Why is Holydramon bad though?
I used to kinda be on the Ophanimon side of the spectrum because I liked how the angel theme stayed in tact, but one thing I'll credit the reboot for is how it actually pulled me in for holydramon. Seeing her attacks and just combat on here really got me to respect her just as equally as Ophanimon now. ♥

It is really cool when they acknowledged the existence of the priest mode. This reminded me of when we saw Kimeramon during the formation of Millenniummon. They didn't even mention it's name but if you know enough about the series, you can notice and enjoy those details.
And well, I think they won't be able to evolve to their regular megas at some point and this somehow will bring Omegamon Alter-S to the game.
I imagine the series is interpreting Priest Mode as Angemon's usual Perfect, with the current HolyAngemon being a result of merging with Devimon.

I love how devimon, appears to be rooting for the chosen children at this point. I felt that he feels, "If the world is going to end, then I don't care about being right, about not needing humans, all I care about now: is survival."
The mega evolution debuts where awesome too, my favorite is still the metalgarurumon digivolution sequence, though.
I at first felt this episode was rushing fast but the added lore, seeing Ophanimon and Seraphimon, and the threat on the kids dying in the tree before then... This episode's animation wasn't bad either

As a long time fan of the Holy Digimon, this series has gone above and beyond my expectations when it comes to them. The evolution sequences, the nod to HolyAngemon Priest Mode, Ophanimon being epic! Honestly couldn't have asked for more.
And Seraphimon was useful for a change
This episode is a reminder why I was able to wait for everything to culminate throughtout this entire reboot series. I felt some of the actions and story points are starting to come together but we still have two more episodes left to where it will come to a head on how this series will end. As for the answer to the crest mystery, I expected that to be the answer since digimon has had the theme of the expereinces being the answer for a long time in both games and the anime. I don't see how they could have come up with a better answer for that.
GREAT EPISODE. In spite of the fact that we only have a few to go, it still managed to set the stage for the final battle to come.
Ghoulmon having been revealed all the way back in Episode 5 was awesome to finally see in the flesh. I don't think a lot of people realised how significant he was until the reveal that Ghoulmon is in fact the result of all the Soundbirdmon coming together. This would imply that in terms of evolution, Soundbirdmon is the pre-evolution to Ghoulmon.
I reallhy liked the dream sequence. The way Devimon speaks to TK and Patamon, it seems like he wants them to be victorious and to finally prove him wrong. It's a great development given we haven't seen Devimon since the MagnaAngemon debut episode.
It was so cool seeing Rockmon, the wireframe digimon that has only ever appeared in a few digimon games actually make its first anime appearance. Again, the fact this anime as you pointed out keeps on bringing in digimon that have only ever appeared in the other media like the games (i.e. Reapermon/Gokumon being another example) makes this reboot just that lil bit more special, I agree.
I do like the answer to the crests. It's like that joke you'll hear a lot where: "Maybe the purpose of the journey wasn't the journey itself but the friends we made along the way.", that's what it sort of reminds me of. It was because of what the kids brought to the digital world, and by befriending the digimon along the way, the crests were able to activate as each Digidestined represents a crest needed to save the digital world.
Gotta give credit to the animators for arguably some of the best evolution sequences this show has had outside of Wargreymon, MetalGarurumon and CresGarurumon. The evolution to Seraphimon with the MagnaAngemon Priest Mode in the evolution was an amazing callout to the manga. Also Ophanimon's evolution was so nice too. Then watching these celestial angels finally unleashed and go to town and brutally decimate Ghoulmon was so satisfying. Plus they were clearly given a nice bit of budget too for their fight so a big plus there in my books.
And now the stage is set, the kids still have to deal with Argomon next episode as we see in the preview but also we now finally see the big bad Negamon has finally hatched. I am hoping that we finally get the answer to the mystery surrounding this final enemy. Why does he exist? What is his purpose?
Can't wait for the next episode.

@@thedigiknow I didn't expect it, it was a great development. Especially as we know that Devimon is Angemon's evil side manifested. I had hoped we would get a resolution to this for when he finally became Seraphimon and we did in a way, so props to the writers it was awesome.
I really like how the people behind the Reboot have bought in references to not just past Digimon anime but the Card games and video games and also Digimon manga as well.

Leomon is likely to be a noble sacrifice that pushes the 'final' evolution intonthe form that defeats the great catastrophe.
For me, the show is heavily beased on nostalgia (seeing the angels mega is like an early Christmas present, seriously). I don't think that new watchers are as hyped for the finale. But for my 30+ self, that is kind of awesome? I was happily surprised by Devimon and how his relationship with Angemon and Takeru progressed. Then, the lore dump was a bit rushed, but honestly. I feel like it all finally makes sense. And that is soooo satysfying. I also like the explanation for the crests - not too deep, kind of obvious, but it satisfied me. I can't wait for the finale. Because I loved the first episodes and I have great hopes for the closure as well.

