It came standard on my TRD Pro. I wish the picture quality were better. The GMC Canyon I replaced had a MUCH clearer picture. That being said, I discovered today that when I put my truck in 4L the front camera automatically comes on and has several very useful viewing options while showing the pitch of the truck at the same time. I'm looking forward to my next trip to the mountains to try it out!
The 360 cameras work very well for me, especially driving in a busy city and having kids in the car. That helps me to 1) alert car distance in front and behind of my car during slow traffic on the road, 2) have visibility when making turns in the city or shipping center when people keep walking and not paying attention to any cars, 3) parking in small garage/space perfectly. One time, after parking in the local shipping center, a homeless around that spot walked to me and let me know that I backed my car to the spot so perfect, it was better than all people that he saw that day. He did not know that my car had a 360 camera. When you have kids crying and talking in the car, it’s hard to pay close attention to operate car, the 360 camera helps me a lot and keep me and my kids safely. This is my 4th year having Toyota car with 360 camera. If I need to buy a new car/truck, I will buy it with 360 camera again. To me, safely is my 1st priority. Thank you.
Good morning Rob yes I have a 360 camera and I love it. Really useful when you back up with the yellow lines turning with your steering wheel when you’re backing up also ! 👍
I will admit I don't go off road but having a 4×4 in New England in the winter can really come in handy storms blow up out of no where and I've managed in the past with 2 wheel drive I feel alot more confident you never no what winter will bring up here
Rob, you’re killing me letting that fresh Tundra sit outside. I’d kick the “blue goose” to the curb and put that new ride in the barn. But wait, I understand. The Tundra is short term ownership🥲. Great video. You keep us informed! Wish my Tundra had the 360.
A suggestion; back in to your driveway, not out. Your house ect does not present the same moving object danger that the cross traffic on the street in which you reside does. Or, you could install a horseshoe driveway. I would love to have that birdseye view camera system on my Tacoma, wanna rip it out and sell it to me. I also need a passenger front door with the smart key system installed. We could swap doors. 🤔
I definitely wanted / needed the 360. I agree it should be in the other side of the screen. Only issues is the lackluster resolution. It looks like a 2015 era display , but it is better than nothing. I believe my truck in the POV animation already came matching in the Cement color.
The image quality totally sucks. There are is way better resolution on most other vehicles. It is totally unacceptable that Toyota cheaper out on this aspect of our vehicles.
As others have said, the system is standard on the Pro so, for me the decision was based on getting a Pro or not. Even though I live in the country, I find that I really enjoy and use the system. I am constantly backing up to load things into the truck and the rear/overhead views help to align the truck as I do. It is also great when I need to hook up the trailer. Finally, when I do head into the city, it gives you great situational awareness of what's around the truck.
Rob, it comes standard with the Limited. Have it on automatic and the cross traffic alert helps me a lot when backing out of a parking space in the cities parking garage when I can't see up the lane. Great tool to have.😁
I can take or leave it. But you are right Rob. The only thing I don’t get is how the birds eye view works when there is no camera on top of the truck. Can you or someone explain that sorcery on how it works.
My 2018 has a smaller screen than your 2020, but my reverse view is larger because it doesn’t share the screen with the 360 view. Personally I like that better.
21’ OR w/360. I want/need it but side and front cam resolution is bad. Back camera is good. I’ve looked to replace front camera with better resolution but can’t find one that is simple/clean install. What a waste. Screen is high resolution but cameras are poor.
Hello Rob, another day in paradise:-). Our Tacoma has back up camera along with lane departure and side warning, no 360 degree camera. What I do want is anytime front/rear camera. Also, BTW: Going to make purchase from Sparks Parts for some needed items. Have great day Rob, hi to fam :-).
I find the 360 degree view helpful when parking in my tight garage. I will say this though: I recently had an F150 Lariat rental while my Tacoma was in the shop after I got rear ended, and getting back into my Tacoma last week, I could hardly read the screen. I never realized how grainy Toyota cameras were until now. The Ford camera is damn near 4k. Not sure why Toyota cant upgrade those cameras....
@@RobMotive I'm ok with Toyota being slow to upgrade in the name of reliability. But this isn't some brand new tech that will tarnish their reputation. They need to come around....
I want a front camera. I am constantly having to get back into my truck to pull forward. Didn’t know such a thing existed and it wasn’t offered. BTW your doxie is adorable.
I installed the anytime front camera and didn’t take any shortcuts like rob and taco twonz did. Ran the switch to where the 360 camera is on these trucks. Camera quality is like 10x better than OEM and I can look at it at any speed for a cool party trick Also don’t buy the TRD pro grille because then the camera sticks out. I got mine to sit flush with the front of the grill looks way better Very worth the $600 savings! (If you do the math from tech package to adv tech package)
Can this camera be stall on 2nd gen Tacoma; the factory one has little rear view. Also, brand and type of camera and your recommendation Thanks and God Bless.
Questions: 1) Does it constantly record video and audio so that you can have evidence for traffic accidents and traffic stops? 2) Does it record in 4K so that you can easily make out faces and license plates?
Great feedback Rob. Sometimes I wish I had the front Camera on my 2nd gen. But that's not an option. Also for the back up camera, it's lacking all the sensors you guys have on third gen :(
The camera view is great for detecting obstacles but the resolution is HORRIBLE! You would think that with the amount of money we spent on these it would be at least 1080p or even 720p.
My 2021 sport has all those features you mentioned except for the 360 camera. I am actually adding an any time camera to the system. - My question for you is, having Tacoma‘s with the old stereo system and one with the new JBL, what are your thoughts on the differences in sound? I have not experienced anything but the JBL and I am happy enough with it to leave it alone. Might be the only vehicle I’ve owned then I have not updated the sound system
@@RobMotive nah, I did. I guess it’s just weird and annoying how they put it in other vehicles that aren’t even the highest trim level or less expensive vehicles. It makes no sense
360 camera view is a waste of money especially if you do not go off-roading much, how did they do it in the old days? You're from the same generation as me so at least we know how to drive for the most part properly LOL
These videos, especially this once, we must endure the pontification of a seemingly unhappy individual who just wants to complain. Myself, I’m quite pleased with my Toyota Tacoma. Maybe he should’ve bought a Yaris instead.
Quality of the camera is junk compared to any other vehicles in the market today, I have 93 vehicles on my rental fleet, even the Subarus I got with the lowest trim has better camera!

