    You're killing me Scout- I've carried an Emerson for the last few years (with the exception of the much lower profile RAT 2 with my suit on Sunday). My Emerson-only eye has been wandering and I just about bought the PM2 this week. Manix 2 just joined the list.

    Great knife. I have one in my pocket right now. I can't even notice it in there, between the clip and the lightness. One of my favorites- especially for the price.

    I was carrying a manix2 lightweight when we bumped into each other at media day. It's been my EDC knife for a few years now because of its 3oz weight and large size FFG blade. As nutnfancy said...11 out of 10.
    Someone in the comments said the lock is hard to close. I like that it's hard. That tells me it's not going to fail as far as I'm concerned. I even developed my own little technique to close it one handed. I'll make a quick video of it soon.
    Great review btw. Everyone needs to take notes. If you film a knife review you really should have cut tests in it.

    I was pleasantly surprised by the durability of the knife given that it has no liners. I thought for sure it would break under hard use but I whoop on it and have had no problems

    So, i really like the look, and light weight would be great. But it seems logical that you will give up some durability by not having liners, otherwise why have them at all. So i am wondering if there are things you wouldnt attempt with this lightweight vs a regular Manix 2. Thoughts? and thanks for the great reviews!

    I just bought a manix2 got it today and ball bearing lock is twice as hard to pull as the benchmade boost or freek is it suppose to be that hard to disengage

      I don't have a knife with wire clips- what do you like about them?

    • @TheLateBoyScout
      @TheLateBoyScout  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      J.J. Sessions The main reason I like wire clips is they're so discreet. The base of your knife may be visible, but the clip is so minimal, and non-attention getting, almost no one will notice it.

    • @drmaudio
      @drmaudio 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      J.J. Sessions That is the same reason I like them. They are discreet. I also find they keep their shape well and wear the pants a bit less (no sharp edge).

    I have many Spyderco knives. Overall I think the blade on their Manix models despite the generation are the best. I also think the Endura models are best for EDC. So if you have to buy a Spyderco those two models will satisfy you.

  • @flyguy7836
    @flyguy7836 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    also this manix 2 didn't come with the blade center, I don't know why but it bothers me when a knife is not center ,second complaint, that's it but this issue don't affect the performance of the knife ,

    Heya Scout. I have a manix ffg sprint, reg ffg, hg and the lightweight. I love the Manix series and find them incredibly ergonomic in my hand. Now, I KNOW the lightweight is a GREAT knife...I know this, yet I cant bring myself to carry it because its sooooo light it feels cheap to me (again I know it isn't) like a griptilian but with the liners removed yet. This bothers me because that's a lot of knife for the weight but.....and where is a mini manix?

    • @TheLateBoyScout
      @TheLateBoyScout  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, a mini-mani would be cool.

    three strikes I'm out you can't adjust the pivot, and spyderco knows that was dumb that's why the new s110v steel manix 2 with these frn handle you can adjust the pivot so what's up with that none of this is in your video, ,just wondering lol haha happy new year can't wait for new spyderco's too come out to play ,

    I have a question if anyone can help..which steel is better overall, BD1 like on the Manix 2 or S35 VN like on the Native 5? if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. The more specific you are the better...hardness..holding a better edge..ect..ect. Also, which would you prefer, the Native 5 LW or the Manix 2 LW? Thank you so much everyone

    • @capoc38a41
      @capoc38a41 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BD1 is for lack of better words is a budget steel whereas S35VN is considered a mainstream steel. S35 has better edge retention in my experience but is slightly harder to sharpen compared to the BD1.

    • @capoc38a41
      @capoc38a41 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To answer your question(s) I think S35VN is a better blade steel.

    I think the term "Plus Sized" is kind of out dated, I think they prefer BBK now-a-days! Thanks for the vid. I totally agree with your choice of the PM2, when I bought mine I gave my Rat-1 to Mrs. Firemano.

    I tried two of them. These knives at least for me are way to hard to close or open. The lock button should not be as hard as it is to move. I really hurt my thumb and this is trying two of them after I sent it back for the lock button getting way to hard to use. I then got my replacement samething happen. I really do not like this knife at all. Spyderco needs to fix this asap. Why would You make a knife so hard to open and close. My thumb still hurts.

    • @TheLateBoyScout
      @TheLateBoyScout  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good point. Yes, the lock spring is strong, but I think you need that to have a strong lockup, and a durable, long-lasting knife.

    • @g00fysmiley

      +Boy Doll 3.375" is legal in most states, very few require less than 3. 5 and a handful 3. Some states like mine (FL) officially have no restrictions on carry knife blade length it just has to be a folding knife, no fixed blades without a ccw (stupid i know)

    • @boydoll3934
      @boydoll3934 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might want to check into that to make sure. Many states, like New York, carrying something like this might cost you a bid.

    • @boydoll3934
      @boydoll3934 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand what you all are saying, but check the recent news. Many people in NYC are being held for carrying a 3 inch blade -- even for work purposes. I know it's crazy, but the cops here do whatever they want.