I really liked how Devimon is actually is being represented in Digimon 2020, like he was a prominent character in the 1999 version, and now he’s being incorporated into the plot of 2020, and sort of helping Patamon and TK. And maybe the animators at Toei are watching your videos and making adjustments to their animations by your opinions 😂 but that Holyangemon priest mode bit was such a nice present!
Edit: maybe the reason the crests disappeared is because they’ll comeback/be used when Agumon and Gabumon digivolve together into Omegamons other version, just a though I had :)

With Priest Mode and Battle Mode, one could say depending on which form Holyangemon takes determines the Mega. Another cool thing is how the Holy Ring on Angewomon unlocked Ophanimon's armor and digivolution. The only thing I am wondering is if it's a choice for what Angewomon will digivolve to.
I got chills in this entire episode, you know something is serious when Devimon himself had to give you warnings. Seraphimon and Ophanimon's debut and battle with Black Ghoulmon gave me the OG vibe, when Wargreymon and MetalGarurumon fights VenomMyotismon, remember they got their mega form from Angemon and Angewomon last time? Also, Noticed both battle have similar final showdown as well, and good thing this time they got to hitting the center, not "crotch".
Black Ghoulmon? No that is normal Ghoulmon.
@@xDinomanx I know, but it's still transformed into black form, online said the same, but it could be caused by dark clouds.
@@jackhsu3458 I think it was mostly due to the fact that it was a grey sky so hence why Ghoulmon had a much darker tone. If you look at Ghoulmon's art portrait (i.e. Digimon wiki), it looks exactly the same. It had a silver body.

@@xDinomanx buddy, there's a whole second dex entry for that thing (and admittedly, it's just a color swap), normally it's white, this one's black. The lore for it mentions that it turns black when it goes to announce the end of days.

When I saw that, I was reminded of your review video of HolyAngemon's debut, and how you pondered the idea of Devimon existing as HolyAngemon's left arm. Guess we can confirm your theory to be true. 😁
Anyway, this was a great episode. Seraphimon's digivolution was awesome! Reminded me of HolyAngemon's first digivolution back in Adventure 01, how the prior form became a silhouette of light before being wrapped by his wings to reveal the next form. Awesomeness!

On the one hand I really liked the lore in this episode but I wish they sprinkled this info throughout the last 10 or so episodes as the kids got their megas. I also got the sense that devimon was genuinely afraid of this new threat and decided to warn tk and patamon cuz "I may hate you but not even you deserve this" type of mentality
Deathmon was absolutely terrifying and I got kinda scared that tai and the others got vaporized for a second lol
And then....... holy crap we got seraphimon and ophanimon and it was amazing! 2 decades and we finally got a proper evolution sequence for those two. I know the original digimon movie had seraphimon for like 3 seconds, digimon frontier had them but they were severely nerfed, and digimon tri was....... a thing lol
I'm just happy that the pay off was well worth it. I just hope the final battle will be balls to the walls insane and if there is one extra episode, let it be a day where the digimon spend time in the human world and chill. They deserve it after all of this nonsense lol

@@thedigiknow I also have a theory as to what happened to the crests when they disappeared. I think that the kids released the power of evolutions from the crests. Kinda like an ultimate last resort weapon kind of thing. They can use the Crests and help other digimon to evolve through bonds and trust rather through hate and anger as devimon did. Its adding to your theory that the chosen ones get "additional" digimon for the upcoming fight of the season. I dont have any other evidence to back it up but it's just food for thought lol

