    In case I didn't mention it in the video, these also have multi-pairing. You can connect to two phones, or your phone or laptop, or any 2 devices at the same time. This is my FAVORITE feature because I love to listen to music on my phone while I work, but sometimes I need to watch videos. Instead of disconnecting and reconnecting, or changing headphones, I just press play on my laptop and the headphones automatically switch over. Many headphones do this, but I still really love this feature!

      My favourite feature too. In fact Sony's mx1003 missing this feature and is now being supported in mx 1004. Also support for aptx and apt low latency codec's is a plus which is again not supported by Sony's mx 1003

      Nice review HOWEVER it is fundamentally flawed....the fact you did not use the correct Sennheiser app means you have not experienced the best out of these headphones, every TH-cam review is the same. If you look on the offical Sennheiser website it states adjust the EQ on CapTune app, this is the offical Sennheiser app and has a fully functional EQ. If you think they sound good on those presets, wait until you adjust it to suit. My EQ is set kind of like a U, basically I upped the highs and lows and they are the best sounding earphones I've ever heard, blows my bose qcii out the water, it's not even close.

    The aux cable included in the box doesn't have an in-line mic, which is needed, because the microphones in the headphones themselves are bluetooth only, and do not passthrough to the aux cable. I called up Sennheiser support and they sent me an aux cable with in-line mic, free of charge. Strange that that's not the default out of the box, but great that they sent it to me for free.

      Update: Sennheiser singapore refused to provide the aux cable with in-line mic. They said they don’t have cable to send free of charge, but they have one for me to buy, it’s about $39. Very disappointed with Sennheiser Singapore’s customer service.

    • @motownazn
      @motownazn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@noninontje4606 hey sorry, just seeing this now. What I had told them was that it didn’t make sense for them to provide the headset without the in-line microphone, because it’s misleading and it’s confusing, considering that the device should be capable of headset functionality when plugged in directly. They should at least change the documentation on their website if that is going to be the case. If you wanted to buy a Bluetooth only headset you would have tried to buy a different model. See if you can say that to them in a polite way and let me know if that changes anything?

    Reason why the AUX cable doesn't do mic, is because it's a combined stereo/mic port. You'd need an adapter that would split the signal to allow you to plugin to the mic as well as the headphone jack on your computer.

    I just bought them. I have seen plenty reviews. But your review has been objective and driven by the logic of what the brand aimed with this product. Some of them complaint about a cheap plastic look, but for them to be light your need a material to achieve this. Thanks for making me feel happy about my choice and after spending a good amount.

    Side note. As a train operator I would ask you to NOT walk near tracks with or without headphones, it's dangerous and annoying. We literally have to report people trespassing and it becomes a whole thing where the dispatcher now has to contact every single train in the area to warn them that there is someone where they are not supposed to be and even slow down travel making us fall behind schedule. REGARDING EQ/ADJUSTMENT: After trying many many music player apps that just didn't 'Cut it', I then came across an app (for Android) called 'PowerAmp' and.... IT IS A 'Gem', a FANTASTIC app! MANY features including customisable EQ/Graphic Equaliser settings from the standard 5 bands, to your choice up to 32! Crossfade, Gain, Effects, visualisations, play settings, MANY skins, It IS a POWERFUL app. I use it primarily for locally stored music on my phone, but, it will deal with streams you name it, supports loads of formats and bit rates, and much more! With it, I have managed to finely tune the sound for my headphones (Oh, and you can save each of your 'Tailored EQ settings' for whatever speaker/headphones etc 'Listening device' you have connected either BT or Wired (which is nice)). IF you are a music lover (and have an Android device), and want your choice of music to sound the way YOU want, then give it a try, and after your free trial, buying the unlocker key to 'Keep it', ISN'T that expensive either, what, $5ish... I've used it for YEARS and it's been faultless. Look online, it's STILL pretty much THE best audio player out there... All the best you fellow 'Audiophiles' !! 👍 😎🇬🇧

    I just ordered the Sony XM4 from the black friday sale, then had a chance to do an A-B test in the shop with the PXC 550-ii. I quickly cancelled the Sony's and bought these instead. I found the 550-ii's a lot clearer and detailed with a better sound stage, and the Sony's to be more muffled and muddy sounding in the mid range with an exaggerated base. Sound quality comes first, then all the features etc to be a distant second priority.

    So I have had these now for about 3 years. So much use out of them, couldn't be happier. BUT they're finally starting to wear down. I'm wondering, I don't really just want to buy these again - if you even can still anymore - but I really want to know what is considered the natural successor to these pxc 550s from the last year or so? They're the best headphones I've ever had, and I would genuinely love to get some new out of the same series, just with some slight improvements.

  • @michaelnoble2678
    @michaelnoble2678 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have just bought a pair of the pxc 550ii headphones. These headphones rely on a 'reed switch' to turn these on. This fancy switch uses a little magnet to control the on off switch that comes into action when you rotate the ear cuos - which turns the headphones on/off. Unfurtunately this little magnet fell out of mine. I am still waiting to hear back from sennheiser as to why this would happen and what is meant to kkep this magnet in place.
    has anyone else had this issue?

