    I'd pick an 890 Duke R on any day.

      Do you already own the 890 Duke R? In all honesty, that is probably this bikes closest competitor, but on the road at least, this (in my opinion) just felt a bit more classy, in both the engine and chassis. The electronics of both bikes are very good, so it makes it tough to pick between the two.

      Street Triple 765RS for me

      @@afletra I think the new one with the revised geometry is going to give the Duc and the KTM a run for their money.

      @@visordown Yeah the KTM feels like a cheap plastic toy. Horrible switchgear, terrible finish. Unfortunate because it is really good fun.

      @@yumpbalump I never own any KTM big bike, but I have an RC390 for about a year, and yeah, the build quality is kinda low. despite the awesome-torquey engine and the fun it gives, I can't help but compare the build quality with the japs. even something as simple as the fuel cap is kinda poor in terms of looks and paint.
      I thought the bigger bike like duke 890 gonna have a better quality. but reading your comment makes me realize it's just the same 😅

    Seems like forever since I’ve came across an old school video review, with proper edits, soundtrack and knowledgeable insight from someone who obviously knows the industry.

    Ive had my ‘22 Hyper SP for 18months and it feels like this Monster SP is really a Hyper for vertically challenged and smaller people with reduced weight and lower ride height with the same bonkers ride a Hyper. I need to test one

    • @visordown
      @visordown  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's got the playful demeanour of the Hypermotard, and does love a wheelie like the Hyper does! But it is slightly easier to ride on all fronts. I've tried the Hyper a few times, and you're right, it's a lofty old bike for a shorty like me!

      Just go test ride a 1290 superduke and be a man already.

      @@joshstafford4410 It really needs a flash/remap to sort out 2nd/3rd gear on/off throttle in/out of corners.. just felt it unsettles the bike - just a typical euro5 lean restriction

    Put 700 miles on my SP. Just had the break in maintenance and had the termi race system/tune installed. Thing is AMAZING!

    I still think the new street triple rs, with the optional cruise, is more palatable….for me. Love it in red. Still, for Ducati fans, this looks very nice. Great review as always T. 👍🤪🇨🇦

    Nice looking bike,

    Lovely bike and a lot better looking than the standard (new) Monster. But I'm a bit concerned about how good it would be on the dreadful roads we have in the UK. Maybe my Multi 950S is still a better bet.

    • @visordown
      @visordown  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      to be truthful it is fairly firmly set up, but only when you compare it to some of the other nakeds on the market - MT-09, Street Triple and so on. It's not sportsbike firm, but getting there. As I said in the review, the suspension will allow you to dial out some of that, but at the expense of handling dynamics - It's a balancing act I guess.

    I was considering this bike, but its so overpriced compared to the 890 duke r here in Norway. About 4500 £ more for less bike than the KTM 💀. So I ordered the KTM :))

    • @visordown
      @visordown  ปีที่แล้ว

      £4,500 is a hefty chunk of change! It's hard to ignore numbers like that! Over here the OTR price shows a gap of £2,300, slightly more palatable for some I'm sure. What is costing you more in Norway, import taxes?

    It is sad they ditched the Trellis frame, otherwise I would have sold my Monster 1000ie and bought one in a pinch.... This new SP does not have the soul anymore....

    Why is the seat height so, adventure bike like, high? It's way over-priced for what it is. All that plastic around the engine is very off putting. MT 09 anybody?

    • @yumpbalump
      @yumpbalump ปีที่แล้ว

      All that plastic is due to Euro 5 requirements, including noise. If they can insulate the timing belt and valvetrain noise, they can make the exhaust a bit louder and still come in under the overall requirement.
      I assume that plastic also helps address a bit of the heat complaints with L twin Ducatis.
      I'm not saying the plastic is pretty, but there are at least some upsides, given modern regulations.
