I absolutely love this bike. Tremi system will be here in a few days. Belly pan ships on the 9th. Coming off a 97 SRAD750 and 05 K1. The power delivery is wonderful. The quickshifter felt un-natural at first, especially the down shift. The up shifts blow me away how crisp and fast it is. I’ve never felt so confident and comfortable in the corners, the electronic suite is amazing. What trellis fame ? Times change, get over it. The 821 and the 1200 barely have a trellis frame anyway and have been getting smaller over the years. The 890r is as equally ugly in my eyes. But isn’t that what the “Monster” is all about 😂
@The Power Moves it does get hot on lights, my test bike was getting up to 210 fahrenheits on dash, it was about 77 outside. You do feel the heat coming out from the engine.
As the owner of a Monster 797... I'm ready for the 950. Lots of people complaining about the styling, etc.. all people who wouldn't have purchased one anyway.
Just bought one. It was between this and the Supersport 950 S. It was as you said, didn't LOOK special to me, until I rode a demo and it was frankly perfect for what I wanted. Lightweight, responsive, felt "alive", and perfect as a commuter with occasional weekend track/corner carving duty. Bought it with the Termignoni race exhaust too, because it sounded kinda weak thanks to Euro5.
Great review, but it looks like the worst new mid sized bike I've seen since the KTM Duke 790. Looks similar to the Benelli 500 Leoncino, except they look better than this Monster does.. When you have to convince the audience it's sporty, by saying "It's sportier than it looks" you know it's a hard sell..
Your style of talking is better than that if at least the last five prime ministers. But I hope you retain your current job, as in my opinion you give by far the best reviews. And having recently lost a Monster 796, which I loved, to theft, I cannot wait to upgrade to this bike, the changes to which agree with me. Audi ownership of Ducati is no bad thing but is likely to slightly lessen the character of this superb Italian marque.
The fuel tank is tiny, there’s enough space to hold an alleged 14-litres but its dimensions fit with the rest of the bike, keeping the bike light enough for some sporty handling while still returning almost 50mpg. That would result in a theoretical tank range to empty of 150-miles. Not massive but the compromise of keeping the weight down is worth it.

Yeah, no, I'll pass thanks ! It looks like a superbike on stilts with the fairing ripped off ! It looks very uncomfortable and awkward to ride and lacks any trace of character that the Monster range had in bucket loads ! Very sad...i own a monster myself...this one is a very confused bike...it just did'nt know to be either a monster or a street fighter...thats a pity...coz the monster saved Ducati...then this one could screw everything up...
I definitely agree on the colour. You never know, there might be an S or even an R to follow?! Would be interesting to hear the full Termignoni system on it to see if that livened it up a little.

I lived down a country lane like that all my childhood and I can tell you the way
some people barrel round tight corners like that would see you and the Ducati wiped out !
Glad I got a Monster with a trellis frame before they discontinued it. I guess this is my last Monster. The design department needs to be fired. Might as well buy a CB1000R or a Tuono.
Tuono
I love the detail Ducati puts into their mirrors.
shame they didn't put same effort in the rest of the bike lol.
Never buying a bike without cruise control.
The all new ducati SV650
Shame they stopped the 1200
Yeah, no, I'll pass thanks !
It looks like a superbike on stilts with the fairing ripped off !
It looks very uncomfortable and awkward to ride and lacks any trace of character that the Monster range had in bucket loads ! Styling wise it looks like it's a parts bin special or a half race bike half adventure bike mash up and not even a Ducati soundtrack could make me slightly interested !
The trellis frame is for the Monster what round back lights are for a Ferrari: such a design quew that you don't mess with it
it's 11 degree engine
looks like a brutale X mt07
I dont like this kind of rear signal
Oohhh no... what did they do to the monster!!! ??? Soo sad
Sounds like Euro 5 completely killed the engine sound. :( The styling could be an-other Japanese bike really. Hmm.
Nice Yamaha MT.
Very sad...i own a monster myself...this one is a very confused bike...it just did'nt know to be either a monster or a street fighter...thats a pity...coz the monster saved Ducati...then this one could screw everything up...
My god it’s ugly
And still no cruise control
for 13k+I rather buy the stunning Kawasaki Z900RS ,BMWR9T nothing wrong with current monster except uninspired styling and price.
I’m sure it rides beautifully, but all the black looks like a pastic-y 125cc… also sounds like one. Also the headlight is horrible.
Amazing bike, I own one
heres how you spot a kinky editor, the bike's red but no , lets make it orange for the intro.
I need to get the European turning indicators ASAP. The U.S. versions are making my life difficult. :o)
Looks like an MV Agusta more than a Ducati
Uh oh! Doesn't even look like a Ducati. Designed in China?
It looks like a Keeway RKF 125 - a fine look for a £3K chinese learner bike. Not so much for an italian Monster.
Next step, put 2 more cilinders to get more power. So sad.
Nice looking bike would look better with an all matter black theme but it sounds rubbish not like the famous desmo sound.
I definitely agree on the colour. You never know, there might be an S or even an R to follow?! Would be interesting to hear the full Termignoni system on it to see if that livened it up a little.
I think they do a matt black version as well as a grey one.
New monster is a joke stop lying people
Looks like a Japanese bike ... not a Ducati :(
Same looks like a MT07 or a KTM, doesn't look like a Monster anymore.
A bike over £10k don’t even offer adjustable front forks and full adjustable rear shock, sorry, that’s not acceptable. Every other bikes in the same category are much better equipped than this monster, and ironically have more characters in their styling. This generation of monster just lose its way in my honest opinion.
