Yes been awhile since I have seen it. Great Classic movie, I remember going to see it with my riding buddies when it came out in what 72. I am going to pull out my DVD and give it a watch again. Thanks Larry.
I think this may help me out with the G4TR Kawasaki I'm working on. I'll have to pull the cover and look. It looks like the Kawasaki may do the same thing. Thanks Dale.
Hey Dale, how similar would that shifting adjustment be for the 75 DT250? Mine is shifting to first easily, but doesn’t go back past neutral. Your videos are excellent btw!
Hi there, the 75 is beyond my expertise. 73 is the latest's I have messed with. If the 75 is basically the same, it will adjust a bit different than the small enduros. I did a 72 Yamaha 250 MX build and, in that video, I did the adjustment that is probably what you have. But not sure.
Thanks for the info. Do you have any knowledge of a 64 Yamaha Trailmaster 80? Mine will shift from 2nd into 4th, but upshift fine into 3rd. We also have a 65 Yamaha Campus 60 (pretty much the same bike) and it shifts just fine. They both have a very weird shifting mechanism and I've looked at both, but can't figure out the problem.
Wow that is a blast from the past...my first yamaha was a campus 60. I never opened it so not real sure how it works. It does sound like your problem is an adjustment issue. They all have to have a way to fine tune the shift process.
hey i have a 71 ct1 and my transmission always seemed wonky, and i gear lever was slipping so i was finally able to get it running and tightened up enough and now the gear shaft coming out of the motor want to spring back in and it won’t let me shift at all
I'm sorry Layden, I don't understand, the shift shaft can't come out, it's behind the clutch, if it did move to the right, it would make a lot of noise, there is a snap ring that holds it. It's located on the left side behind the side cover and the shift lever.
Dale swapped shift shafts from a bad main bearing motor to a good one. Can't get the tangs on the shaft to center on shift drum. The original shift shaft took a lick and was bent at the end a little. Does this mean I probably have bent shift forks or an internal problem. Swapped eccentric bolt from same engine a shaft. Was missing on this engine and I gave no knowledge of its condition.
Hi David, you are checking with the transmission in 2nd, 3rd or 4th right. Do you have the spring on the eccentric positioned properly? You are adjusting the eccentric bolt and still can't center the pawl on the two pins in the shift drum. You may have to try to straighten the shift shaft if it was bent bad. I can't see how it could bend the shift forks; they are really quite durable. I think your problem is with the shift shaft and the adjustment. Not internal, but that is just the best I can say without having it in front of me. Good luck hope you figure it out. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching the channel!
If I apply pressure to the shifter to press it to the rear it will center. It just wants to hang out with the tang closer to the rear pin if no finger pressure applied. Since the shifter is taking the slack out when actuated ill center it best I can and give it a shot. Your videos have inspired and educated me greatly. I really appreciate you sharing.
Hey Reuben, not really sure what caused it, let's see if we can fix it. Is it loose in the case? If so, it's easy just get the piece out and replace it. If not loosen the jam nut, then try drilling the center and use an easy out to remove. Please be careful, try to get your drill in the middle and then try an easy out to remove, but if it doesn't come out with moderate pressure you will need to try something else, because you don't want a broken easy out, because then your problem gets worse. Try a small sharp punch and try tapping in a counterclockwise direction. As far as replacing and adjusting the new one refer to the video. Good luck
Hey Dale , its good to see a great video again. Then I'm gonna watch " on any given Sunday".

Thanks for sharing Dale. I’m sure that helps a lot of people. Can’t wait to see the body work.
Thanks buddy, I really need to get going on it. But warm is very slow getting here. Wont be long though, thanks for hanging out with me.
Another good one Dale. I wish there was adjustment built into the Bantam gear selector. It's all a bit vague!
Best wishes, Dean.
May be a way to incorporate a adjustment feature. If anyone can do it, it would be you. Thanks buddy

Wow Jack, I have not worked on Kawasakis enough to know, but it sure makes a difference on the Yamaha enduros to be able to adjust them.
great video as always dale keep up the good work
Thanks Mark, sure appreciate you hanging with me in the shop
Great video, I learned a lot!

@@montana2strokeracer okie dokie. I'll take another look at it. Their slow, but fun to ride.
This may be exactly what happened when my shifter stopped. Any idea if this will work for an HT1? May have to pull the clutch and check
Yes HT1 90 Enduro is the same proceedure

@@davidshearouse2222 David are you adjusting the eccentric bolt to try to center the shift pawls with the shift drum pins?
Hay dale I got a broken excentric screw the stud that the spring straddles how do I fix this?
It is a 1972 CT 1 175
And why did it break off is there a reason that it broke? I noticed it because my shifter was not recentering
