This cake is made with a Norwegian sponge cake, it´s filled with diplomat cream (that´s whipped cream combined with pastry cream) it has homemade raspberry inside, fruit and chocolate, and is covered in homemade marzipan!

Haha. I tried to make this - absolute disaster. Tasted delicious though. There's a bit too much cream in the dome, you have to have fairly thick sponge circles with a small radius to balance it out.

This takes me down memory lane. Always bought this during the holidays from a bakery that closed it's doors in Houston-Andre's. 💫
They look wonderful, a swedish princess cake has sometimes jam but most of the times it doesnt. No chocolate. No strawberries, Fresh whipped cream and vanilla custard is between the cake layers. Ontop marzipan coating, usually its green and then powdered sugar on top and a marzipan rose :). Being swedish i grew up with them and its my favorite cake of all time :)

A traditional Swedish Princess Cake is made with just raspberry puree and lots of cream , and green marzipan,
I like to think outside the box whenever I bake and use my taste buds while I bake and I love to use beautiful pastel colors, it inspires me.
I don’t have a degree in baking, and I am not a real chef, and being an amateur gives me the privilege to do as I please when I bake, I don’t have to follow rules, I do what I love with in my kitchen and have fun and I hope my videos inspire others.
Maybe it is not a traditional Swedish Princes Cake when it comes to the filling, but I can tell you one thing, it is so delicious and it is baked with love.

Its really cute and beautifull! But a swedish princess cake only has vanilla custard and sometimes raspberry jam as filling, and regular whipped cream on top, and it's REALLY important that the marzipan is green. The pink marzipan cake has a jam of forest berries and whipped cream and is called opera cake. Then there is the white lady, with is a cake filled withe cream and chocolate mousse and covered white marzipan.
And there is actually a mini version of these, covered with pink marzipan and usually a raspberry on top, called Pink Tits. That is a legit pastry XD

While princesses Margaretha, Märtha och Astrid's mother was a danish princess, they were born and raised as princesses of Sweden. Their father Prince Carl was one of King Oscar II of Sweden's sons. Princess Margaretha gained the title princess of Denmark when she married a danish prince. Astrid married Crown Prince Leopold of Belgium and later became queen of Belgium. She died in a car accident when she was just 29. Märtha ended up Crown Princess of Norway when she married Olav of Norway.

I think adding the fruit and chocolate made it taste more crunchy and have a kinda different flavor. Udually it's jam and vanilla cream but you changed it to a whole new level.

Honestly, everyone jus needs to chill out. So wha if it's not a traditional Swedish princess cake? It was inspired by one, hence the name. What matters is her effort and success in making the cakes. If anything, I say amazing job.

The pink ones are actually called opera cake (can also be red). Different varieties of colour often get a different name than the standard green ones.

In a traditional Prinsess tårta (Swedish Princess Cake) there isn't supposed to be chocolate or fruit. While I don't mind the fruit like strawberries or raspberries I really doubt that chocolate or banana is ideal for this type of pastry

Well we do make similar cakes it is just that they contain a vanilla cream instead of jam c:
Otherwise you have Opera cake and Silvia cake that contain Jam and looks similar, so they're still here they're just not true princess cake

As a swede I can say that there is many different recepies on what to have in a princess cake but the most normal one is to have jam and vanilla cream