You're a true digifan, I love your videos, I usually don't watch reviews in English (though I myself I'm an American and live in California) just because I grew up watching the show in Spanish (which is actually better than the English dub voices/ dialog and /music wise) but you're one of the first reviewers that actually captured the essence of the show. You referenced DBZA …! That made my whole day
For a lot of episodes ever since I been watching DigiKnow I have been making speculations after speculations regarding Devimon and FAGA, even named the third party faction of the Algomon and Soundbirdmon The Void and I have been using every episode since the whole Great Catastrophe was alluded to as a means to build up on them. This episode managed to outsmart me while also proving nearly all of my speculations to be true. I have never felt so much joy that all of my speculations were proven true and much more. Heck I was even right to call them The Void especially when their goal is turn everything into a white "void" of nothingness.
The Soundbirdmon definitely were the eyes and ears of the void, but what I did not expect was that they were the first spawns of the void before the Algomon and that The Void created the spark that lead to the Great War via their first emissary, Deathmon (Ghoulmon) which like the Algomon Mega and Nidghoggmon, Deathmon was an abomination created from all the Soundbirdmon coming together. I guess I don't remember seeing Deathmon on episode 5 but this episode showed the Soundbirdmon all this time was the Void manipulating events from the shadows and they drove Digimon insane with their song of malice. Not only that, their goal is literally bring all to nothingness and me calling them The Void is actually accurate.
Millenia ago, the Void created its' first spawn, the Soundbirdmon. The Soundbirdmon swarmed the Digital World with their Call of the Void which allowed them to manipulate Digimon to do their bidding. It caused Digimon to turn against each other against their will. When enough Soundbirdmon have gathered, they joined and became one abomination known as Deathmon and it brought ruin the Digimon that thrive in darkness and also drove them against the Digimon of the heavens. As the digimon fell one by one, the Void used the data of the dead and compiled them into a new abomination completely bent on total destruction. Milleniumon was born. With its' cometh, Deathmon then disappeared as it has answered the Void's will. However, because of the intervention of the two Archangels and the six mighty warriors, the war has ended and Milleniumon was slain. The Void went into hiding, setting the pieces in place behind the scenes, awaiting for the time they can return. The time for their return came when The Void's second spawn, Algomon came to be. While the Soundbirdmon were the Void's eyes, voice, and ears, the Algomon were the Void's fists. The Algomon as the Fists of the Void wrecked havoc on the network gathering data from human commotion for their eventual plans which lead to the birth of Eyesmon which were the Void's shadow as they spread everywhere. During that time the Void have reawoken the Soundbirdmon and through them, it influenced Devimon's research into evolutions and through Eyesmon and its' manipulations, Devimon was given the fruits of research which was clearly a perversion of what true evolution should be which lead to Devimon's evolution to a being of madness. The Void used Devimon as a means to reawaken Milleniumon whose pieces had scattered across the Eternal Continent which during the Millenia, cults and those of the dark hearted came to worship Milleniumon as a god. The Void then once again took the backseat as if Milleniumon reawakens and fully resurrects, their goal to bring all to nothingness would be achieved. But sadly, Milleniumon fell to the Chosen Children that they had willfully ignored for so long leading the Void to finally take direct action leading to where we are now. The only means to bring an end to The Void that has been behind everything is the full understanding and powers of the eight crests. The Void now taking the Chosen Children seriously have decided to bring back Deathmon to destroy the place the crests are located along with the Chosen Children who came to protect it. Deathmon was slain by the newly evolved Ophanimon and Seraphimon. The Void after so long as lost its' eyes and ears that it has used to watch over the Digital World for so long, but that no longer matters because The Void's master has finally awoken. Next episode, Algomon Lord introduces the Chosen Children, his lord and master. The Progenitor of the Great Catastrophe, Master of the Void, Negamon.
Kinda weird that Priest Mode made an appearence as part of a Mega Digivolve without ever actually getting it's own show-time the way Alterious & Saggitarius did. Also, what the heck was going on visually during the Seven Heavens Vs Death Beam scene?

Really enjoyed this episode. I loved the digivolution sequence and screen time of Seraphimon and Ophanimon. My only gripe, which is more about the Digimon itself has always been about Deathmon, solely because I don't quite like his design. Its always seemed off to me and not quite fitting for the huge role he plays, but that's just my opinion lol overall fantastic episode and can't wait for the next episode.
I was very happy with this episode. I wish they would've gotten their own episodes but those evolution scenes were so awesome and I was so excited! After last weeks disappoinment this week made me excited for the ending

I swear Gatomon have serious identity issues. From kitten to puppy to cat to stripper then to dragon or personal assistant for big boss in a company.
At least they didn't give her Nefertimon, else you could add sphinx to the list.
There are a lot of fans who complain the villains of this reboot are one dimensional and have no personality unlike in the original. This episode I think should give them the answer to why they were all like that. It was because monsters of pure destruction were what The Void wanted. Devimon's dark evolution, Milleniumon's purpose and creation, all of it were the result of The Void's influence. Their goal is bring everything to nothing and villains with charisma and character like Vandemon would fail to fulfill their goal of total destruction. Thinking villains like Piedmon and so on would want to rule the Digital World and not destroy it so The Void which are the central antagonists of this Digimon series has no use for Dark Digimon with aspirations, personality, intellect because again they want the death of everything. To still dislike that while knowing the truth behind it means going against the plot of the reboot finally coming together to begin with. Maybe none of you made speculations or theories like I did that boosted the overall interest to the plot.
The plot of the reboot is not that good, and it sometimes does not make sense. They did Andromon dirty. He got so much hate for something that was out of his control. Poor Andromon
I'm just so glad we finally get ophanimon in other media aside from the psp games. After all we were supposed to see her on Tri, but for some reason we only got fall down mode.

I'd say my favourite moment was the scene with it revealing the Holy empowered WarGreymon. In that Wakanda Forever pose, and the Brave Shield in front.
But HolyAngemon Priest Mode was a close second, glad to see that V-Tamer form animated.

