.
Cheers!
Great Vlog as usual 👍👍
Great vblog ,I've nearly been all the way through on Sukhumvit line and all of the Silom Line.
It's a long trip along both lines nowadays!!!
@@BangkokPat I do wish they could have one I integrated card for the BTS/MRT , but alas that seems like a distant pipe dream.
@@jimshelley8831 Very good point Jim.
Great video, I enjoyed it
Enjoyed every single minute. Thank you.
And did I hear a bit of Paul Kalkbrenner at the end there? Another slice of magic.
Love it!! Informative as usual especially for our upcoming return visit to Thailand in a few weeks. Cheers!!!
Good to hear that Michael!
Best check out my video of Chit Lom & Phloen Chit and I covered all that, I even mentioned it whilst at Phloen Chit in this video.
@@walternyc Good point.
@@BangkokPat Will check out the other videos, Pat. Thanks.
Another great video Pat.
I enjoyed moving about on the train systems.
So much more open now since I was last there in 2017!
Six years is a big gap.
It increases outwards every few years as does this city!
great video always enjoy tuning in , i plan to retire to bkk or , hua hin soon , i swear jatuchak market was bigger 20 years ago than it is now , i went round it a couple of years ago and was surprised how small it was , take it easy see you on the next one
Thanks Paul.
A video of epic proportions Pat, Bangkok is huge!
Thanks Graham, it was also an editing job of similar proportions!
A brilliant and informative video of the BTS sukumvit line. Watched testing of first section in late nineties.
Thank you for such a dedicated video, Mr. Pat
Wow. I bet that took a lot of filming.
Very interesting as usual Pat. Thanks 👍
Took me about 5wks bit by bit!
Awesome and informative video!
This is an extremely well done video and a resource for visitors and residents alike.
Thanks, was a lot of fun to make!
You are so smart . What a thoughtful video
Thanks Hector.
awesome again! I'll watch all of these videos.
Cheers David!
I remember when On Nut station was the end of the Sukhumvit line, amazing how much progress they have done during the pandemic.
I will check out the entire line in March when I get back to BKK, looks exciting for sure, and a free tour. Gr8 video sir
When the line first opened On Nut and Mo Chit were the suburbs!
Thanks, it's the longest line finally done! Silom Line was nothing compared to this.
Bravo! 👏 Did it again! - Did anyone else catch the barriers turning into EQ bars @ 2:40 ?
Can't say l did Robert!
Thanks Pat I appreciate your videos, looking forward to seeing your next one 😊
Thanks Richard.
Great video 😃🙏
Thank you! 😃
Very Nice to See all these Stations and the link for the Map. You did a Great Job Pat ! 🙏
Thanks Gert! Was a big job but I loved every minute!
Terrific VDO of the entire Sukhumvit BTS line and VERY informative ! 👍👍
Thanks Keith, glad you enjoyed that mate!
@Bangkok Pat Yes, Pat, the VDO was very interesting. I know that part of BKK well, especially ThongLor and Onnut. I have subscribed to your channel and will check out some of your other VDOs that look equally interesting. 🙏👍
Great video, thank you.
Greeting from Indonesia
Hard work. Super job, thanks.
Thanks TB.
