      They don't call it the sweet science for nothing. Unlike MMA, boxing is enormously complex and subtle. Decommissioning a man with just your gloved fists while keeping that from happening to you is the toughest thing in sport to do. Boxing is also the most dangerous sport of them all (over 500 people have died in the ring since the modern era of boxing, the most recent death occurring this year in Europe). If you don't know what you're doing you literally could lose your life! The danger, the courage it takes to climb thru those ropes, and the grueling training and skill it takes to best an opponent within the confines of the rules is what makes boxing such an interesting spectator sport.

    • @therealsyxx
      @therealsyxx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@ltravail I agree that's why boxing is 1st in my life..but mma fighters are real fighters. Because they don't do what boxers of this day and age do. They see a fighter with a belt and they fight. U never hear them say ohhh he never fought anybody ill fight this easy fight instead. Bullshit. Boxers are avoiding dangerous fighters. And claiming they aren't ready. No nigga u not ready.

    • @ltravail
      @ltravail 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@therealsyxx Yes MMA are real fighters. I just think boxing is more complex and subtle, and takes more work to master because you're constrained by specific rules and techniques and forms (e.g.,you can only use your gloved fists). MMA requires some level of competence in a combination of combat sports - brawling, ju jujitsu, boxing, wrestling, etc. But there is no need to master every or any one of those elements to be successful. It's free style fighting. A boxer or a wrestler has to master all the intricacies and subtleties of the sport to be successful. Boxing is the only sport where the ultimate objective is to almost literally kill your opponent. That's why it's also the most dangerous sport of all, as evidenced by the number of boxers who have actually been killed in the ring over its history. Every time a boxer climbs thru those ropes he's putting his life on the line. The higher you go, the more dangerous it becomes.

    • @SM-cq1mm
      @SM-cq1mm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Honestly, that's really true, I predict what happens in the next 5 seconds quite well (not in fights but in general life, don't have much experience yet) and then I get told "damn your reaction time" but the moment I can't predict what's gonna happen, I can't react at all and everything just falls down like a stack of cards

    • @pedropayapa2963
      @pedropayapa2963 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Unless you're in survival mode. You know those moments when your brain sensed youre in a life or death situation and everything seems like they were moving in slow motion, that's because you're brain was on overdrive. Senses were superhuman-like in sharpness, reflexes were pumped with adrenaline. You'll see that the brain dont need to predict when everything else is so clear and so slow for you to see and react upon. Yeah ghandi is smart, but NO MAN KNOWS ALL. Especially me, so if you think I'm wrong, please do the correction.

      I might add, if floyds hands were stronger, he woulsnt have the bait and counter style he has, floyd can maybe land 50-100 punches a fight, that includes parrying n blocking, floyd probabaly isnt the best example of sweet science due to his lack of wanting to engage and always on the back pedal, most would say he lost to paquaio....

    It wasn’t until I first started in my Muay Thai gym sparring where I learned techniques like these
    Things like hand control and doubling up on strikes are what you learn when you actually go to the gym and start sparring
    Like another commenter said, invaluable lesson here something I only learned from training, priceless for sure !

    Reason why I love Kali and Silat. These are covered in the system. Boxing/ Kickboxing added with ground games is a complete fighter. No flashy and wasted movements. The only nemesis is one's ability to actually train and have the ethics. Some might have different take and opinions but that's ok. I'm not talking about the sports aspect in the art. But to actually be a fighter!!! Love the demo! 🍻🤘🏼

    Great Video, great teacher, would be nice if the community would realize that he teaches also concepts of wing chun (no the system is not perfect, yes i am training a lot of styles) and there is value to chi sao techniques, you see it all over the scene of boxing and mma trapping, blocking, controlling and even redirecting arms.

    The high guard is also pretty blinding, making low blows even harder to catch... Great Vid Bro, u gave some food for thought. Keep it up

    This is something my first coach taught me and at the time I didn’t even realise how advanced a technique it was, it’s just something we always worked into our infighting.
    Something of a similar concept is actually punching the back of their arm, first because over time it will weaken it, but also because if you hit them hard enough, it should expose the kidneys/liver depending what side you’re hitting. This is a little easier to follow than just grabbing and pulling the arm bc it’s essentially just beating on the arm, but ofc you should practice both.

    amazing explaination. I've been doing alot of these types of things (moving their guards) during in-fighting lately and all i can say is it really makes people not want to go to the ropes with you.

    Try this in sparring. It ain't easy. You see Loma using the pull-guard-hook technique, but other boxers don't because it's dangerous. But yea, theoretical good technique.