When the crests vanished, I question if it will be like on the original Digimon Adventure. Remember when the crests and tags were destroyed then suddenly it came to be known that the crests are a power that are now inside of the children? I wonder if they are just now within the childrens or something.

priest mode made the episode for me. totally unexpected and only left wanting more.
animation was a bit weak through out the majority of it though.
I mean, you could also phrase it as ‘the crests are what the human children brought’ - which is BASICALLY what they were in the original series! (Just phrased a bit more as a metaphor)
My personal speculah to how the final battle is gonna end is, basically, Negamon taking some sort of incredibly huge form that not even Omegamon will be able to beat, followed by the chosen children's digimon all merging together into Omegamon Merciful Mode. As for Negamon's motivation, my theory is that it might be trying to destroy everything because it is in eternal pain and wants to disappear so that its suffering can end permanently. This would be a contrast to Apocalymon, the final villain of the original Digimon Adventure, who, being filled with the anger and pain of all the digimon who went extinct, wanted everyone else to suffer its pain out of spite.

I liked this episode a lot because ima lore junkie. That being said I hope that the angels don’t finish off negamon so easily lol. I’ll cross my fingers for a .5% chance the special episode will tease that they’ll come back to adventure reboot in the future after ghost game. Not likely but hey…

I really want an arc where Ogremon dies and Leomon goes into full rage mode. Kinda wish this happened in Trainers, (considering they absorb other digimon ) since it was darker. Still, they need to quit making Leomon the martyr.

@@AzureKite191 No it isn’t. Bellestarmon doesn’t have a confirmed evolution line. Where as Ladydevimon has been shown to evolve to Lilithmon in multiple sources.

The reason behind the crests are okay for this series since it was extremely light in that department. Going deeper than skin would not fit the show and just bog it down when it should be wrapping up.
All in all, I'm not surprised it's so... generic, but a bit disappointed they didn't embellish the source materials for some of these evil Digimon.
I feel like Adventure 2020 was created as a fan service based on pure nostalgia without any real or deep story, all of its episodes have been about action and fighting and reaching new forms (Ultimate, Super and slide evolutions) and imo apart from WarGreymon's debut in this series I felt like the rest of the ultimates debuts were unearned and all felt underwhelming and you'd forgiven if you forgot how MetalGarurumon or Vikemon appeared for the first time, usually in Digimon when you reach a high level of evolution like super or ultimate or jogress it must happen in a dangerous and life threatening situation and it usually happens when the partner or the chosen child are at their lowest and doubting themselves.
Say what you want about Tri but at least they tried something new and had a great concept and there were a lot of character moments where the story and action stemmed from the character themselves rather than a plot applied onto them like how it happenes in Adventure 2020.
I even think all the villains so far in Adventure 2020 don't have any charisma or intelligent motive behind their actions, they're just huge beasts who destroy everything for the sake of it, they're all one-dimensional and shallow caricature, you can't compare Millenniummon or Deathmon to Vamdemon, Piemon, Apocalypse, Lucemon & Cherubimon (Frontier) who all had charisma and are iconic and memorable among the fanbase, you don't get that in Adventure 2020.

I totally agree with this. Unfortunately Tri also dropped the ball after like the third or fourth movie, not having a satisfying plot, animation, etc.. But yeah I don't have it with this reboot, it is really one of the weakest animes I've ever seen and I thought I hit the floor with Sailor Moon Crystal. Apparently not.
You apparently have not understood why the villains are made to be killing machines, because that was what the central antagonists wanted. MetalGarurumon's debut if you don't mind was a life threatening situation in of itself. Yamato and Gabumon are caught by Machmon riding mach speed on a runway attempting to commit suicide. What I like about this reboot is that it's not the partner and chosen kids who are put in life threatening situations but it is more involved in a world like sense. In this case it was Machmon who was at his lowest and Yamato and Gabumon were risking their lives to convince Machmon to not die. Vikemon's debut was Joe taking his role as a leader seriously risking everything for his "crew". That was after Joe told Gomammon about not always being the one to get rescued.
I got so upset that Leomon survived til the end =/

So like others THIS episode wrecked me SEVERLY.... As you said they didn't have to go as hard as they did...
What I kinda realized is that the kids are actually in a game verse of Digimon not the anime version.. The constant fighting and adventure, how the group can be in a mix of champion & ultimate lvl and still kinda deal the same amount of damage... The story the ending is epic enough but they are clearly holding back more... According to the original series once the angels arrive more dramatic shit happens before we see the end.. More than likely an upgraded fusion.. I am getting scared that we maybe get a brief half of an episode in the real world now and that sucks but this was worth the wait...
That crest explanation also kinda answers why sora episodes wernt that deep, there was no need to go deeper if "thats" all that's going to be said about it cheer to the ending