Nice to know you can order this after it leaves the factory. But I'm including in my order.
Its for sure worth the price helps out with alot of stuff. When off roading love the front camera too. I use the cameras alot
Good morning Rob yes I have a 360 camera and I love it. Really useful when you back up with the yellow lines turning with your steering wheel when you’re backing up also ! 👍
For me it’s the side view. Makes it very easy if you’re pulling up next to something low to the ground👍

Absolutely! If I lived in a winter climate I’d have all 4wd👍

There's a camera behind the rearview mirror. That combined with the mirror cameras puts together an image.👍

For sure👍👍

Good afternoon! I installed a front camera in my 2018 that did both. Have a look: th-cam.com/video/L3Jm4fmpsg0/w-d-xo.html
No I went with the anytime back up camera mod for the front of my 2017 $1700.00 I can get a pretty nice front bumper with a winch for that much money
A much more cost efficient way to go for sure👍

@@RobMotive you hid the bsm button behind the dash
I did. In hindsight, I’d have located the cam switch to the right of the steering wheel. (I didn’t see the empty slot when I installed it😬)
What’s the auto feature do on the camera in the bottom left corner do.
I don’t recall🤔

Nope, came with my Pro and I love that view

1) Does it constantly record video and audio so that you can have evidence for traffic accidents and traffic stops?
2) Does it record in 4K so that you can easily make out faces and license plates?
It does not.
@@RobMotive Thanks for the quick reply! That's unfortunate. I wonder if there is a work around hack...
Oh I’m sure there is. Of course it would probably cost a fortune 😬
can we add this after purchasing?
Not easily and it wouldn’t be cheap!
Great feedback Rob. Sometimes I wish I had the front Camera on my 2nd gen. But that's not an option. Also for the back up camera, it's lacking all the sensors you guys have on third gen :(
It does come in handy👍
Add an Anytime front camera plug and play system and compliment it with a front camera bracket from Taco garage. This will give it an OEM look.
Hey buddy, can you do a segment on warranty and check ups on the Tacoma
I’ve done videos on what’s done during service (the first anyway). Not sure what you’re looking for regarding warranty 🤔
I wanted it badly when I bought my 2020 OR model. The $5K package to get them made me not be able to.
It’s too bad we can add things a-la-cart! Too much stuff in these packages and too costly😬
Yup…times have changed for sure😐
The camera view is great for detecting obstacles but the resolution is HORRIBLE! You would think that with the amount of money we spent on these it would be at least 1080p or even 720p.
I don’t have a big problem with the resolution tbh. But, I could be better👍
Agreed.
Was that price installed or for just the hardware?
It came from the factory.

I’d say it’s in the radio. You’d have to replace that.
I’m still pissed I paid over 50 grand for my 2020 trd pro tundra and it doesn’t even come with a 360 camera. The backup camera is garbage too.
