Your dot reference point technique is commonly used in Silkscreening, its also helpful to do dots in the top left and bottom right corners to avoid pivoting the stencil out of place. Good video man!

The dot is called a registration mark. Using just one registration mark has the disadvantage that you still might have it rotate slightly around that registration mark, which is why the industry standard is three registration marks. Registration marks are usually placed outside the design/image in three corners and are a combinaton of a cross hair plus circle segments with stencils and a full circle outline intersecting the cross hair with multi color screenprints.
I make color separations for printing and I would highly recommend using at least two registration marks (and use a plus sign instead of a dot) so there is no chance of the image rotating. Ideally they would be outside the image area and as far from each other as possible. You might have made improvements in the last 4 years though.
Hey Dillon, love the video, I've used both photoshop and silhouette software in the past for tee shirt designs so I'm familiar with the process you mentioned here. I just thought I'd mention you can get a product for your old cutting mat called Sticky Mat Adhesive (may be called something else in the US) which basically makes your mat sticky again! Keep up the great work and stay blessed.
Wow. This was a major help. The reference dot technique was what I needed to know, because I always wondered how to line up a stencil without it being off centered. Only thing is I don't have photoshop
The dot on the forehead is similar to what professional printers call a registration mark. Most use a crosshair shape because it’s easier to see which way you are off.
I hope these questions weren't already asked, but here we go (by the way I have a Cricut Explore machine). Question #1 How are you able to transfer your stencils to the shoes surface so easily? I feel like I have the hardest time getting the stencil to stay on the shoe and not be pulled up by the transfer tape. #2 I noticed most the vinyl I see is labeled as "permanent", do yo use the permanent vinyl for your stencils even though it's not going to stay on the shoe? #3 For example I have an black toe box and I want orange lettering on the toe box, would you always lay down the lettering color first and then put the letter stencil on top of that and paint over it and the rest of the toe box black? I've got a question about airbrushing Angelus paints - I am currenly using a 0.2mm needle and long story short - I got the advice to use either a 0.3 or 0.5mm needle since my current 0.2 is to thin. Does anyone else use a airbrush and which needle thickness do you guys use?

The reference dot is dope! I use a similar technique when making multi layer decals but I use a small square. Helps line up w/o pivoting. I do have a question, as I started customizing shoes 2 years ago, if someone wanted a multi layer logo on a pair of Airforce 1, about 2x3 inches, what's a fair price? For the customer? Myself? And so I'm not umdershooting so I dont devalue the market?
Sooooooo many factors, impossible for me to give a good solid answer here.. assuming you’re doing just the logo and nothing else that will take you a bare minimum of 3 hours.. so I mean somewhere around 75-125?
I'm so happy to see videos that often, as a beginner I'm always up for good advice, and by the way i had a question about stencils, I don't have any airbrush, I would like to know if it's possible to paint over stencils with brushes? Also I guess you would recommend to put thine layers ? And I say some portable airbrush, with little compressors attached to the airbrush, it's nice for me cause I change home location very often but I don't know if it's good or not especially to do sock liners ?
Awesome video bro! Is this cut on a cameo 3? If so would you recommend a cameo for stencil and vinyl cutting? Thanks in advance sorry for the long winded msg

Loved every minute of it. @dejesussus for president!
Is there a stencil cutter larger than 12”x12”?
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thanks man!!!! i was in the ball park! I really appreciate what you''re doing! I'm sure the culture does too!
Yes you could do it by hand with paintbrush, also airbrush works great for sockliners to keep nice and soft
They are not selling either of the vinyl you mentioned anymore on Amazon! Well they said out of stock and don’t know if it will return to Amazon.
You should be able to find fdc 3700 glitter on Etsy, and Oracal 811 on uscutter.com
Awesome video bro! Is this cut on a cameo 3? If so would you recommend a cameo for stencil and vinyl cutting? Thanks in advance sorry for the long winded msg
Yes and yes!
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear lol i should prob watch the whole video before I ask the questions...
What kind of photoshop programs, do you use for your custom designs?
Mainly photoshop or procreate
I have a question: I barely started to getting into the customizing buisness and I’m wondering what’s a good airbrush I saw on amazon a masters airbrush kit but rn I’m thinking of getting the airbrush kit they have in harbor freight tools that’s is $90
Jose and Joel the compressor from harbor freight is fine but the airbrush no good. Pick up a badger patriot 105, we have a few videos on it!
DeJesus Custom Footwear alright👍🏽😀 thx
The airbrush at harbor fright is trashhhhhhh
This is similar to the process for screen printing. Every color needs a registration mark for alignment.
Very cool, makes sense!
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Forgot to mention that you put together a great tutorial video. Thanks
W Wally thanks for watching! Appreciate you
wouldn't be better 2 dots for alignment? thanks for the video
Yes! And crosses will work better than dots also
How did you convert the layers to black..I'm not good at photoshop...using nuts ps software....much love, appreciate all your vids
Once you have em selected you can use the paint bucket to fill em in ! Deifnitly would be a good idea to watch some very basic photoshop tutorials just getting a feel for it
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear 4sho...definitely appreciate you taking the time to hit me back...much 🖤
