    Like I said in the full review… the Sennheiser PXC 550-II’s are a very peculiar pair of ANC headphones that just don’t live up to their full potential. But strangely enough I still really enjoy them. They’re definitely not perfect for everyone. But they’re a good alternative to the Sony 1000XM3 and Bose NC 700’s depending on your needs and circumstances. So here’s how the Sennheiser PXC 550-II stack up against the Sony 1000XM3 and Bose NC 700.

      It’s not good for the video because the bows are the ones that have the true best quality with these headphones both focus less on the sound quality of music which they should’ve done better on because they sound the same as previous headphones but they focus on the microphone which is better than any other headphones

    The most reviewer does not cover ear cup replacement when they get old or broken. Sennheiser sells the replacement ear cup, in case your wondering. PXC 550 & PXC 550-II have the same ear cup replacement. They both fit.

    I have tried them all and to be honest neither of them are perfect they all have some sort of flaw but the Sennheiser's I just love more. The sound quality just takes the cake for me, sure you get better noise cancellation with the Bose and the Sony's have louder sounds but the Sennheiser's just sound more crisp and clear. Everyone will have their own opinion and quite simply everyone is different, everyone hears differently and has different head shapes, so go with the one your most comfortable with. I believe these three are very good headphones and the differences between them are very slim. For me and my choice though I feel better comfort and sound quality with the Sennheiser's.

      @@verynick I use Sennheiser's Momentum 3 everyday for work and school. If I'm boarding a plane I put on Sony XM4s. When I'm gaming I use the PX 550. But I love my Momentum 3s the best out of all of them for sound quality the only downfall is they are havier so it wears me down a bit which is why I can't use them for gaming and the ANC sucks on the Momentum 3s so I don't fly with them. Again, I use different headphones for different reasons. Unfortunately it's a lot of money spent on headphones but I love headphones and I love music.

    6:04 For Sennheiser PXC 550-II (Compatible with PXC 550 as well) you need CapTune, the older in phone app for Android (not sure for iPhone) for custom EQ. Sennheiser discontinued CapTune and replaces it with Smart Control, I got both and get the most control over the headphone EQ.

    I'm just deciding between Sony XM4 (XM3 are out of stock) and Sennheiser PXC 550 II..so I ordered both to try...its hard one to decide. Sennheiser pros: more comfortable, better touch controls. Cons: not loud enough, not the best sound.
    Sony pros: sound is perfect, NC is slightly better, you can adjust sound as much as you want (app).
    Cons: not as comfortable, price, touch controls not so accurate.
    I dont care which cable they use for charging or about microphone, because I use them at work because of loud environment.
    I kinda go for Sony because of sound and bit better NC. otherwise Sennheiser's are also very good!

    I remember the old PXC 550's could charge and play music through the microUSB to USB adapter to a PC (or to a phone if you have an adapter), and that it could have three different sources with 2 BT connections and then 1 wired at the same time. I wonder if the PXC 550 II's can do these.

    For improvements for the xm4's, I'd say sony would need to reduce weight, make more spacious ear cups, better build quality in some way, make the make the touch controls not too sensitive for the winter glitch, make it bluetooth 5.0, and allowed them to connect to 2 devices at once and better mic quality. If they could some how pull off making sound quality, noise cancelling, and battery life better, these headphones would be perfect. Nice vid btw🔥❤

    Why I dont like about this reviews is that they focus more on trending that on specs:
    Connect up to 3 devices, 2 simultaneous, 1 in the background
    Charge AND use the headphones over bluetooth
    3 ways of listening, USB, BT and 3.5mm jack
    All this doesnt matter just because is not a type-c conection? No even one of the competition is doing this, and in depth reviews clarify that the xm3 doesnt sound good, they are just way compressed and cause bass fatige.

      Hi David, I'm planning to buy the pxc 550. I've heard that the sound quality on the pxc 550 is much better than the sony's. Is that true? And is the wind noise really that terrible since none of the reviewers mentioned anything about wind noise.

    • @xXCorruptedzXx
      @xXCorruptedzXx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@bandaruvivekshresta So for the original PXC 550's I much prefer the sound quality of the 550's over the Sony's. That said, last sonys i tried were the first gen. The quality of sennheisers audio is awesome. I didn't like how the Sony's had a really closed sound stage and artificial sounding top end.
      As for the wind noise... yeah it's bad. even with the noise cancelling off its bad through the right ear cup for me. Put it this way, id pay an £100 just to reduce the wind noise and get the PXC 2nd gen. With noise cancelling on its much worse since the mics are picking it up.
      I personally find the sennheisers to beat the sonys and bose 700s when it comes to sound quality. Sony's may pick up more detail over bluetooth but the narrow soundstage and strange top end were a deal breaker for me.

    • @bandaruvivekshresta
      @bandaruvivekshresta 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the response@@xXCorruptedzXx. Considering the price difference, the wind noise shouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. I tried the xm3's and personally, I prefer a 100$ wired Audio Technica headphones over them.
      For a regular guy who doesn't listen to high-quality music, if I listen to music on Spotify or Amazon Music, will the music on my PXC still sound better than xm3's?
      And also, I remember few reviewers stating that a slight latency can be observed on pxc 550 when you play music through an iPhone(because of the codecs). How true is this?