  • @BoonkiCoC14
    @BoonkiCoC14 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Incase someone wants to buy these. The only good thing about these headphones is the comfort. I can easily wear them on for hours, if it gets uncomfortable just move them around a little bit and you should be good for couple of hours, repeat again if it gets uncomfortable. However, the ANC is bad. It's horrible actually. The first week i believe, it was great it blocked most noises but after that first week the quality has been going down, after a month i could barely tell if the anc is on or off.
    Best thing about these is the comfort and that's it.

    I’ve had these headphones for 3 years and I never use them. The on/off right cup twist feature is an inconvenience. Half the time I twist it off and put it down, only to discover it got turned back on from the movements somehow, and burnt off all the battery. I need a simple physical off switch. Same goes for volume controls - the gestures feel inconvenient and inaccurate. I paid $500 Australian dollars for them back then, and they weren’t worth it. These days I just plug them into an electric guitar, and never take them outside.

    I just got a pair of these on sale at Best Buy (approximately 40% off list price) to replace an older pair of PXC 550 originals which needs new ear pads & has some other issues (though still functional). Within 2 days of use, right channel became suddenly very quiet (now almost silent). After some research, I found this appears to be a frequent problem with this version and some other Sennheiser Bluetooth headphones (I never experienced channel problems with my originals.). So, I’m now deliberating whether to return for refund or exchange and look for replacement ear pads for my old ones. I don’t want to get exchange for another pair if they’re going to ultimately flake again in one of the channel. Not sure what they changed to make them predisposed to having a channel issue. Disappointing.

    1 year user here. I generally agree with the review. The build quality, mechanics, comfort, audio and control is very good. I also would like to have transparency mode + music option as you mentioned.
    The smart pause just doesnt work as mentioned. It looks like that the smartpause sensor is in right ear but for many users a slight movement of the headphones / head will trigger autopause so its annoying and you will turn it off soon. If the feature would work as advertised I would be very happy.
    When using the headphones with Phone only, you will be 99% happy. When you connect to PC you will be constantly wraping your head around some annonying audio issues. When microphone is being used wirelessly it uses different codec that has low quality audio which is OK for calls but not for games. Plugging cable is option but there are just so many audio options on PC that you will be always switching and sometimes some app/games happen to block or not use the correct microphone channel. I think this is not solely the PXC550 model problem. Maybe the audio handling and bluetooth protocols are just not good enough at this moment. I hope this will change in future but now it is really a pain to use these with PC.
    The smartcontrol app is really not the hgihest quality on the market. It has very limited settings overally and also the battery level is sometimes off there.

      So your audio issues stem from trying to use the mic for different programs not actual sound right?

    • @fghsgh
      @fghsgh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You actually can have the transparency mode on while listening to music! If you turn on transparency mode and then unpause your music quickly afterwards, transparency mode will sometimes stay on. Alternatively, you can get some noise generator app that has its own volume control, set it to 0%, and keep it always playing. Then you can unpause and it will not turn off transparency mode.
      And @@Stiffgenie, no, they only support mono audio with the microphone enabled. Over bluetooth, that is. With USB it's still stereo, but also quite a bit lower quality.

      You can use transparency mode with music! It's a little finnicky and probably not an intended feature, but if you enable transparency (pausing the music) and then unpause quickly, sometimes it will not turn off transparency. Alternatively, you can download a noise generator app that has its own volume setting, set it to 0%, and leave it always running. Then you can pause and unpause music without affecting transparency mode. Turning on/off transparency mode will still pause/unpause music, but not the other way around.

    QUICK TIP... IF you are worried about the Micro USB port getting worn/damaged with use... Buy one of those Magnetic connector cables (basically there is a small Micro USB plug connected to a small round magnetic coupler, and the cable that comes with it has an end that 'Snaps' to it - various lengths can be bought, braided as well for durability, with whatever at the other end (usually a USB A)). Then, all you do is plug in the small Micro USB end into your headphones and LEAVE IT IN THERE, and then when you need to charge the headphones (or whatever device), you just 'Snap' the cable to it and it'll charge as normal. They're cheap to buy, and come in many forms, Micro USB/USB C/Lightning etc etc... I bought a few of these, and sometimes just use the one cable for multiple devices - Phone, BT speaker/Vape device/Headphones etc etc.. It JUST WORKS... And, it saves damage to the small USB ports on these devices. Trip over a cable, NO DAMAGE, NO devices go flying everywhere. It seems strange people don't use these magnetic charge cables more 🤔, and... These cables CAN deal with Quick Chargers too (my Moto G9 Plus charges at 30W easily with this cable)... 👌 😎🇬🇧

Alternatively, you can download a noise generator app that has its own volume setting, set it to 0%, and leave it always running. Then you can pause and unpause music without affecting transparency mode. Turning on/off transparency mode will still pause/unpause music, but not the other way around.
