I want one. I have always been afraid of the plastic cage. I'm not someone who abuses my knives, but they DO get worked hard. Ever have any issues?
@@HowardTDuck-tv8le I've carried the Manix 2XL for 6 yrs now. I haven't had one issue with the ball bearing lock , the performance has been flawless !
My EDC for the last 5 yrs has been the Manix 2XL. I'm a lefty so the ball bearing lock is perfect. My only want with the Manix 2xl would be a version with a Emerson deployment on the blade. A glass breaker on the bottom of the handle would be awesome too !
Manix 2 XL is a bit large from my EDC but I will say it has a long blade with thin stock so it should make an excellent slicer. Glad you like it and I'd encourage you to give the Manix 2 a shot for a more compact folder. Thanks for watching!

GPKNIVES how do you do that quick deployment with your middle finger or your thumb? I can kinda do the thumb opening but the finger opening is giving me problems. Thanks.

I carry the Manix 2XL too ! It's been my EDC for 6yrs now. By far my favorite knife of all time !
The Manix 2 seems to be more solid than the PM2. I used to be a Para Military 2 guy. Now, I seem to be leaning more towards the Manix 2. I've got four. A couple of lightweights (CPM-SPY27, CTS-BD1N), a standard G10 with S30V and an XL also with S30V.
The PM2 is pretty solid. I think the non-nested liners give the Manix 2 a bit more heft which may contribute to the more heavy-duty feel along with the broader leaf blade. I'm a M2 fan as well. Thanks for watching.

Love mine, I’m still practicing with the quick deployment at the beginning and around the 40 second mark; I wonder if it needs to loosen up with use for it to do that.
That could be the case. Some come from the factory more tight or loose so it could just require a break in period. Thanks for watching.

Its the best folder they make. Add a flytainum lock piece and you have a perfect edc knife. Where i live there is no need to hide the fact you are carring a knife . So a deep carry clip only makes it harder to remove the knife .
One of my favorite EDC folders with no mods. I've never had any issue with the polymer ball cage but there are plenty of aftermarket accessories (cages, scales, clips, etc) if customization is your game.

I just recently picked up the lightweight version. Love this knife but I cut my palm a couple of times closing it one handed. The tip is very sharp so it sliced me pretty easy. The spring mechanism is a little stiff so I really have to push it into my palm when closing with one hand thus causing the displaced skin to stick up past the base of the knife. I swung the blade down and just like that, blood. Can't figure out a better way to do it. This is definitely a two hand close for me unless I just sell it. Would like this more if it were a compression lock.
Haven't seen this particular issue but everyone is different. You could try the Sage 5 LW Compression Lock. You lose about .25 inches but it is more compact overall with S30V steel. Good ergos on it too. Thanks for watching.
@@Gpknives I do have a Sage 5 ltwt and like that as well. It's my EDC. The Manix feels really good in the hand, like a scaled up version of the Sage. That lock tho. Keep up the good work on the videos!

Hey Tyler, I'm caught between a Manix 2 lightweight and a PM2. Given that you carry a lightweight a lot I wanted to know your opinion
The Manix 2 (G10 or LW) have better ergonomics for my hand. I tried to love the PM2 but the Manix beats it out every time for me. Thanks for watching.