    • @xXCorruptedzXx
      @xXCorruptedzXx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bandaruvivekshresta For a regular person I think you just become accustomed to what you have. If youre a passive listener and not looking for every bit of the detail then it's hard to go wrong. In this case, the Sony's would likely be more 'fun' to listen to, especially if you're a bass head. I'm not sure about the latency as I don't have an iPhone but I've never had a problem with latency on android. If you use the underground for regular travel then the PXC II's would probably be a good shout for the wind noise, or generally if where you live has windy weather, if not, then you'll be absolutely fine without it.
      You'll only notice a big jump in sound clarity and detail if you use high resolution files i.e. the Flac format or Wav. Streaming loses a lot of detail so the 1st gen PXC's should be more than adequate. That said, one reviewer said, if using an iPhone, you'll want the second gen because the codec improvements are significant for iPhone users in terms of sound quality.
      I think for £299 is too much for the PXC II's in terms of the technology that the Sony's offer. I used the sennheiser outlook store and essentially got a new pair with the full warranty for about £80 less than retail, so that could also be an option as they have both the new and old versions on it at discounted prices.
      Also if you prefer the audio technicas, then it sounds like you'd much prefer the Sennheisers over the Sony's :)

    Sennheiser seems to hit a lot of the big ones with the PX-550II's IMO... Comfort, Light Weight, Sound Quality, Bluetooth 5.0, Multi-device pairing, and ANC that gives the leaders a run for their money. For me these features are more important than USB-C or Ambient Mode. My only real concern with the PX-550II's is the questionable build quality, but I guess that's the trade off for the lighter weight.

    • @ranKhdcu
      @ranKhdcu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The plastic body is a Senni- thing. That’s the reason they are as lightweight as they are and it’s quality plastic and not some cheap china- plastic. The price they have comes from the superb sound they have and the overall pretty good build quality, although it’s still plastic, but I’m ok with it, sound and weight are key factors for headphones imo

    Great video. I guess it’s true that we all hear differently. I recently compared the Sony and the Bose Headphones at Best Buy. I just couldn’t get past the toy like plastic on the Sony’s and then the actual sound was not even close to the sound quality of the Bose. Thanks, I know you’re a Sony fan and I really tried to give them a chance but again the sound and the cheap plastic sent me to the Bose. Looking forward to checking out the Sennheiser.
    Thanks again

      Christopher Woo Thanks, I’m also wanting to check out the Momentum 3 Wireless. I’m a Sennheiser fan and have several of their Headphones. I’m always surprised at people preferring Sony’s over the others as I’m just not hearing a a $300. Headphone when I listen to them. I wouldn’t buy the Sony’s if they were $100.

      Sweetness I did the same thing. Tried the Bose and the Sony’s at Best Buy and didn’t really hear a big difference in the ANC so I bought the Bose NC 700’s for being able to connect to 2 devices. Then I found out they had programmed them to auto shut off in 10 minutes with out any movement so I returned them. They now have fixed this issue in the firmware. But I didn’t think they went loud enough. I really liked the feature of being able to connect 2 devices at the same time. So I just got $20 bucks off of the Sennheiser PXC 550-ii’s so I am hoping they will be louder like the Sony’s. I’ll let everyone know after I get them this week! I know they can do firmware upgrades on this new PXC 550-ii’s so I am not worried about them making improvements over time, like their equalizer. If they don’t go loud enough I’ll probably have to go with the Sony’s. But they are my last choice. Not my first like so many think. I really wish we could find some rumors of the XM4’s coming out. But no luck. My ears must be on the larger size and have an earring on the side on one ear and the Sennheiser and Sony’s do seem to be the best chalice for fit. The Bose NC 700’s were not that comfy for the week I owned them. At least for the price! My 2 cents.

    • @Chris09978
      @Chris09978 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Harla Wood you’ll not have any discomfort when wearing the pxc 550 2 at all and they do get really loud, because I had the first gen of the 550s and there pretty loud so you won’t have to turn up the volume levels to damage your ears

    Dear Gymcaddy, I need to say I trusted your reviews but you missled me. After trying all headsets and dissapointed by all of them due to unbelievable shortcomings.. i found the senns FAR better than the sony xm4 and Bose 700 and Bose etc.. I found the ANC to be really good.. comfort impressive.. dual BT connection perfectly smooth running.. not a single glitch. Sound impressively good.. this is unlike the Sony and the Bose that have unbelievable amount of flaws.. poor comfort.. unable to make the dual connections without glitches.. poor call quality ( Sony) etc..

      I have a question if you could answer. How much different is the comfort between the Bose 700 and the Sennheiser PXC II for the ear cups (like which one is more softer and which one is more harder)? If the Sennheiser is better or at least close to the Bose, I’ll be picking them up straight away as they’re on sale for $240.

    The Sennheiser's are only $200 now. The Sony's not having Multipoint capability is definitely a deal breaker for me. Simultaneous Tablet and Phone connection are a must have. Is that the charge port on the top of one side of the Sony headphones? Stupid design if you ever get caught in the rain.

    Stop your bias towards Sony! Be neutral when you have a channel to review stuff! Where did you get the feel that Sennheiser is of cheap build compared to others here? The others look a bit fancy, but when you use them in the long run, you will realize that the Sennheiser has a better build quality and they last longer! Not to mention the amazing customer support!!
